O objetivo deste estudo foi ampliar a validação dos principais índexes 3D de marcha para pessoas com Doença de Parkinson (DP), avaliando os efeitos da estimulação cerebral subtalâmica profunda (DBS) e levodopa na marcha. Os participantes tiveram sua marcha avaliada com estimulação, medicação ou uma combinação de ambos. Here's a nice short 🎥 of what happens when we lift things with a rounded 🥀back. Slowly but surely the curved spine will push the disc backwards like jam inside a doughnut 🍩 until it closes the space on the spinal chord🔥 and the nerves exiting the spine to service the rest of your body☠️

There's no surgery🚑that can "poke" these disc bulges back in so once it's passed a certain point 🚧we're going to be in severe pain simply getting out of bed🏥

We have all seen rounded back posture across the gym and simply winced 😣and looked away... Guilty ✋🏼

It doesn't take an elite coach in the gym to spot when somebody is lifting 🚨TOO HEAVY🚨for their back strength. So let's please look out for each other and tell each other 🙋🏻‍♂️(without ego) that the weight is too heavy and should make the weight lighter🔙

opening up the back line of fascia might require that you soften your knees to get and maintain the length in your back. It also requires the mobility around the ankle joint to be freer to lengthen that lower line of fascia that crosses over the  heel. 
Try this: ☀️In dolphin or down dog, get length in the spine and ribcage, not allowing them to round. Soften the knees as needed. ☀️Press the big toe mound into the floor ( I take an extra moment to make sure my big toe is pressed into the floor). ☀️Begin to lift and lower the heels with the press into the big toe. ☀️Take more energy into legs and get that spring feeling from the elastic quality of fascia. ☀️Spring !!! ☀️Feel the connectivity from foot to back of head- all of that should be LIT UP!! ☀️Have fun!

Si eres una persona propensa a sufrir torceduras de tobillo y esguinces, es probable que los músculos que estabilizan tu tobillo no se encuentren en un buen estado. 👎Aquí os traigo un ejercicio muy simple para trabajar esta estabilidad resitiendo tanto la inversión como la eversión. 🙌🙌

Para este ejercicio únicamente necesitamos una goma elástica y un lugar donde atarla.

1️⃣Colocamos la coma en la parte interna/externa de nuestro tobillo. 
2️⃣Ponemos una tensión adecuada en la goma que nos permita resistir su efecto pero requiera esfuerzo y concentración para ello. 
3️⃣Nos ponemos "de puntillas" desde esta posición. 
4️⃣ ❤ si te ha gustado el video 😉

Para variar la carga y dificultad del ejercicio 💪 podemos variar la tensión de la goma, pero también podemos cambiar la velocidad con la que lo ejecutamos, así como aguantar más tiempo al final del recorrido. . 👥Etiqueta a ese amigo que siempre se tuerce el tobillo. 👥

A belated post. It was my birthday yesterday 🎂 and I fitted in a quick 45 minute workout. 
Can you guess how old I turned? 
I often get told I look 10 years younger. Here's a little tip:
You don't stop exercising because you get old.
You get old because you stop exercising. 
#bestronglivelong •Elevated hex bar deadlift 100kg (I weigh 64kg). This is useful strength and power. The elevated position means my trunk hips and knees aren't as flexed but these joint ranges are more specific to my chosen sports: #boxing and #running, plus I can get faster bar speeds. 4 x 8 reps • Bulgarian split squat with rear leg elevated on jungle gym strap and kettle bell load. First time I've tried this variation, didn't feel it as much in my glutes as normal barbell and box squats, but I could feel my trunk and foot intrinsics working hard to keep balance. 20kg 15, 15, 12, 12 reps. •Kettle bell swings. Don't usually do these, I tend to stick to the basic compound movements but I like how you need coordination, power and balance to do these right. 
16kg 4x 12 •Cardio: 5x 3 mins shadow boxing

Slip to the outside & jab in, slip to the inside and jab in, pull back and counter, rear foot pivot Canelo style!!! 😆

We saw this lovely patient for her 6th session after her diagnosis of Achilles tendonitis 😲 a month ago!

