Yep still not caught up on my tokyo posts- here’s what i had on new years morning/noon. My fam ordered osechi from a local sushi restaurant but since everything had some sort of animal product (with the exclusion of 黒豆 aka black beans stewed in sugar), i made お煮しめ which is stewed vegetables cooked in with dashi from kobu seaweed and dried shiitake and flavored with soy sauce, some sugar, and some sake. The vegetables i cooked in include carrots, lotus root, burdock root, daikon, sato imo, kouya tofu, and こんにゃく. Apart from the お煮しめ i made お雑煮 which is a soup made from the same kobu and shiitake broth and similar vegetables, with the inclusion of mochi. Also had the daikon pickles pictured with the おにしめ. Honestly love new years japanese food because each piece holds a meaning and a wish for a healthy and prosperous new year.
So honored to be the ones to make Osechi for you 🙏🏻! For most, it is their first time ever trying. We are certain it will be a meal to remember. Also, we are just about fully booked. Thank you to those that have already partaken and we are excited to serve the upcoming guests! 🙇🏻♂️ 📷: @meetjakob 🤚🏻: @tinenit @hangrydiary
