The patterns of striations of the northern section of Patagonia Park, Aysen, Chile. Very beautiful. Carrying 18 newly hatched Lesser Rheas from their hatching point quickly onto the site of species expansion within the Park so they are adopted to their new father before a certain young and impressionable age passes them by. Dropping from 10,000ft down to below a thousand very very slowly so their young ears are not affected by lost of altitude. Most chatty and adorably valued cargo in a long time. Women river defenders in Bosnia stand watch on a bridge 24-7 since August near the headwaters of the River Kruscica. They are keeping the construction company trucks away that seek to channel away their water and many suffered abuse already by special forces police despite their peaceful protest but still stand guard. In Bosnia and the rest of the Balkans there are 3000 hydropower projects proposed or underway and being pushed quickly through by corrupt politicians and construction companies flush with capital from investors outside the Balkans in the name of "green" energy. Many see these projects as death sentences for the rivers that are drying up with the construction and water being channeled away for very little energy. Local villagers are beginning to rise up and take to the courts and capitals and construction sites to protest in defense of clean drinking water, sustainable tourism opportunities and to protect wildlife. I criss-crossed 19 borders in the Balkans in October and November of 2017 and found a groundswell of dedicated locals coming together in defense of their rivers in Slovenia, Croatia, Bosnia and Albania.
