⚠️Warning - heavy post and pics that way ⇒⚠️ Lokah Samastah Sukhino Bhavantu.
A fitting Mantra in mind as I reflect on last nights events.
We went with hearts full of love to a pig vigil at #FarmerJohns slaughterhouse. In a kind loving and peaceful way we stopped 8 trucks for a couple of minutes before they went inside to offer love, prayer and water to the poor wee piggies on board. They were only 6 months old and had never seen daylight until they boarded this truck 3 days ago. Their 3 final days spent without food and water, and never knowing what it's like to be loved.
We were surrounded by compassionate beings, and got to meet @shaunmonson, the director of #Earthlings . I got to feed the pigs water, and pet their backs - their skin felt just like human skin. And they definitely didn't live the lives portrayed on the "happy farm" mural painted on the building, and even if that was the case, it all ends the same for them. Here at the slaughterhouse.
This world needs so much love, and I felt so helpless knowing 36000 pigs are killed here every week, which is only a fraction of the 56 billion animals killed yearly for our taste buds. All I can do, and all we can do collectively, is put love in our hearts and choose to make different decisions than we have done in the past. “May all beings everywhere be happy and free, and may the thoughts, words, and actions of my own life contribute in some way to that happiness and to that freedom for all.”
So much sadness in one night. I personally witnessed up to 20 trucks full of 5 month old piglets that were terrified, exhausted, ravenously thirsty and extremely filthy with their own excrement.
That pork on your plate wasn't happy and free roaming and excited to be your snack. That pig was just a baby that wanted to be free and live. These pigs are far more intelligent than your pets. They know something bad is about to happen. Open your eyes. #govegan#pigvigil#activism#losangelespigsavela#vernon#farmerjohns
I wanted these beautiful piggies to feel my love and feel how sorry i am for them before they get slaughtered, and sold in your nearest grocery store.
These babies are afraid, tortured, mistreated, and squished all together. That's not a life any of us want for ourselves or our dogs and cats or any pet we may have so why should these piggies be any different and suffer? Pigs are smarter then dogs, so they knew their precious lives were coming to an end.
I'm sorry little baby, I'm sorry I couldn't save you, I couldn't do much, but one day all this will change, and you no longer will be tortured, beat, kicked, shoved with chemicals, stabbed to death for entertainment. You'll live!!
These poor babies arrived at Farmer Johns slaughterhouse tonight exhausted and collapsed all over each other. At first glance they seem like they're all peacefully sleeping but the majority are so dehydrated they cannot get up. Some are on the brink of death. You can see the one on the far left sleeping like the angel he is completely unaware of what awaits him once he enters the gates to hell. The one in the middle desperately panting in despair, dehydration, terror, exhaustion, thirst, and many other factors. One particular pig in the previous truck was CRYING out in pain and agony 💔😢 If you have never heard an animal crying out for help, believe me it tears you apart inside. All you want is to take that pain away. That is why we do what we do. Even if we only get a few seconds with them if we can relieve even a little bit of their pain with water and kind soothing words, it's all worth it. They are worth it. Their lives matter. If this upsets you as it should, please consider leaving them off your plate today. One compassionate choice is all it takes to follow with another and another. One small step at a time. They don't deserve this miserable life and to be senselessly killed just for a piece of flesh on your breakfast sandwich. There is a vegan and delicious alternative to just about every food you can think of. There's no reason not to choose the cruelty free option. Think about it and at your own pace, by your own will, make the connection. It doesn't have to be this way. Be the change you want to see in the world. EVERYONE makes a difference. EVERY life matters. Let's make this world a better place, together. ✌🏼🖤🐷🖤🌹

I've obviously become very passionate about animal rights in the recent months. I got to join the Nashville Animal Save earlier tonight for a pig vigil (no live transport trucks came through while we were there) and met some really all-around wonderful people. It was worth it for the people who stopped to ask us why we were there and wanted to learn ☺ I have found my niche, it just sucks what has brought us together. They were so obviously full of love and I hope to see them again some day.
What a morning. It was definitely a success, even though we weren't able to stop any trucks. We learned things and that will make us better for next time. If you are interested in joining us for one of these, please pm us. We will continue to have our monthly #pigvigil , the second Saturday of the month, but we will also sporadically go out there on random days. We may or may not make events 'public knowledge- so do reach out on here or to @megsbea_vegan ❤️🐷❤️ Thank you @coffin.n for this post!
As painful as it was, I'm back two days later... I've been Vegan for two and a half years now and wouldn't have it any other way. Honestly, my only regret is that I hadn't done it sooner.. I am vegan for the animals and always have been. Animals don't have a voice so I am speaking out for them. We've, as a species, have taken away their freedoms and rights, so therefore, I will bear witness and help these animals to make up for any suffering I have caused in the past.
If you have a problem with it.... well... Can I say this? Tough shit. I have a clear conscience because I am not eating someone else's flesh, their diseases, their cancers, their fears, their anxieties... I'm not taking away someone's mother/ father/ brother/ sister/ son/ daughter away for my own selfish attachments. So, if you can't bear looking at these photos anymore or are annoyed at my "pressuring viewpoints" then block me, unfriend me, and stop following me. I've heard enough of the backlash since I started this journey. I chose to be vegan, just as you chose to eat meat. You post pictures of your bacon and juicey steaks or hamburgers and I post vegetables and yummy vegan burgers.
But why are my posts offending you and how are mine any different than you suggesting or selling me on that steak you are enjoying? Don't be mad at me for showing you the truth. This is factory farming and this is the pain and torture these poor babies have to go through from birth to slaughter.
I am vegan. I'm speaking out for the animals. I will forever be vegan, so these posts will never stop.
Tonight you pleaded for water. Your sweet snouts seemed to be saying, "More water, please. Please, more water." 🐽🐷💦 I'm sorry, sweet baby pigs. Your lives were cut short because we humans have been taught to eat you. We give you names like
#bacon and #sausage and #pepperoni to keep us disconnected from the reality that you're a sentient being that feels fear and pain, just like us. The majority of us would never hurt you but instead we pay other people to torture you & kill you. I know you all fought for your life tonight. I heard you screaming & I'm so sorry I couldn't save you. We'll keep trying. I, along with the other activists here tonight will share your stories & we'll keep educating the people in our lives. Sooner or later the world will wake up & realize that a meal is not more important than your life. #belove#bevegan#losangelespigsave#pigs#babypigs#govegan#loveanimalsdonteatthem#injustice#animalactivist#animalactivism#pigvigil
In a weeks time, I will have experienced this. In person. The number of sweet baby chickens' eyes I've looked into at #hallmarkslaughterhouse with @vancouverchickensave I don't even know. But every one of them, and the ones I didn't see, are still with me. Next Monday I will look into the eyes of sweet baby pigs on their way to getting stunned, strung up, stuck with a knife, bleed out and die a horrible death at #mapleleaf in Brandon, MB. 📷: @lightmoveme @manitobaanimalsave #pigvigil#friendsnotfood#meatismurder#bearingwitness
