Van Gogh meets Prisma meets picture book. What happens when you look at Van Gogh drawings before working on some picture book roughs. I love how his pen drawing give the sky as much energy - the sky in its dynamism has as much substance as the earth. # alchemy #drawing#rough#pencilrough#prisma#picturebook#vangogh#makingmarks
Quite often it is the most simple of activities that can bring about the best learning experiences. ❤️ Imagine how excited these children must be waiting for their food to cook on an outdoor fire. Love this! Something every child should get to experience 🥘

We cooked lunch over an open fire today. Baked beans, hashbrowns and bacon.
Thanks to the @kidlitexchange network for the review copy of this book - all opinions are my own. ☺️📚
My third-grade students loved this biography of Pete Seeger. While many of them were familiar with his songs, they didn't know the story of his life or the impact he had on American civic engagement. ***
My students loved hearing how Leda Schubert was impacted by Pete Seeger's music in the author's note. They also couldn't help but sing along when Schubert mentioned the names of songs they knew!
The main takeaways from this picture book include the power of standing together, the importance of speaking up, and the magic of stopping to listen. This is a great addition to any classroom biography section.
THE GIRL NAMED TERATAI(lotus): Teratai is a bookworm who dreams of travelling the world. Unfortunately, she is born into a poor family and they live in a rural area. That's why she spends time at her school little library reading books about places all around the world. She remembers Dr.Seuss' quote "Reading can take you places you've never been before.". She still wishes, though, she would travel for real. One morning, he went fishing with her father at a nearby lake. With sulky face, she asked "Will I ever travel the world?". Father calmly replied "yes, when you grow up." "We're poor and I believe this will be my fate too."said Teratai. "Look at these lotuses. From the muddy bed of this lake, they rise above the water and bloom to mesmerise others. Their humble beginning doesn't stop them from reaching the air. We name you Teratai for the same reason. May you grow into a successful woman one day." #illustrations#illustrator#picturebook#childrensbooks#kidslit#collageart#cutandpaste#readtoyourkids#story
Remember "Sam the most scaredy-cat kid in the whole world"? I'm sure you big Mo Willems fans do! He's the boy who Leonardo the Terrible Monster makes friends with in his book! Well, now Sam has a new, follow-up book of his own about how he learns to make a friend with someone else who is just as scared of him as he is of her. (And of course Leonardo makes an entrance. 💚) It's a fun and witty book about celebrating similarities as well as differences when making a new friend and is everything that you would expect from Mo and more. Now the "Leonardo story" feels complete. Thank you @mo_willems_pigeon 💚💚💚
My son's current favourite picture book - clearly he has a dark side like his mother. 😈 The language is too complex for a three year old so I tell it in my own words. He loves the concept and the illustrations as do I - it's both bold and unusual for a picture book to be black and white throughout. We like to be on trend, too, what with all the autumnal whoppers 🕷sneaking in the house at the moment. #TimeToRead#tonyditerlizzi#MaryHowitt#illustration#picturebook#reading#spiders
