Remember the omurice video that was making rounds on the internet sometime back? We found out Kichi Kichi was just nearby and absolutely had to try it for ourselves! The omurice was honestly just okay, but the performance by the chef more than made up for it. We also ordered a chicken cutlet with cheese and mustard which was nice
Current state. Favorite state. This is the beautiful work of @humancraftd who I am lucky to be doing some styled photography for. And there's a glimpse of my sweet mom mingling with the birch trees in the Wisconsin north woods many years ago. ❤️🌿 So grateful for my childhood - running wild in these woods. I've tried other states but always come back to this one. Home Sweet Home.
This is my kind of splurge: adding ceremonial matcha to my smoothie. The main reason why I typically reserve ceremonial for sipping straight with water is because it has more delicate flavours and is naturally sweet. The fruit in the smoothie easily overwhelm the matcha. Same goes for milk in lattes. However, higher grades of matcha also have higher levels of the amino acid l-theanine. L-theanine gives matcha its natural sweetness, but it also provides some benefits that I love.
L-theanine stimulates the production of alpha waves in the brain. Alpha waves provide us with an incredible ability to focus and concentrate while maintaining a calm alertness. This clarity of mind helps us power through work related tasks. I find i'm less jittery and anxious when I get super busy. Basically, it helps get sh*t done! I’m no doctor, but I’ve read clinical studies showing L-Theanine to reduce stress levels, blood pressure and PMS symptoms. What's your experience been? #liveamoda (p.s. amoda means joy, peace and serenity, so living with amoda is a daily goal for me!)

Shrimp Po' Boy 🍤
- 60g of peeled and deveined shrimp (approx 10)
- French bread
- 1 large egg
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/2 cup flour
- 1/2 cup bread crumbs
- 1 tsp cajun seasoning
- 1 tsp salt and pepper
- 2 to 3 leaves romain lettuce
- 1 whole sliced tomatoes
- 1/2 sliced red onion
- 1 sliced choice of cheese (I used mozarella)
- 3 tbsp vegetable oil
- 1 to 2 large potatoes (for the baked fries)
FOR THE SAUCE:
- 1 cup mayonnaise
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1/2 lemon juice
- 1 tsp dijon mustard
- Pinch of salt and pepper
- In a small bowl, add all the ingredients for the sauce. Mix everything and place it in the fridge.
- In another bowl, add egg and milk then whisk.
- In another separate bowl, add flour, bread crumbs, cajun seasoning, salt and pepper.
- Add shrimp in the wet mixture then next to the dry mixture. Make sure the shrimps are well coated.
- Prepare your medium pan then add 2 to 3 tbsp vegetable oil. Heat it to medium high.
- Pan fry the shrimps 2 to 3 minutes each side until cooked and brown.
- Place it in a plate with a kitchen tissue paper to dry excess oil. Set aside.
- Prepare the bread, cut it in half then toast it.
- Spread sauce to the bread then add lettuce, tomatoes, onions and the fried shrimp.
- Serve with fries and extra sauce. Enjoy!
Note: You all know how to make fries! So yea. HAHA! 😂
I've seen a lot of people doing Low Carb High Fat lately.
Firstly... kudos to you, because if it honestly works for your body, then I'm all for it!
But please know it doesn't work for everyone, and just because your best friend or someone you look up to is doing it, doesn't mean you should!
I went strictly paleo, followed by eating a paleo based diet for nearly 2+ years.
At first I thought it was a godsend!
It seemed to help my IBS and gave me energy... that however, soon changed!
It started causing more issues than it helped and the mass amount of fibre I was consuming caused havoc on my health, but I put this down to me "not doing it right" because I saw sooo many other girls eating LCHF and felt that it had to work for me.
So I'd switched things up, the qualities of the food, increasing the fats, eating more protein, blamed it on certain vegetables I thought had been causing pain.
But finally, (not going to lie, after a big battle with myself) the last few months I've slowly been adding carbs and GRAINS back into my diet, giving my body time to adjust and honestly I'm feeling more ME again.
My energy is coming back, my mood swings and foggy head have faded and I have more clarity.
Gut health is so important!
A happy tummy means a happy head and I cannot stress enough the importance of listening to your own body!
Be true to who you are, what you love and how your own body works.
Just because something is "on trend" or everyone is doing it, doesn't mean you should follow✌🏻
