Not something I thought I would ever share but fuck why not.... if I can motivate someone to get their life back like I have then that enough is worth it. I let myself get to an unhappy place and this year I decided enough was enough and I wanted my life and confidence back. So far I have achieved that and actually started to love myself and my body. I can’t thank my amazing PT and friend @barbie_heng enough for helping me achieve that. She has pushed me and supported me every session along the way! 3 years between these photos but even that’s not the full story. I’ve got clients who want a #physique in a few weeks. Progress is possible DEFINITELY.... but this kind of #transformation is years. -
I was lifting for about 2-3 yrs before the left pic was even taken. I did lots wrong. I wasted a lot of time. I could have done things HEAPS better. But it’s all a #journey . I had to do all that to discover what I didn’t know. And to get myself into a place where I was ready to #learn .
My current physique is after 2 #compreps and 2 #bulks . Months upon months of consistent training and #nutrition . I will get decent progress in a few weeks and months yes, but the overall rig transformation can take YEARS. -
You can’t rush it. Build your foundation. Learn how to #lift . Work out the best #macrosplit for your #goals and stick to it.... day in, day out. Weeks and months on end. The rig I have in the second pic didn’t come just by chance. Or by working a bit harder in the gym for a few weeks. It took hours. Months. Years. Don’t wish for something that you’re not prepared to work for 💯. And not just for today, but tomorrow. And the day after that. And the day after that. And the day after that........ When your #motivation might not even be there anymore, but all that’s left is pure commitment. When you can look in the mirror, see no changes and still work your ass off regardless. That’s when you’re ready 🆗 #TransformationTuesday

Shin splints, aka Medial Tibial Stress Syndrome or MTSS, are caused by a chronic overload of the tibia bone, leading to weakening and ⤵ decreases in bone density from repetitive failed recovery. If pushed long enough, they can and often do lead to tibial stress fractures. In fact, these conditions are now seen as two points along the same injury ↔ continuum.
Healthy bone will respond and adapt to the stresses placed upon it. This is known as 🐺 Wolff's Law. Shin splints occurs due to chronic overload and inadequate recovery. So we need to take steps to decrease the stress (impact force & training volume) and increase recovery via relative rest while maintaining fitness via cross-training 🚲🏋🏊 activities.
Impact forces can be reduced by increasing cadence (steps per minute) and replacing your 👟 shoes every 300 to 500 miles, which is when they lose half their shock absorption ability.
Once you are back to training, a proper program will be critical to long term success. 📈 Incremental building phases coupled with a deload of about 30% of training volume every 4th week will give a good balance of stress and recovery for most people.
Take this game plan and put it into 👊 action today to start getting past this dreaded condition. Then, train smart with properly programmed rest to make long term, injury free progress.
