1600 athletes. 24-hours. 21 obstacles. 5-mile laps. 1 30-ft cliff jump. Tons of electrical wires 😎. If it's one event that I look forward to every year, it's this. Last year I put in 62 unofficial miles, trashing my body for weeks. This year, I will be a contender aiming for 75 miles and a top 100 finish. CONTENDER COMING THROUGH!
One week from now, I will be pushing myself to the limit at World's Toughest Mudder, a 24-hr obstacle course race in the middle of Lake Las Vegas. It will be around this time where I will change into a wetsuit in defense of hypothermia as the notorious 37-foot jump called "The Cliff" opens up. It hasn't hit me until today as I rounded out my last night-ops workout; full-gear, wetsuit, and 50 hill repeats up the freeway overpass. The next 6 days will be complete rest and preparation for one last ride as it will be the last year this insane event is held there.
When I tell friends and strangers about this event, I often get either a confused face, a "you're crazy", or "why?" I seek the solace of uptra endurance events because it pushes you to go further, it motivates you to dig deeper and deeper the layers of your comfort zone and sanity, and through the sufferfest you come out stronger and wiser. When I hit the lowest points in the race, it reminds me of the harder times in my life and fuels my mind and body with the tenacity to overcome. ---
Taper hard, prepare for ANYTHING, and get PUMPED! The whole year of preparation, through the lows of my dislocated shoulder and meniscus problems, to the highs if my first 50/100km trail races. It all leads to this. Mudder Nation, you were MADE FOR THIS! I can't wait to see you all next weekend, whether we're getting electrocuted together at Operation, running up Everest, or flying high on King of Swingers. LETS GO!!!
Last week I finally made it to a beautiful falls that's been on my list for years. It was just as incredible as I imagined, easier to get to than I was led to believe, and I had it completely to myself 🤙
A few years ago, I ventured into the Eastern Sierra for the first time, specifically this lake. There is something inextricable about this place. Once you have tasted the east side, it's impossible to disentangle it from who you are. The simple way I describe it to people is "It gets into you." #theoutbound#perkyjerky#mountainstandard#ourwild#optoutside#goatworthy
I seriously almost gave up on buying Beef Jerky. I've tried at least 7 brands over the past year and have been disappointed every time. Bought this brand last night at Publix for my short road trip today. Hands down, the best jerky Ive eaten in years. The icing on the cake is they donate to the Down Syndrome cause. Kudos to them. #perkyjerky#beefjerky#healthysnacks#orangetheoryfitness#publix
"yin and yang, how seemingly opposite or contrary forces may actually be complementary, interconnected, and interdependent in the natural world" This image visualizes that perfectly to me, the yin and yang of the coast and ocean as rock meets water; spaces of blue water and green grass, lines etched in the dirt and sea, the blue breaking into the grey, eternal fluidity vs fleeting rigidity.
One of my first aerials with the @djiphantom 4 Pro while traveling the Sonoma Coast a month ago. Getting awesome shots like these actually takes a lot of other great too; my awesome @686 rain jacket that got me through a freak thunderstorm on Point Reyes, my comfy @katabaticgear down quilt that kept me warm hammock camping in the forest, addicting road snacks from @perkyjerky, and finding awesome places to visit on @theoutbound!
How is everyone feeling about the aerials in my portfolio now? Something you want to see more of less of? I'm having a lot of fun finding crazy places for aerial photography so I definitely have a lot more to share. This is a thermal feature from the Eastern Oregon desert.
Turkey Perky Jerky Packaging! My professor challenged me to make their packaging less "masculine" and more "healthy" looking. Go check out their original packaging to compare! Sorry for the awful & lazy mockups as usual. I promise they're prettier in person haha:
•Jerky Packages with all 6 different flavors + a new flavor I added. Each with a fun "bio" on the back.
•Jerky Stick with Turkey footprints at the back
•Shredded Jerky with a bronze rimmed tin
(I know I have a definite style and I need to work on being more contemporary lol)
