One of the things I will never forget about Iceland, with all its amazing landscapes and immense outdoors... is interiors.
Their buildings seem so cold and strong and neglected from the outside. On multiple occasions we found ourselves entering buildings which we had no idea of what was inside, simply seeing others from a distance entering. Signage of any kind didn't seem to exist outside of Reykjavik. Yet once you walk inside you are greeted by the most amazing warmth/cosy feeling, normally with this incredibly lively atmosphere of people talking and music.
It's this polar opposite walking in from the cold + stark icelandic landscapes to beautifully filled cosy interiors. Lost count of the amount of times I thought I'd stepped in to an interior design magazine 😍 Iceland you have Style ✌
Isn’t Instagram the best for finding extraordinary design talent? I’ve fallen in ♥️ with Henrik Dybdahl’s work. He rather brilliantly describes his team as ‘heritage adventurers .. reimagining visual gold long forgotten’. Here’s some of that gold - witty and beautiful half prints which remind me of those children’s mix and match board books, albeit a far more sophisticated take on the formula than cartoon witches and pirates. Uh-oh, I feel a picture wall coming on ... 😉#thedybdahlco#design#heritage#picturewall
Looking for a soft finishing touch for your picture wall? My hand painted art scarves make a lovely alternative to traditional frames, and you can whip them off the wall to wear when you're in the mood for a little colour 🙌😍
