When the local independent healthfood store goes out of business and everything is 50% off you buy formerly expensive but healthy turkeys, like this 20 pound beast. Sad to see the store go though, only healthfood stores left here are @wholefoods and @earthfare.
Let’s talk chicken... I’m strongly considering running a few flocks of pastured birds again this year. I’m also considering using a processor so that those our friends in restaurants/foodservice will have a truly pastured local option. If you have any interest let me know. I’m open to suggestions while we’re planning feed and volume.
It's Monday again, which means another new week of #notatmydesklunch .
Today's lunch isn't the most colorful, but it's 100% tasty and
comforting. Threw a pastured roast from @fivemarysfarm in our
@instantpotofficial with some carrots and potatoes and came out with
What's your favorite comfort meal this time of year?
Holy YUM. I’ve been wanting to venture deeper into the head-to-tail conviction of eating properly raised animals, and roasted up beef marrow for the first time tonight 🐄🌎🙌🏻 It was surprisingly easy too. Just placed 2 pounds of marrow bones from @conscious_carnivore face up and roasted for 20 minutes at 375, then spread the buttery marrow on little toasts with walnut pesto. 💚 And no good nutrients go to waste so I’ll be throwing the empty bones in the crock pot for a day and a half and render some amazing grass-fed bone broth. This is probably going to be a weekly ritual. 😏
Turns out, Vital Farms and @veggienoodleco go together like butter and cauliflower rice. Ok, so that’s not exactly the saying, but the sentiment remains the same: our creamy, pasture-raised butter and their ready-to-rock riced cauliflower make this quick Buttery Curry Riced Cauliflower with Chicken a real winner-winner-chicken-dinner. Check out the full recipe on the @veggienoodleco website! #VitalFarms#SimpleButTwisted

“This place has never had a factory or mill, and it’s not making a comeback through tourism or gentrification. Agriculture’s the girl that brought us to the party and saved this town.” — Will Harris, White Oak Pastures
Our third Impact Journal sneak peek, “The Miracle In Bluffton: How Agriculture Transformed A Tiny Georgia Town From Dying To Thriving” tells the story of one town's revolutionary revival through the regenerative ag efforts of @whiteoakpastures. Led by 4th generation cattleman Will Harris, White Oak has injected a pride and economic vitality into Bluffton, Georgia that has been absent in much of the rural South since industrial agriculture took over. The result? A growing workforce of skilled, fairly-paid farmers who are turning out the highest quality and most responsibly-sourced animal products in the country. The next evolution of ag is changing lives across the country, y'all. Link in bio for the full article on this incredible story!
My kids love Belcampo #Cotechino . It's fully cooked and just needs to be warmed up so it's incredibly quick to prepare. This cotechino, handcrafted by @BelcampoMeatCo, is made with free-range, non-GMO fed heritage pork and is loaded with collagen. #youdeservethis#homecooked
Here is a simple change for the non vegan in your life. By switching out the carton with a non recyclable plastic screw top for 100% cardboard, I inherit a completely compostable container for my husband’s coffee cream that is 1 single ingredient. Because it is whole cream, he is also able to use less and still enjoy cream in his coffee. My goal is never to insist on veganism if that desire doesn’t originate from someone personally. My husband is a great sport. He will eat anything I prepare. He will try any way of making cream from cashews and all the ways I have tried that. He is also very kind in his request for 1/2&1/2. Last week, I asked him about this idea and this was the choice. There is always compromise when kindness is the motivator. An interesting way to use less and not inherit any trash in the process. Not for everyone, but for the non vegan, everyone wants to feel they have choice.
Last Saturday’s whole hog event was a huge success! Everyone had so much fun. We dropped some knowledge, drank some wine, ate A LOT of meat, and sent everyone home with free stuff! And guess what? We’re doing it again this Saturday! This time we’re cutting beef, tasting some lesser known steaks from the forequarter, shoving beef sausages in our faces, and giving away even more meat! Get your tickets through the link in our bio or standingsbutchery.com. Do it now!
Up at dawn and on the hunt for the best grubs, bugs and worms. That's how we do Mondays. Get your order in by midnight tonight to get the best pasture raised chicken, beef and pork delivered to your door this week.
Turned this weekend’s leftover frittata into today’s lunch 🤗 this stupid easy dish was made with 🖐 ingredients: egg, #grassfed cheddar, broccoli, salt + peppers. Whisked ingredients together, poured into a well oiled cast iron skillet and baked at 350 for 25-30 min. #yum
I need some egg inspiration... some egg-spiration 😉😂😁 // I love how quick and easy eggs are to cook up — especially on buys morning with the kids — but I seem to be stuck in a rut. Scrambled and hard boiled are my constant go-tos. // How do you like your eggs? Any amazing veggie scramble ideas or frittata recipes? All suggestions are welcome.
“I’ve been making these forever and started adding BUBS to the recipe. They have a lot more fats so they’re great post workout or between meals. “ @amckinney98
Whisk together on low heat:
1 c coconut oil
1/2 c almond butter
1/4 c cacao powder
1-2 scoops BUBS
2 drops mint essential oil (optional)
Dash of sea salt
Freeze into ice cube molds and store in freezer; should make 12.
The best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago, the next best time is now and the best person to plant it with is your dad 😊 Hope this little walnut has a long, healthy and prosperous life and we all get to enjoy it's shade.
Natures patterns form a circle and everything feeds the whole. In our system, at the center of that circle is the chicken. When the chicken fertilizes the soil, the sprouts absorb the nutrients and eventually that too is able to return to the chicken. Meanwhile the trees provide shade and protection for the flock and also draw down carbon for the soil and the cycle goes on forever in endless ways. 🌎 #circularecology#circulareconomy#poultrycenteredregenerativeagriculture
