Front yard roses. I've filled every vase I own and they are on every counter in the house. And I've got rose petals drying due to some romantic notion of a future (unidentified) project I like to think I will make. #oregon#homegrown#pnwspring#optimism#roses
This is a lesson I keep coming back to. Why is it JUST. SO. HARD?! I'm a very ambitious person, and it's my personality to work towards a goal. 🙏 Praying for patience in all things tonight. 📷: @artsychristian
Remember the #giveaway -- I'll draw a winner tomorrow!
I'm absolutely stoked to read @realrobbell 's new #book 'What is the #Bible '. His book 'How to be Here' is one of the most powerful things I've ever read. He has an amazing ability to help you reconfigure your worldview into one of #love and #optimism . He doesn't shy away or ignore the uncomfortable or hard to explain sides of the #Christian faith. And he's done really great work with fascinating people like @peteholmes and #aaronrodgers . ❤️❤️❤️
In such a short time so much has changed.
It gives hope to the hopeless to see the flush of green where before barren winter wiped its grubby little hands across the landscape.
The thing to remember is that while it appears that spring arrives like an extravagant aunt toting gifts from some far off lush green land, the truth is that tiny shifts happened in the earth and in the air and the plants remembered who they were and what they were meant to do.
Who are you?
What were you meant to do?
Spring is here.
"We delight in the beauty of the butterfly, but rarely admit the changes it has gone through to achieve that beauty." - Maya Angelou
Change is hard—and beautiful! Remember though that in the moment, change is basically just hard. The Lord changes us to make us new creatures, better creatures, because He sees what we can become. Don't let the change scare you, because I can guarantee it will be beautiful!

Late night thoughts... "Enemies of the mind – you’ve got to do battle with in the summer. One is pessimism that tries to get you only to see the negative side. Of course, there’s a negative side. Life is part negative; what else is new? If the glass is half empty, it is half empty.
You say, why I’ve been taught to see that it’s half-full? Well, sure it’s half-full. But it’s also half-empty. I mean, can’t you handle that? We know, that’s not too difficult.
But here’s what pessimism would try to get you to do? Believe that it’s only happened and when pessimism comes to your mind, you’ve got to educate pessimism because pessimism is stupid. Pessimism tries to get you to believe that it’s only half-empty. Of course, it’s half empty but it’s not only half-empty; it’s also half-full.
I’m asking you to be in charge — be in charge of your own mind, be in charge of your own destiny. Do battle with your enemies. Do battle with your enemies. Take sword to your enemies. Whatever is going to destroy those values, take sword to it. If it’s worry, take sword to it. If it’s threat, threaten back." — Jim Rohn

In honor of Mental Health Awareness month (May) I'm creating a body of work to explore a range of issues relating to suicide, depression, mindfulness and neuroplasticity. This piece is entitled, "Way-finding" is part of a series in which I pour, dip, spray INT-O Yellow* onto store-bought shrink wrapped canvases. Some of the canvases are damaged or the protective plastic wrap has tares, holes or surface scratches— presumably from mishandling during manufacturing, shipping, or retail environments. The intention of this series is to explore the notion of accident/mistake, safety, the possibility of beginning again and the concept of 'Optimism in Action.' For this piece, I poured paint onto an opening of the shrink-wrap (which was on the reverse side of the canvas). The paint found its way through the surface opening to the second, deeper layer of unprimed canvas. Price $500 (25% benefiting People Inc. a peer-to-peer mental health counseling org, 25% to UMEWE to support Optimism in the arts and help continue gifting INT-O Yellow to other artists). *INT-O Yellow (International Optimism Yellow) is a color that I developed in collaboration with Pantone Color Institute and UMEWE.org to shine a light on Depression and to generate more Optimism in the world. For 39+ years I functioned with modest aspirations. Don't get me wrong, I had aspirations and worked very hard, and have accomplished a lot. But believed that my aspirations should be level headed and within reach. That was then, this is now. I am and for the rest of my life will be an active participant in my future. It's always been my philosophy to not settle! And I owe it to myself and all those I love (living and those who have passed on) to never settle! My life is amazing, and I'm happy for my past and AMPED for mine and my families future. #wirewithaplan#lifewithaplan#mfceo Graphic credit goes to #garyvee#optimism
