Was given the gift of fresh off the tree figs from @megan_whitten and her dad. Thought this would be the perfect opportunity to try out a recipe I have been dying to make, Fig Newtons from @joannebchang and her first Flour Cookbook. The flavor profile is spot on to the store bought fruit and cake. Which I love to bring with me on long bike rides. However, the taste and texture of this fresh baked cookie is a whole other level. 🙌 Awesome. This recipe is also a breeze to assemble and bake. It was rather strange to walk pass all those beautiful canterelles and ceps.
All I was looking for this time were small poisonous beauties.
And as incredible as it may seem I found one ... just after 10 minutes searching. ♡
Most important - now I know Bloodred Webcap mushroom (Cortinarius sanguineus) grows in our forest. Although it's poisonous it gives beautiful red colour. One of the best mushrooms for dyeing
My favourite time of the year. Crisp air, sweaters, & everything apple and pumpkin related! Now we’re just waiting for the leaves to turn colours 🍁 to say fall has officially arrived!
