It is so inspiring to hear that over 300 activists bore witness last night with @laanimalsave. How tragically beautiful it is that so many people offered these innocent beings a moment of kindness, respect, and dignity before they were brutally and needlessly slaughtered. Thank you so much to all of the activists who bravely face the despairing feeling of powerlessness as the trucks pull into their final destinations week after week. The stories and experiences we share, the photos and artwork, and the commitment to honoring these thinking, feeling beings is making a difference. People are making the connection. We are strong enough to do this important work. You are all beautiful and inspiring souls, some of the most wonderful people and new friends I've met, and it is an honor to serve alongside you as a voice for animals (until one day we don't have to anymore). See you next Sunday night. 🖤Thinking of coming for the first time but feeling overwhelmed and scared? Join us. We will do this together. 🖤 [📸: @chefitophoto]
my hands smell like pig
i've washed them over and over
no amount of water and soap can erase you off my skin
tonight i bore witness
big steel trucks stuffed with pigs
you breathe, almost, still
never felt the warmth of a human
you were scared
tonight i sang to you
hours and days without water or food
moments away from a brutal death
our souls mingled
a glimpse of time that will always be ours
caressing you, loving you
coarse hair on your trembling body
tonight i met you
they won't let your body be yours
they won't let your life be yours
tonight i said goodbye to you
Went to my 1st @laanimalsave #pigVigil tonight to bring awareness and give the piggies their last drink of water and last moment of human compassion before they are slaughtered by #farmerjohns . They were piled on top of each other unable to move. Unfed without any water for 2-3 Days. Hundreds of people bringing water and documentary filmmakers coming together for #animalrights#veganism#humanity#awareness Check out @moby @laanimalsave @peta for more videos and info on How you can bring awareness to the world too. There are so many #plantbased#proteins readily available now. Try them!
Animals are precious.
They have never done and will never do anything to deserve the way they’re used and treated. They are innocent.
Please consider leaving these babies off your plate. Animals are friends not food. ❣️🐷🐔🐮❣️ #friendsnotfood#govegan#pigvigil
We condemn them to death. They are separated from their mothers as piglets. If male, they will have their testicles removed by an unskilled worker, without painkillers. Fattened up until they reach the age of six months. And then they are loaded onto transport trucks and trucked anywhere from 24 to 48 hours, in the summer heat or winter cold, totally unprotected, standing in their urine and feces.
And then they are greeted by 130 or so activists armed with water, compassion and kindness, all bearing witness. Standing in for all the activists around the world whose hearts break every fucking moment of every day, knowing that millions of pigs, just like this little girl pictured, will have their throats slit for something as trivial as a palate pleasure. And we weep.
She is no longer with us.
This system of violence and exploitation only exists because we support it with our dollars and with our appreciation. At any moment we can remove ourselves. At any moment we can look into her eyes and promise to do better. Promise to live up to our highest ideals of kindness, compassion, decency. We can live vegan. Life is precious. For the animals. Vegan for life. 📷by @tonykanal #animalliberation#animalrights#vegansofig#vegansofinstagram#vegan#pigvigil#govegan @laanimalsave
About 10,500 pigs are slaughtered daily at this facility alone. That's 2.5 million a year. Think about how many slaughterhouses are in the United States. Also, it's 34 degrees in Louisville this morning. Pigs feel stress and they feel extreme temperatures. If you're going to eat meat, eat local, pasture and humanely raised. #louisvillepigsave#savemoment#pigvigil#vegan#plantbased @thesavemovement

Calling all Vegans and non-Vegans that haven’t gone to a Vigil. Don’t think about how it’s going to affect you, think about being there for the innocent animals. They need our help desperately. Doing something other than for yourself and truly embracing it will help you grow tremendously. Please come and bear witness, it will change you for the better, forever. ✌🏽💚 #repost @laanimalsave #laanimalsave#cowvigil#pigvigil#bethechange#animalactivism#govegan
Today was a joyous and heartbreaking day. Today I celebrated the amazing turkeys at @farmsanctuary and sang happy birthday to Regina the sheep. It was very busy but it was worth every minute. Today I also decided to go to my first vigil @laanimalsave. Today I saw the faces of hundreds of pigs going into slaughter. I saw their eyes as they drank water with desperation. The fear in their eyes. The screams of frustration and fear. All because of the ignorance of people. Everyone should experience this first hand. Rest in peace babies. #vegan#veganism#vegansofig#veganfortheanimals#farmsanctuary#sheep#turkeys#pigs#vigil#pigvigil
This look of fear and confusion should never be forgotten. This innocent being was herded off the transport truck shortly after this photo was taken and brutally slaughtered.
There is no mercy and no humanity that these animals are given in their short lives as they are driven through the processes of becoming "meat," save the briefest of moments when maybe, some strangers are able to give them a little bit of water and a soothing word or touch.
Don't be part of the system that condemns them to endless suffering and pain and despair. Go Vegan. The animals need you. We are their only hope.
To join a vigil in your area visit @thesavemovement. This photo was taken at the @laanimalsave vigil at Farmer Johns.
