Day 62: Go as far as you can see; when you get there, you'll be able to see further. - Thomas Carlyle
Happy #motivationmonday everyone! We still need to wait 10 days before Kubo’s final set of shots kick in 😥 But excited to share our Big Bear trip with you guys. We only took him to places where there were no other dogs, just to be safe!
Back from the vets (2nd pic was me being taken there and I was NOT happy about the thought of going....vicious attack bunny?!? 😂). I've started eating again but still have to take three different medications until the end of the week. Then back to the vet on Friday. #recoveringbunny
HOW TO TELL THE GENDER OF YOUR BUDGIE! I'm sharing my post again for new followers and those that are still getting confused・・・
Learn these rules for yourself as you can’t always trust your petshop/breeder (I’d actually say never trust the pet shop lol).
The top two rows are male budgies; ranging from pink, to purple and through to royal blue. Males start pink and as they mature they turn purple and then dark blue. Notice they are all even in colour. BUT some males remain pink (or mottled pink & blue) even as adults if they are a specific feather mutation, for example pieds & lutinos. Just remember PINK = BOY.
The bottom two rows are all females; ranging from very light blue to brown. Females have light blue ceres with defined WHITE nostrils, sometimes displaying completely white/creme ceres. (Males can have lighter nostrils but they are usually blue if you look closely)
FEMALES ARE BLUE!! The blue of a female is very different to the blue of a male; it is paler, less evenly distributed and accompanied by white nostrils, so don't confuse the two! As females mature they turn brown and the ceres get lumpier. Notice that on the females there is no pink. Females will only be pink when they are very very young, and even then they tend to be light and show the characteristic white around the nostrils. Some people are seeing very pale colourless ceres and confusing this with unknown gender - it's not unknown, it’s female. They won't suddenly become male, and if it's not pink it's not male.
It’s 2018 so stop thinking that pink is female and blue is male, budgies don't follow gender stereotypes at all! If you would like to read more then check out my blog as I have many examples on there of both sexes.
Disclaimer: there are some budgies out there who don't want to follow the rules, but they are very few and far between, and sometimes it’s because they’re poorly.
