Interesting event happened yesterday. Bull Elk got curious and headed toward this individual. At the time he was more than the recommended distance but didn’t know where to go once he became closer. I always have an exit plan. This individual could have rolled under the fence (there is no bottom) or could have been within these fenced off area to begin with (Where I was). Elk have a min distance of 75ft/23m. As photographers you can look at your focus scale on your lens and you will see meters on it to help you judge distance. @rockynps #elfsafety#beaware#lucky#closeencounter#closecall
We are getting so close to finalizing the details for opening Three Rivers Outdoor Co. in Spring 2018 we just need a little help to get over this last hump. Look for more details Oct 14th when we launch our IndieGoGo campaign!
#stayingwildandfree | Haven't done one of these sticky notes in a while--I keep forgetting! I'm not just doing the Catskills challenge but I am also (casually) doing the @52hikechallenge
Why casually? I started this challenge in July 2016. The goal is one hike a week for 52 weeks (a year). What grew from there was finding an amazing outdoor community on Instagram, Facebook, and Meetup.
I would number a pink post-it for every hike, tag it #missjamiehikes , but I have found that as the days and weeks and months have gone by, my mind has been filled less with numbers and more with amazing experiences, views, and people.
So if I forget a number or a sticky here and there, it no longer matters. Because I have found so much more than what I started with. Thank you to anyone I have met along the way.

More from our roving traveler (Campmor retiree) Back Roads Bev. Wild places and open space are a necessity, as John Muir declared 100 years ago. It is very disconcerting that 10 national monuments have just been identified for significant reductions in size and scope. Wild and open space are more critical now than ever. We hope the tradition of conservation and preservation continue amidst significant challenges ahead.
PC: Former Campmor Buyer, Back Roads Bev. She and her husband are traveling the western US since their retirement a few years ago. They are loving retirement and loving even more the outdoor experience as their days are spent hiking, biking and kayaking. They've had some challenges along the way, such as having to leave Montana because of the wildfires which have burned more than 1 million acres. They headed for West Yellowstone and then the Grand Tetons, where this pic was taken, before they head south to Arizona.

Albanian Riviera // September // the touristic season is over, but summer is still on, the beaches are back to their wilderness and the weather is perfect, there are no words to express how good it feels
This is a picture taken in mid august, the busiest week of the busiest month of the summer season. Still I managed to find this stunning and quiet corner of paradise, a nice beach near #Dhermi . Very few people were there and the water had this unbelievable colour, so blue and clean it seemed an artificial pool. I'm going back there today, can't wait!

This fire in Eagle Creek and our beloved Gorge has me shaking to help in any way I can. I'm not at trained wildfire fighter but I wish I was. However, I make a damn good cookie.
If anyone is free and would like to help, I'm planning on baking treats, grabbing bottle waters, and anything else I can think of that might be needed/appreciated and running them out to Hood River on Wednesday and possibly again Thursday.
Additionally, I hope to drop some items off for those who have been displaced and are at the shelter at Mount Hood CC.
If you'd like to help bake, donate, drive with me or anything else - let's make it happen!
