A world of Wonderself that will convince you to pick up the phone and call no other than yourself!
A collage picture book for grownups called Alice in Wonderself was created by a Slovenian collage artist Maruša Štibelj @marusastibelj_collage . While she was staying at the artist residency Alte schule Hohenstein in Germany she wanted to do a collage exhibition about relationship towards ourselves which in the end turned out to be much more than that. She made series of collages that she connected with a story about a grownup Alice who gets lost again - this time in her thoughts and in her life. To get out of this mess, she needs to pick up the phone and call herself and when she does that, the adventure of finding Wonderself begins.
In Collagistas festival Maruša will do a public reading (in english) accompanied with collage pictures from the story. You will also have a chance to look at the book in person. Join Maruša and Alice searching for Wonderself in the world of collage.
"It is no fun to keep the good things only to yourself." (Alice in Wonderself)
Maruša Štibelj is an artist born in 1986 (Kranj, Slovenia). After she graduated in Art education, she went exploring movie industry, then she "pretended" to be a photographer and on the way she wrote some lines and thoughts. But somewhere in the middle she found her passion in collage. Putting things together became her mission, especially old things that are lost in the closet and long forgotten. In old magazines, newspapers, napkins and colored paper she looks for inspiration which she transforms into a new story with a current disguise. She likes to collect memories and prevent them from sinking. From 2015 she is a member of Slovenian fine art society.
