@laura_scott posted her heatmap up yesterday and it got me thinking about mine... I rode without a GPS for a long time (and still do), so there's some notable bits missing; Orkney and the Shetland Islands, touring routes round the Lakes, Yorkshire Dales and Northumberland, my time in Wales and boris biking London. On the whole though, it seems a fair reflection of my cycling in the UK. I've got Northern England covered, but there's so much left to see and do.
After a Super Randonneur series and a 1000km audax in 2016, I've done bugger all this year; a summer spent doing everything but cycling. However, I've just strung together two 100km+ weeks for the first time in a long time, so it seems like the mojo is returning... Why? Well, there's a couple of rides next year that I very much want to be part of; 2018 sees the return of the Mille Cymru. 1000km through and over Wales finest (Google it, it's a bastard). The Borders of Belgium 1000 is happening again and it's rumoured to be the final edition. There's also a Scottish 1000 at the end of May that seems like it might be a laugh.
Love riding bikes, me.
The Col D'Izoard. I forgot how awesome this climb is. The road is wide, smooth and the switchbacks are a pleasure on the descent. It's just a pity that it was -7 degrees with the wind chill at the top - otherwise we would have done both sides! Here it is about half way up before it got cold.
Our @jonathanprothero has made it back to G!RO from his epic ride to John O'Groats 👏🇬🇧 | We're all very proud of this guy & he has already done a great job raising money for a great cause in APA 👊 | BUT... there is still time to donate! | Check our story & our bio for the link! | Cheers legends! 🙌 | #hislegsfortheirs#podoconiosis
