🕋🕋🕋Art Africa Exhibition 🕋🕋🕋. From April 26th to August 28th 2017, Fondation Louis Vuitton presents Art/Africa ✍🏽️Chérie Samba, 🎨Little Kadogo - I am for peace, that is why i like weapons, 🚂2004
1956, The Democratic Republic of the Congo. Lives and works in Kinshasa.
Committed since the start of the 70's, Cheri Samba has made himself the spokesman of Congolese popular painting. Scene he admires along with his seniors, Bodo, Mass, Chéri Cherin, Moke. He quickly leaves his mark by introducing in his paintings texts written both in French and Lingala (language spoken in the Democratic Republic of the Congo). Inspired by day to day life, he touches on a wide range of subjects from current political, economic, social and cultural events of Kinshasa: ecological problems (Water problems), tragic events, corruption, Women's beauty, ravages of AIDS, renewal of global equilibrium, recognition of African art. In a figurative, direct, homorous and provocative style, his painting reflects, by their precision and their political boldness, an uninhibited vision of a turblent, agitated and resoulutely contemporary Africa. #art#paris#paris#art 🎨 #exhibition#parisart#photography#fondationlouisvuitton#artlover#artafrica#africanart#africa
Only took us some 15 or so visits to Paris before we made it to the Musée Jacquemart-Andre.... Imagine being invited to a concert or reception at this private home of M. Andre and his wife Nélie Jacquemart....a little tête-à-tête in this Winter Garden room? We settled for paying admission to the current exhibition of the Alicia Koplowitz collection. Y'know, a few Goyas, some Canaletto, a room full of Spanish 16th--18th century artists, a wonderful Modigliani, a Van Dongen wildly coloured nude with a hat (natch), a Toulouse-Lautrec Woman Reading (La Liseuse).....a luscious Rothko, two stunning huge textured works by Miquel Barceló. A Louise Bourgeois spider sized for your coffee table, a Giacometti....oh, and the simple, almost whimsical Egon Schiele watercolour Femme à la Robe Bleue. Really loved that one....#jacquemartandre#travel#paris#art#artexhibition#parisart#architecture#jardindhiver#hotelparticulier#selfie#hiddenselfie

✍🏽️Barthelemy Toguo, 🎨Look at me, 🚂2016
1967, Cameroun. Lives and works in Paris and Bandjoun.
Barthelemy Toguo passes freely from drawing, and sculture to video, to installation and to performance. He creates works inspired by his experiences, his travels and encounters. He depicts heterogeneous materials, organizes passages between western and African traditions and observes the resulting language and new identities. In Toguo's painting, colours and lines are linked. By using a very diluted paint or watercolor, the artist favours fluidity thus allowing him to form expressive anatomies, from wich the representation gains an organic quality. In Look at me! limbs, skeletons and vegetation tangle together in a dream-like dance of death. #art#paris#paris#art 🎨 #exhibition#parisart#photography#fondationlouisvuitton#artlover#artafrica#africanart#africa
