"It gets better, just hang in there!" .
People used to say this to me all the time, I would get so annoyed.
One reason this would piss me off was because I didn't want "better" I wanted AWESOME! I wanted to live an awesome life not just a "better" one.
Because I've been in that severly depressed state, I make a point to not tell anyone "it gets better". I do suggest taking that uncomfortable, incredibly challenging first step... Acknowledge that you need help and reach out.
I am so honored to be part of a great platform @thepepnetwork created for women of colour living and working in the UK to come together to network with one another for the right reasons.

COMMIT TO MASTERING THE PROCESS
People want instant gratification, without putting in the work.
That used to be me, until I went all in.
Nothing worth having comes easy.
Being a Dabbler or being a Master is a CHOICE.
What do you choose? 💥
I had envisioned this night for a long time & had pictured it happening in my head, but no words can capture the reality of seeing it take place tonight. Seeing creative women, meeting/connecting/sharing/growing. Tonight was OUTSTANDINGLY beautiful. I feel so deeply privileged to have been apart of such a thing. We need this. We need connection. We need regular, daily reminders of one another. We need more truth. More honesty. More courage. We are art itself.
Tonight was just the start. Creative women of Bath, THANK YOU! There’s much, much, much more to come. Today, tomorrow & all of the rest of the days. Thank you for everything each one of you brought to this evening. Thank you for your stories. Thank you. 💜
Day 3. No caffeine.
This wasn’t necessarily on purpose. It’s not necessarily a challenge, either. My body spoke and I listened. I do not need the caffeine anymore.
After have Baby E, my anxiety and mood have become extremely unpredictable. This postpartum time has been different. Way different than Baby A. And I’m okay with admitting that. I’m okay with acknowledging that things have changed. That the transition into being a mom of two is not an easy one for me.
I noticed that although starting each of my mornings with a fresh cup of coffee in bed brought to me by my hubby was GLORIOUS...I started realizing that my anxiety was increasing.. that If I wasn’t getting things done that I wanted to, I was losing it. That if I still had work to finish and the kids wanted to play, I may not have been so nice. That if something went ‘wrong’ or got too difficult, I would give up. That my chest was pounding harder, eyes were crying more and my heart was...closing.
As I started to become more open and unapologetic about these feelings, I began to have other moms reach out to me who were feeling the same way. Sharing their stories and being so transparent and honest with their feelings.
I just want us to BE REAL!
I mean, seriously! We are expected to handle unbelievable amounts of stress and change in an extremely short time span. It is not healthy for us to just suck it up and move forward.
We need to be able to feel what we need to feel without feeling judged.
I just need someone to agree with me for once! As a mom of two who left her full time job to be home with the babes, I struggled letting go of my ability to contribute financially and with being home all the time.
I decided to go back into business for myself and start a new one. Why? Because it is what I want to do! And instead of being told to take a break or let business and money take a backseat for a while, I want someone to say HELL YES, BECCA LET’S DO THIS!
I mean, #LETSBEREAL , when was the last time you had that kind of support with anything (other than the kids?) I know we are mothers. And we want to be the best mothers. But we CAN and WILL balance + enjoy it all!! Share below!
I was just reminded of all the good I lovingly saw in you...
Of the laughter in your heart that I brought forth and never made blue.
That spark of my passion deep within you that finally made you see...
That the untamed fire I fueled in your soul is born to no one else but me.
Of conversations I awakened in your gentle eyes...
Feelings you've hid lifetimes, I evoked effortlessly without any lies.
The possibility of a world you've dreamt of from long ago...
In my thoughts you saw your visions... for my heart naturally projected them so.
And all that I perceived of you, was the truth of who you truly are...
Through the distance between us it jolted you that I am nearer than far.
How can a woman from a land unknown to you speak your heart?
Darling no separation or circumstance can deny I'm your soulmate... your everlasting counterpart.-Sirine
I'm not sure what made me feel a need to write this just now, but it was a very strong feeling, a familiar presence. Like goosebumps... very intense. I was sitting in my bed reading and memories just flooded in all at once. So I simply wrote what my soul felt honestly. It may or may not make sense. But it makes sense to my soul. And that's all that truly matters. If my soul speaks I will honor it by following my heart, no matter what anyone thinks of me. Good morning or sweet dreams depending on where you are. I'm gonna read some more. GRATITUDE. I tell you what, there is absolutely no better feeling than when someone shows you genuine gratitude for your hard work and care. Today a patients partner was so grateful for the care, quick thinking & actions of the midwives on my ward that he went and bought everyone coffee (Even though we all politely declined the thoughtful offer when he asked us individually). What a man! He was fuelling the workforce today. Also I must give a massive 🙌🏼🙌🏼 to teamwork, it makes all the difference in the world when your on a shift and your fellow sisters have your back, especially when things go a bit crazy. And vice versa it’s such a wonderful feeling to be able to chip in and lighten the load for someone else when they’re under the pump. The aim of this rambling post is pretty much to say I’m stoked w/ my work colleagues and my role as a midwife despite its chaotic and sometimes stressful nature. There is nothing else I’d rather be doing as a career and despite having to do a late/early combo, having a crazy shift, being rostered to work all weekend and getting wet to the bone riding home from work this afternoon I still have a smile on my face and feel so blessed to be able to care for, guide, support and empower women and their families during such a transitional time #midwifelife#healthcare#shiftworker#blessed#gratitude#passionatewomen#wellbeing#midwifery#mindbodygram
Here’s to believing in yourself without fear of failure. •Believe in others without judgement & lift those around you up instead of knocking them down. •Believe that you are strong today leading to a stronger tomorrow. •Believe you deserve more & believe you are capable of achieving it. •Most importantly, don’t believe... but KNOW that if you work your hardest to achieve your “impossible” dreams... you WILL make impossible POSSIBLE. 💪🏼🙌🏼 #hearditfirst

Just launched my first ever cards 🙏 So happy to see my original artwork printed onto greeting cards.
I love nothing more than to draw meditation mandalas filled with energy and intention. Each original piece takes me many hours even days to complete and each stroke is done with love and intention.
Hippy Girl At Heart Cards make the perfect accompaniment to a gift and you can frame them afterwards to sit in your creative space or hang on your wall.
Created & printed in Australia 🇦🇺 Hope these cards brighten your day as much as they did mine while creating them. Every time I look at them I smile and am so grateful 🙏❤️ 📷 by @hippygirlatheart .
Tuesday transformation post coming your way... but unconventional for sure. This is more of a mental transformation versus a physical one. •
Most people going through a health/fitness journey will tell you, as will I, that the mental transformation that happens is just as, if not more, magical than the physical changes that happen. That ah-ha moment when your brain & body align, when they speak in unison, when they work together hand in hand. That’s. The. Magic. •
This is a great example of that mind/body experience. Using what you learn/know & applying it into an action. It’s one thing to learn the basics- & another to perform. It’s one thing to will yourself to perform at your best- & physically DOING your best. •
So what’s it going to be?? Put those dreams into action! Make the best of this year- it’s only just begun...💪🏼
Cat is out of the bag folks! 🗣🙀 no rocket science or special formula to achieving your health/fitness goals. It boils down to:
1. Food choice
2. Portion control
Whether you succeed or fail is how consistent you are with those 3 basic principles.
So whattaya say?! 💪🏼
