I was never more intimidated in my life. I started preparing for this 44km hike 12 weeks prior. I was putting myself in a situation where no one could bail me out. I couldn't even walk 44km nevermind climbing with 40lbs strapped to my back.

I set a goal, I kept putting one foot in front of the other and saw some improvements daily.  This led to one of the greatest payoffs in my life! Mindset is everything!

ADVENT CALLENDER DAY 13

Before your workout, your exercise or your set, do you visualise what you want to achieve and set it against your short/long term objective(s)? .
What I mean is this, are you doing what you need to do in order to reach your target? Do you want a lean, toned and strong body? Then you must be doing some form of resistance training and lifting sufficient for your needs. Do you want to be fit enough to run a marathon? Then get running and incorporate other cardio and resistance training to assist. Want to be supple, strong, lean and improve your perception of wellness? Then try Pilates/Yoga or to be fair, almost any type of fitness workout that has a whole body approach.

What I see most often is people working out with a goal in mind, but their training/nutrition doesn't necessarily match their needs and if they get results, it's sometimes despite their approach and not because of it.  Plan, plan, plan and make sure your plan is appropriate to your goal.  Get professional and knowledgeable advice specific to your needs and minimise a lot of wasted time rather than go for the shortcut.

Occasionally an older man will put his two cents in, like today when someone commented that he felt sorry for whomever had to have sex with the woman I drew.
I'll tell you stupid little boys a story shall I? Well, women are women. They have rolls and cellulite and scars and marks and dimples and hair in places you probably don't even have yet. Your mother, your sister, your aunt, friend, cousins have one or all of these things too. A woman had her body stretched to within an inch of its life to make you and now all you do is tear women down. You're unfortunately so bombarded by porn and airbrushed perfect images of women that you don't really know what a REAL woman looks like.
A slim woman is not perfect, and neither is a large woman. But every woman IS worthy and due respect and allowed to love and be loved. Get the fuck over it.

For those of you with chocolate cravings and love hot chocolate, try my fancy shmancy mint protein hot chocolate recipe to help to keep those cravings in check while still keeping your taste buds happy.

There is nothing like drinking a hot cup of hot chocolate to warm you up during the winter months.

Tag a friend to share a cup of hot chocolate with you. [RECIPE]

Ingredients:
30g (1 scoop) of Beyond Yourself Chocolate Iso Whey Protein Powder
5g Fair Trade Organic Cocoa Powder
225g (30cals) Unsweetened Almond Breeze
15g of Gaylea Light Whipped Cream (optional)
Cinnamon (optional)
Splash of mint extract (optional)

Mix all ingredients in a shaker cup (aside from the whipped cream) and shake until well mixed. Pour into a microwave safe mug. While stirring, add in hot water until mug is almost full. Place in microwave for 45 sec intervals and take out and stir each time (this will avoid any protein chunks from forming). Continue to heat until desired temperature. Top with whipped cream and ENJOY!

SET-UPโ€ผ๏ธ You can use a low bench a hip-thruster or aerobic risers for the set-up. From there set your upper back on the bench leaving room for you to hinge from below the scapula.

Set your feet close enough to your body that when you thrust your shins a slightly more vertical to the floor. Make sure to keep your eyes gazing forward, chin tucked in and rib cage down to avoid hyperextending at the top of the movement.

EXECUTIONโ€ผ๏ธ Drive through the heels and the pelvis until you reach top of the movement with your hips fully locked-out going into some slight posterior pelvic tilt while keeping your rib cage down, eyes gazing forward and chin tucked in. Then control lowering the load and repeat the process.

This is what I love about yoga; it's not about the Asana and the physical practice, but what you learn through it. When I manage to do something new, something I was not able to do before, I get more confident and that translates into my daily life and therefore I'll start to feel more confident in everything else. ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿผ

Now that the brain knows that the abs and glutes are actually doing their jobs and providing stability to the spine, we can go ahead and tell the low back to start to relax.

One of my favorite drills for hat is to simple dead hang your upper body like above. While you are doing this you should be taking long, slow exhales which will help your muscle relax. Holding your breath and not exhaling will cause you to create more tension, which we donโ€™t want. .
Another thing I like to do during this is to move my knees forward and back. What this does is it moves the thigh bone back and forth in the sockets. When a bone is off even a little in the socket, it can cause all the surrounding muscles to get tight. When you wiggle it back into place, those guys can let go. .
The dead hang also gives us spinal decompression. This drill just feels good overall. Give it a try , even if you donโ€™t have back pain.

So hereโ€™s my dinner tonight! Turkey - brought home from my favorite chef ๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿณ ๐Ÿ˜ - grilled kale, half a sliced avocado ๐Ÿฅ‘ & half baked sweet potato. Normally I would have it with grilled chicken or ground turkey but since my boyfriend was so kind to bring me home the turkey he made at work for their first Hanukkah dinner, I went for it๐Ÿ˜‹ .

So hereโ€™s my tip to those trying to eat healthier & might find it challenging: keep it simple! Choose fresh, Whole Foods, minimize the consumption of pre-packaged, highly processed foods as well as foods that are so called โ€œhealthyโ€ but are packed with added sugar. Instead, start adding more foods containing natural sugars such as fruits ๐Ÿ‰ ๐ŸŽ๐ŸŒ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ‡ & add veggies and leafy greens like kale to your day-to-day eating habits (hate calling it a diet, it isnโ€™t a diet, itโ€™s a lifestyle!๐Ÿ˜Š)

Worked out so hard today I had to go hide in the Group Ex room incase I threw up ๐Ÿคข had to collect myself because damn thatโ€™s a new feeling. .
This was my third heavy booty day this week (gross) I stuck to 2 main heavy lifts all 3 days and only switched up the accessory work a touch. Only today I noticed my strength was down. As to be expected. Itโ€™s only Thursday. Iโ€™m crazy. .
I want a booty so big and juicey so Iโ€™m doing everything in my power to reach that goal. .