After a full medial case history, orthopaedic examination and neurological assessment we went through her diagnosis and treatment plan.👨🏽‍⚕️
.
We used myofacsial  release techniques to her peroneal muscles, Qauds and Hamstrings. 💆🏽We then employed articulation, mobilisations, manipulations, hvts and adjustments to her ankles, SIJ, lumbar spine and thoracic spine to improve mobility! 🤓
.
We also utilised dry needling on her calf for pain relief! 👍🏽We have set her an eccentric exercise plan! 💪🏽we finished of every treatment with Kinesotaping for support! 😎
.
She reports a decrease in pain levels 3/10 instead of 9/10 and is now 70% better overall! 😃🙌🏽

How to Stretch Your Posterior Cuff?

A tight posterior cuff is associated with a handful of shoulder dysfunctions like subacrominal impingement syndrome, posterior impingement, anterior instability, etc. And thus, ⬇️ tone/increasing extensibility of the posterior cuff is part of the treatment protocol for many with shoulder pain. The cross-body stretch is a fantastic way to target the posterior cuff but far too often it is done INCORRECTLY.

‼️In order to effectively stretch the posterior cuff, you need to keep your SCAPULA STABILIZED ie your scapula CANNOT MOVE!‼️

❌If you pull your arm across your body and your scapula comes with it into horizontal abduction, the only stretch your getting is of your mid-scapular muscles like your rhomboids or traps. Furthermore, in this position there's more of a distraction force on the glenohumeral joint than a true stretch of the posterior cuff - aka not as specific as it can be.

✅First pull your shoulder blades back. This will keep your scapula in a retracted position. Only WHILE MAINTAINING THE POSITION OF YOUR SHOULDER BLADES BACK can you effectively target the posterior cuff. Pay attention to WHERE you feel the stretch, as you should feel a "deep stretch" in the back of your shoulder in the highlighted area on the video. If you feel a stretch or anything else not in the back of shoulder, you're either doing the stretch incorrectly or abutting other structures in your shoulder due to pathology (ie don't do the stretch anymore and seek out a physio if you're in pain).

O impacto tipo CAM ou CAME resulta de um formato anormal na transição entre o colo e a cabeça do fêmur. É mais comum em indivíduos do sexo masculino, praticantes de atividades esportivas, em média entre os 20 e 40 anos. Durante a flexão do quadril, a porção não​ esférica da cabeça femoral (protuberância ou saliência da transição entre colo e cabeça) colide contra o acetábulo. A cartilagem é descolada progressivamente, e também ocorre o destacamento ou rompimento do labrum. O labrum  é uma estrutura fibrocartilaginosa que compõe a periferia da taça acetabular, e tem papel fundamental na biomecânica do quadril, garantindo a estabilidade da articulação. Além disso, o labrum tem sensibilidade própria, e quando lesado causa dor.
 A queixa é de dor inguinal (raiz da coxa) irradiada para a região de dentro da coxa ou joelho, o que pode retardar o diagnóstico porque pode ser um pouco parecida com distensões da coxa e da virilha.

MASSETER MUSCLE SELF-RELEASE EXERCISIE

As a follow up to my previous post about the masseter muscle and myofascial treatment I wanted to show how you can self-release this muscle.
.
The masseter muscle (originates at the zygomatic bone and inserts at the mandible) is the strongest muscle in the human body and can harbour some of the most common trigger points. It is a major muscle involved in moving the temporomandibular joint (Jaw joint muscle). Excess tension here can be a big cause of headaches. This muscle works a lot and gets brutally tight over time. Clenching the teeth due to things like stress and anxiety will greatly increase this tension.

