Stunning location overlooking London Bridge but unfortunately I felt the food was pretty standard. Pan Asian food, not halal, with a confusing customer care service. The starters were good but nothing wow that stood out, similarly with the mains, even though they were not the norm on a menu n so I thought could've popped more...
The starters consisted of a variety of seafood dimsum and gyoza, prawn toast, calamari and veg spring rolls (swipe right). The mains were salmon teriyaki which was different but lacking in flavour, Thai green curry which was good (I usually favour red), prawn firecracker for which is as expecting a spicy kick but nope (it has nothing on Wagamamas firecracker), the crispy sea bass in a three flavour sauce which I really enjoyed and the Japanese fried rice which was also good. Unfortunately I probably wouldn't go back .
Not to brag or anything but we are the first in Staten Island to offer excellent, authentic dim sum to our amazing customers! Come on in for lunch and enjoy dishes such as our Pan Fried Shrimp and Chives Dumplings!
@sakanamcr is a modern Pan-Asian restaurant based in the heart of Manchester. Walking into the restaurant you enter the bar area which incorporates Asian style wooden seats with Japanese street art on the walls. The dining area has an open kitchen, you can see the chefs hard at work preparing the meals which helps you appreciate the thought and effort they put into each dish. We began with tapas style starters of chicken skewers and prawn wontons. The chicken skewers were superbly cooked and seasoned, with the added spring onions and satay sauce I didn’t think anything could top them but when I saw the prawn wontons I knew there would be competition. The wontons were presented beautifully, placed in chilli soy sauce with edible flowers on top. They were steamed to perfection and the chilly soy sauce gave them a nice hit of chilli. For the main we chose the Korean lamb cutlets which had a pleasant grilled taste to them but the accompanying slaw didn’t add anything as we found it to be bland, it could have done with a nice rich sauce to compliment the cutlets. The dish we were most excited to try was the new Matcha Lava Cake. There is a 15 minute wait as they make the cake fresh for each customer. When the dessert came out it was a picture book image of indulgence, it reminded me of the beautiful Japanese tea farms with its green earthy tones. Cutting into the cake you get a flow of green coloured lava, the matcha is not overpowering and the cake is soft and melts in your mouth. There are a few elements to the dessert, they have mixed pan Asian and modern flavours and have managed to create a wonderful unique dish. The only negative from our experience was the slow service and long periods between the food arriving.
