Charity Miles 2017 #givingtuesday Challenge!
We have a day for giving thanks. We have two for getting deals. Now, we have #givingtuesday , a global day dedicated to giving back.
On Tuesday, November 28, 2017, charities, families, and businesses, around the world will come together for one common purpose: to celebrate generosity and to give.
It’s a simple idea. We want to take this idea and make it an ENTIRE WEEK long movement!
Today and through (12/1) you can earn 5 Charity Miles #givingtuesday Badges. Uncover all of the badges by changing charities, moving different distances, trying “indoor run or walk”, and logging miles on different days during the week. #iam1stphorm#fitmom#1stphormathletesearch#strongnotskinny#everymilematters#payitforward#teacher#coach#workoutmotivation

Black Friday! Stampedes, overnight campouts, brawls and fists fights in the aisles...you'd think I was describing the wild west but unfortunately this is the wild world of peoples frenzied attempt on saving 50 bucks off an even bigger flat-screen TV then they already had. It amazes me that just hours after celebrating all that we are "TRULY" thankful for on Thanksgiving day we regress into DESPERATE DISCOUNT DISCORD. Shopping carts turn into demolition derby cars as people jockey to reach the discount items first. Kind gestures and compassionate deeds dissolve into the COMMERCIALIZED PIT of "supposed" Needs over Deeds. It seems that the cost of civility is TOO HIGH a price. Items that will break, wear out and in the realms of technology, be obsolete next month take priority over how we treat our fellow man. It reminds me of a time when the world was witness to the greatest Black Friday of all time. The world was looking for a deal, but what this Man had to offer was FREE. It was looking for a discount but what this Man had to offer was a gift. What the world was grasping for was becoming obsolete, yet humanity had become so frenzied in their attempt to get the discount that they failed to see the Savior of the world, they failed to SEE Jesus. And yet on that Black Friday despite the lack of civility, despite the fact that his friend sold him out for the bargain price of 30 pieces of silver, despite the deluded selfish nature of humanity, despite it all, Jesus gave up all, in order that you and I might experience the greatest discount of all time...a gift that cannot break, wear out or become obsolete. A gift that only he could purchase, a price that only he could pay and on that Black Friday as he surrender all we were forgiven all and granted the opportunity to accept the FREE GIFT of eternal life.
"For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord" -make it count-
This is what it’s all about‼️I️ neglected to respond to this young lady inquiry in regards to ordering due to overwhelming amount of text messages... A few days before thanksgiving I️ reached out to her and apologize and told her I would have her order ready on Thanksgiving if she still wanted it. When she arrive I️ gave her the entire order for free, not b/c I️ had to be but because ION PLAY ABOUT THESE BUNS nor customer service #rightyourwrongs#beaccountable#payitforward#blessup#thankful#teamdoughgirl#rva

if you have followed our family's story for a minute over the past couple of years, then you know that foster care has become a part of our story in very every day, practical, profound ways.
here's the reality of caring for the vulnerable....sometimes in the midst of opening your home, responding to emotional meltdowns, educating yourself on trauma, coordinating services, and maintaining an open door policy to case workers and therapists, the kiddos that can get most overlooked are your own.
they have to roll with new family rhythms, let go of foster brothers/sisters they love as much as their own siblings, and surrender to this kind of challenging hospitality without training or peers who can fully empathize with the changes on the home front.
our kids have the same passion we do for fostering, but now there is an uprising in their souls to provide support for biological children in foster care homes. if you have a student/teen who is needing some encouragement and life breathed in their hearts, reach out to @marcy_smolen - she has a great online support group to connect them with.
Hope you all had a great Thanksgiving! This year and every year, we are thankful for the many advocates, donors and volunteers who make our work possible. Your support allows Father Joe's Villages to help hundreds of men, women, children, veterans and people with disabilities to find their way home. We owe you our deepest gratitude. About this week. We had the honor and privilege to provide 3 families with a Thanksgiving basket so that they too may enjoy a feast surrounded with love. "It's not how much we give but how much love we put into giving" Mother Teresa
Special day at the Clarion Inn and Conference Center Tampa-Brandon! Yesterday we helped serve Thanksgiving Dinner to families displced from the Tampa bay area and Puerto Rico by both hurricanes Imra and Maria. Interrupting your Black Friday feed for a little love and perspective.
Now don’t get me wrong I am definitely going to be participating in a little shopping today. But this morning as I’m looking through Instagram it’s pretty hard to look past all those sale ads and remember that we aren’t just purchasing, we are giving.
So instead of asking yourself “What do I buy for this person?” , maybe ask “Why am I buying for this person?”

"Taylor Harkins, 36, has created a niche for himself after so many years of struggling. He has become a star in the most unlikely place, a warehouse in Santa Ana where he is a model for e-commerce businesses around the United States. When CEOs visit Shop Goodwill in Santa Ana, the tour always stops in Taylor’s lair, where he creates worlds that blow their minds."

We are excited to be getting ready for our next group of @boyscoutsofamerica boys here @garageboundllc in March!!! Mad props to @miller_welders for all their continued support! @irondemonforge gave us these two lockable Miller totes and a bunch of other stuff for the welding merit badge classes we offer to the youth of our community! Proper PPE is very important to us while they are in our shop! We are proud to teach and educate the next generation of prospective Welders! We have a shortage in our area and are trying to do something about that! There are many ways to contribute if other vendors would like to participate in our two weekend class. DM me if you have interest. #payitforward#supportyouryouth#futurewelders#studentwelders