To help relieve some tension in this region, massage this area at various spots. Use firm pressure, work slowly, and try to relax your head, jaw, and face as much as possible. Spend 1-2 minutes doing this!

Releasing some of this tissue can directly affect and relieve your headache without the use of any medicine!

❗️If you suffer from headaches, or directly after any muscle release via fascial soft tissue work, it is very important to stay well hydrated. Pure water or Coconut water are the best options❗️
.
P.S.: If you have any dentist treatment, you should always have checked all the Jaw joint muscles after, as it can lead to exactly those problems mentioned above. Usually they won't appear right on the next day after, as the human body is very good at compensating, but they can appear anytime later on. Each single dental treatment is a kind of a micro-trauma, and if the body can no longer compensate them, it will come to situations!

SHOULDER PAIN SERIES 6/23 - MYOFASCIAL RELEASE OF THE SUPRASPINATUS MUSCLE
. 
Regarding to my previous post about the Impingement Syndrome I wanted to focus on the supraspinatus muscle and show some treatment possibilities.
. 
The supraspinatus muscle is one of the four rotator cuff muscles and the one most susceptible to injury. When someone tells me they are having a shoulder problem I ask, “Does it hurt to put your jacket on?” If the answer is yes, the overwhelming odds are that the injury is to the supraspinatus muscle and/or tendon.
. 
The four muscles of the rotator cuff are the supraspinatus, supscapularis, teres minor and the infraspinatus. The tendons of these muscles act like ligaments in a way that no other muscle in the body does, and as a result makes them more vulnerable to injury.
. 
The supraspinatus muscle follows the top of the shoulder blade attaching to the top of the humerus, the arm bone. The muscle helps to lift the arm up and is essential to all throwing actions, which is why it is the bane of so many athletes. When the supraspinatus muscle engages or shortens, the arm is pulled sideways away from the body. It also helps to stabilize the shoulder joint keeping the humerus pressed firmly into the shoulder blade.

On the pictures you can see how I approach the supraspinatus muscle for a myofascial trigger point treatment. In this case the 'Small Bevelled-Tip T-BAR' (St. John NMT) is very useful for releasing the tendon, the muscle stomach or even the subacromial space where the tendon or bursa can get entrapped!

Craniofacial Duplication - A very rare congenital deformation in which parts of the face are duplicated on the head. Also known as Diprosopus, this condition occurs in combination with other congenital disorders, particularly anencephaly, neural tube defect and cardiac malformations. When present, the brain may show abnormalities ranging from partial to complete duplication of brain structures, and/or underdevelopment of brain tissues.

It is caused by abnormal activity of the protein SHH, also known by the nickname Sonic Hedgehog. SHH and its corresponding gene have been found to play an important role in signaling craniofacial patterning during embryonic development. Among other things, SHH governs the width of facial features, and in excess, it leads to the duplication of facial structures.  Known instances of humans with diprosopus surviving longer than several hours past birth are very rare.

Conditions like this serve as a reminder that the human body is full of defects, and that while medicine is a wonderfully rewarding profession, it is still an imperfect science. STRENGTHENING OF THE CORE MUSCLES - EXERCISE VARIATION

Regarding my previous post about 'Activation of the Core Muscles' I wanted to show some more exercises which are very helpful if you suffer from inhibited core muscles because of 'Lower Crossed Syndrome' or even from back problems in general!
. 
Mobility, Flexibility and Stability of the spinal system are very important aspects to watch at! The 'Lower Trunk Rotation' and 'Upper Trunk Rotation' exercises as shown on the picture can help to manage it!
. 
Don't forget to activate your Core Muscles before you start doing this exercises but also in general before exercising like I explained in the previous post.
.
Good neuro-muscular control of the core and spine is the 🗝!
. 
My client @LuRendy was able to stabilize a lumbar disc protrusion L3-L4 playing professional tennis and avoiding a lower back surgery by following this training strategy!
