One more studio visit from today's Open Studios. Wonderful etherial work by @jenileeart . In addition to seeing the artist's work, I always enjoy their process just as much. #pdxopenstudios#pdxartist#pdxpainter
*COLUMBIA GORGE FUNDRAISER FLASH #5 - CLAIMED* 🌿Old growth forest species 🌿 It's time for the FINAL fundraiser flash piece to benefit @gorgefriends🌲 Old growth forests are PNW ecosystems that have been able to grow undisturbed for a very long time, to the tune of centuries. The backbone of any Oregonian old growth forest is, of course, large conifers like the Douglas fir, whose canopy creates a rainforest ecosystem every bit as complex as those found in the Amazon. As these trees grow, they provide shade and protection to species below the canopy, as well as food to seed-eating fauna like the grosbeak from the late stage piece. However, what makes an old growth forest is the cycle of decay on the forest floor once these big trees have lived out their life cycle. As the big conifers die, they fall to the forest floor, creating incredibly rich conditions for species like Oregon grape, sword fern, and Pacific golden chanterelle to thrive. These forest floor flora give rise to small animals and birds, who make a tasty meal for raptors like the northern spotted owl, which is found only in the cascades. This old growth icon is severely endangered due to the destruction of habitat from logging, as well as climate change introducing new species of competing owls into its habitat. There are only a handful of old growth forests left in Oregon, but you'll know it when you're in one. From the canopy to the forest floor, the PNW old growth forests are teeming with life, and I count myself very fortunate to be able to experience them on a regular basis ✨ Email email@example.com to claim, MUST HAVE M/F AVAILABILITY IN OCTOBER 🏔 Thanks y’all. Let’s have some fun and make some $$$ for the gorge! (Pricing based on $100/hr rate) 🌲✨

16x20 palette knife on canvas.
My new scraper tool is pretty cool but I ended up heading back to the palette knife instead. I'm liking the colors and the texture.
It's getting to the point where I have to figure out what to do with my art. I have a lot hanging around.
So I'm sick again, and there's nothing to do but work on my website and get distracted by impulsive online shopping-- but I also put all my prints on sale for 20% off - super limited amount left and I want them gone! Link on profile🖤 .
Sorry for the hardcore glare on this one !
