Things are worsening for #Israel from moral and legal perspectives. In fact, one year after the #Goldstone Report on its #warcrimes during its war on #Gaza and amidst growing suspicions of its direct responsibility in the assassination of a Palestinian leader in #Dubai an international court has now concluded that Israel is violating international law with #Europe complicity.
The #EuropeanUnion (EU) is an accomplice of Israel in its proven violations of international law, as it legitimised Israeli actions in the #Palestinian occupied territories and provided support to it, according to the findings of the Russel Tribunal on #Palestine (RTP), which met in #Barcelona March 1-3.
The Tribunal concluded that Israel has committed and continues to commit violations of international law, while the #EU and its member states have breached this law and failed to take measures against Israeli violations and identify remedies.
The RTP, which was set up by late #British philosopher, mathematician, historian, pacifist and social critic Bertrand Russell to judge the #Vietnam War from the perspective of international law, has also stated that “Israel practices a systematic policy of #discrimination with the Palestinian population by closing Gaza’s borders and limiting the movement of people across the territory.” The RTP is an international citizen-based “Tribunal of conscience” created in response to the demands of #civil society. It is imbued with the same #spirit and espouses the same rigorous rules as those inherited from the Tribunal by #BertrandRussell on #Vietnam (1966-1967) and the Russell Tribunal II on #LatinAmerica (1974-1976). Its members include #Nobel laureates, a former UN Secretary-General, a former UN Under-Secretary-General, two former heads of state, other persons who held high political office and many representatives of civil society #writers#journalists#poets#actors film directors, #scientists#professors#lawyers and judges.
International public law constitutes the legal frame of reference for the RTP.
All over the states there is apple harvest season, pumpkin, corn etc. but for me I grew up with the olive harvest. Olive trees are not just like any other trees. They are tough, resilient, and gorgeous. The trees are draught-resistant and grow even under poor soil conditions. The olive trees live and bear fruit for thousands of years. To me and to all Palestinians they are the symbol of our lives. My grandfather planted trees over 100 years ago, that my dad still carefully cares for. Palestine has some of the world’s oldest olive trees, dating back to 4,000 years. The olive trees are so significant that Some families have trees that have been passed down to them for generations and some are even included in ones will. olive harvest season in October meant that families got together, the elderly, the kids, moms and dads, sons and daughters, and neighbors they all had jobs during the olive harvest. My heart is so so happy that I got this gift of olives from my dear friend Sarah @whenapricotsbloom It’s an extension of love, kindness and pure generosity. Thank you sarah so so much. you took me down memory lane and brought a piece of my homeland to me. growing up I harvested olives, but to brine them now that’s a first. It’s a job usually left to the experts in this case it’s my grandma so Of course I called her for the recipe. I followed her recipe but I might of left out the part that I am adding herbs and garlic to the brine. Grandma’s don’t like anyone messing with the recipes so let’s keep it between us ok :) I olive you sarah ❤️
HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces demolished two Palestinian houses in the Halaweh village, located in the southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron, according to local sources.
Ratib al-Jabour, a coordinator of the National and Popular Committees in the southern West Bank told Ma’an that Israeli forces raided the village Thursday morning and demolished two houses belonging to Muhammad Younis Abu Aram and Khalil Younis Abu Aram.
Al-Jabour said that Israeli authorities claimed that two houses were built without difficult-to-obtain Israeli-issued building permits. He pointing out that there is an ongoing case in Israeli courts regarding the two homes, but that it was destroyed anyways.
A spokesperson for COGAT, the agency responsible for implementing the Israeli government’s policies in the occupied Palestinian territory, told Ma'an that an "enforcement was carried out this morning against two illegal constructions in the village of Halawa, which were built illegally without the required permits." "It should be emphasized that the constructions were built in a military firing zone, and that residing in these areas is a significant risk to life. The enforcement was carried out after all the orders were served and the required approvals were obtained," the spokesperson said.
Halaweh village is located in the southern Hebron hills, and according to Israeli human rights organization B’Tselem, is located within a closed Israeli military zone called “Firing Area 918.” Last year, several homes in the Halaweh and the nearby Jinba village were destroyed, displacing 78 Palestinians, including 60 children.
According to Israeli newspaper Haaretz, Halaweh is one of 12 villages in the area that have been waging a legal battle for 17 years in an attempt to prevent the demolition of their village and the forcible displacement of their families so the villages can be used as Israeli army training areas.

HEBRON (Ma'an) -- Israeli forces on Thursday demolished agricultural structures belonging to Palestinians in the southern occupied West Bank district of Hebron, according to local sources.
In the village of al-Tuwani, south of Hebron, coordinator of national and popular committees in the southern West Bank Ratib al-Jabour told Ma’an that Israeli forces demolished an agricultural structure belonging to Palestinian farmer Muhammad Issa al-Yatim, under the pretext that it was built without a difficult-to-obtain Israeli-issued building permit.
Al-Jabour said that Israeli authorities are” increasing their attacks against residents and farmers of eastern Yatta to force them to leave their lands.” In the nearby village of Halaweh, southeast of the town of Yatta, Israeli forces destroyed two Palestinian homes earlier Thursday morning.
In the village of Beit Ummar, north of Hebron city, Israeli forces demolished steel structures and confiscated its contents, claiming it was built without a license.
Local activist Muhammad Ayyad Awad told Ma’an that Israeli forces surrounded the structures, belonging to Saber Zamel Abu Maria, and prevented locals from approaching before destroying the structures.
A spokesperson for COGAT, the agency responsible for implementing the Israeli government’s policies in the occupied Palestinian territory, said they were looking into the demolitions in al-Tuwani and Beit Ummar.
Both villages are located in Area C -- the more than 60 percent of the West Bank under full Israeli military and civilian control.
Israel rarely grants Palestinians permits to build in the West Bank, including East Jerusalem, although the estimated 550,000 Jewish Israeli settlers in the occupied Palestinian territory are more easily given building permits and allowed to expand their homes and properties.

Henna painting is a part #Palestinian heritage in #Gaza and also a potential source of living for some women. Henna has become a largely needed skill in Gaza because few people have mastered it.
"It provides me with a monthly income. The demand for henna painting increases in spring and summer, as weddings and occasions abound during that time of the year," says a skilled Gazan painter.
