Super excited for the Ithaca Artist Market tomorrow! I will have some brand new pieces, a few originals that have been reframed (like this 3D layered dream catcher), a bunch of matted prints of my most popular designs, and all of my greeting cards. I'm thrilled to be part of this event & can't wait to check out the other artwork!
Micro snowflake cutting! The final locket is 0.75" (pictured in my son's tiny hand!). These snowflakes are a practice in patience & non-attachment. Sometimes they are too tiny to unfold without ripping the paper. Sometimes I'll unfold them and realize the paper folding wasn't quite perfect, and they're asymmetrical (there's no wiggle room for sloppy folding on tiny flakes!). Once, I opened up a snowflake & immediately sneezed, sending it flying somewhere in the forgotten corners of my house! 😂 Sometimes, they make it into a locket. 👍
"Maybe when I grow up, I'll be good at making paper snowflakes...." "You're already great at making them!" "I know. I've been practicing a LOT!" Finishing up a few last-minute things before tomorrow's craft fair in Greene!
Up & at 'em early, prepping for my first craft show of the year! Come find me at the Greene Arts & Crafts Festival this Saturday (7/22) in my hometown, Greene NY. I'll have lots of lockets, new greeting card designs, 3D-printed ornaments, my yet-to-be-released "Make your own blizzard" kit, and of course framed prints & original hand-cut snowflakes. My booth is down by Sidney Federal Credit Union. Hope to see some of you there! 😊
I had some help from my 5-year-old making lockets this afternoon! Naturally, he came in & wanted to help me instead of having quiet time while his sister napped. I folded the paper for each locket & let him draw the designs for me to cut out. He was very clear that I should ONLY cut out the designs he drew! 😂 It's amazing though, I love how they turned out so much more than the ones I designed myself! There's nothing like a 5-year-old's perspective to refresh your creativity! Can you tell which one he specifically designed to be "a semi-circle, a triangle & a trapezoid"?? ❄️✂️❄️