Stopping the trucks going into the slaughter house so we can give the pigs their first and last bit of love before being senselessly slaughtered. #nofear#pigvigil#animalactivism#govegan @torontopigsave @thesavemovement
Bore witness today to these beautiful animals, looking into their eyes was absolutely heartbreaking... Did you know that pigs are only around 6 months old when sent to slaughter? You are eating babies. A 10 minute meal for you is their whole life for them. 💔 #govegan#noexcuses#pigvigil#dontsupportcruelty @torontopigsave @thesavemovement
Please come bear witness and see what you actually pay for when you purchase animal products. Don’t hide from the TRUTH, embrace it, learn from it and grow into a compassionate person. ✌🏽💚 #repost @laanimalsave #cowvigil#pigvigil#laanimalsave
Show love and compassion to ALL animals instead of paying for their rape, torture, mutilation and slaughter. You have a choice every single day, multiple times a day to choose a compassionate way of living. Why are Vegans looked at as extremists? People choosing NOT to pay for an innocent animal to have its throat slit, doesn’t sound extreme to me, does that sound extreme to you? Choose love over death, choose compassion over torture. ✌🏽💚 📷 the incredible @chefitophoto @laanimalsave Bomber Jacket by @humaneproject #laanimalsave#pigvigil#humaneproject#govegan#bethechange#vegano
The pictures are blurry because the truck started to move while I was trying to take pictures... As you can see this piggy seems to have cuts on his body... After, months of being mistreated, this sixth old month baby was pushed into a truck, with others like him. They were crowded and could barely move. They weren't given any water for hours and had to endure standing on their feces and urine. After what seems like a lifetime, he arrives to that horrible place, where his life will be taken away from him. Compassionate people give him and his friends some water, trying to them at least give him some comfort, so that he may be strong for what awaits for him once he passes those gates and enters hell on earth. He will go in alive, as a whole but will come out dead and in pieces, and people like to believe that something humane happens along the way. Well nothing humane happens in a slaughterhouse! These animals are suffering since the day they were born to the day they are brutally murdered! But they wanted to live! They wanted to be happy and be free! And I know that he is gone and so is everyone else in those trucks but we will not stopped fighting for them! We will achieve animal liberation! We will not stay silent! We can't stay silent! Because if we do we will be normalizing this great injustice, and they will become unknown. RIP my beautiful friends! We will never forget you... Eyes are the windows to the soul. Look into her eyes.
She’s scared. She doesn’t want to die. But she did. She died. And it was because we wanted to eat her body.
So when you see me speak up for animals, I don’t want you to congratulate me for my bravery, I don't want you to call me a badass, I want you to listen to my message of compassion and change your lifestyle accordingly. We live in a society where animals are "beneath" us and as such, we are able to abuse them in all kinds of ways. This is not the right way to live. And this is not my Truth, it's The Truth.
Please open up your hearts and have some compassion for the most vulnerable Beings on this beautiful planet that we call Earth. They need us.
Please stop eating my friends. 💔🐽
Last night was my 3rd week in a row at the Pig Vigil at Farmer John's Slaughterhouse. It was hard, of course. I spent much of the evening trying to generate love, in the form of a bright beam from my heart, surrounding every truck of shaking, thirsty pigs that passed by. In the past I couldn't do it, couldn't find any love in this place so devoid of all things sacred. But last night, with a lot of practice and patience, I found it, a white peaceful energy flowing through me. Imagine if we all practiced generating love in the darkest of places, and imagine if we all practiced living in a way that put an end to these darkest of places. 💛💙💜 If you'd like to join me next week, or are curious about easy meat-free meal tips, feel free to DM me. We'd love to welcome you 🙏 📷: @chefitophoto
#losangelespigsave Sunday 10/15th
my first #pigvigil 🙌🏼🙏🏼 (Sorry I wrote a lot)
Your “food” was a living, breathing, desiring (freedom), loving, scared sentient being! I saw, and I witnessed its existence. It was not a product, even it was packaged and sold as a product.
It had never, ever occurred to me that I would be an activist to anything, but there I was, for the first time, baring witness to all the pigs who were on the way to get slaughtered at Farmer John’s slaughter house. •
I wasn’t planing to go last Sunday night 10/15th. I was on my way home after a delicious vegan meal and was planning to continue the lovely evening by doing something lighthearted. Bearing witness is not lighthearted by all means. •
These Innocent, majestic, beautiful sentient beings were on death row, not because they committed any crime, but because of the thickness of their skin, the taste of their flesh and the body they were born in. Simply put, their particular species! This kind of injustice, doesn’t it sound vaguely familiar? •
My mind was indecisive, but my arms and legs took charge and steered the car towards downtown Los Angeles. I had been holding off from going because I knew it would be too emotional of an experience for the faint of heart. •
And I was the quintessential model of the faint of heart. I had always stayed away from horror films (I still don’t watch them), and yet ever since I made the connection to become a vegan in July this year and started educating myself about animal cruelty, I had seen nothing but horrific gory footages of animals being mutilated and exploited. •
While horror films are fake, animal cruelty is real and systemic - from the unethical oppressive animal farming industry to the law that stipulates rescuing abused farmed animals is an act of TERRORISM. Healthcare doesn’t care, doctors are not trained on nutritions, and we are told by our parents and society that we must eat meat to survive. Propaganda much?
It is so inspiring to observe and experience fellow activists stand together for what is right. 🖤 Join the revolution to end animal exploitation, where you will be supported and embraced by some of the most beautiful humans in all the lands, while serving as a voice for precious souls who deserve better than this. 🐽🖤 We can all start by leaving the slaughtered bodies of living creatures off of our plates.
Thank you @chefitophoto for taking this incredible picture of my daughter, it's literally worth a thousand words. The way this poor baby pig was looking at her... 💔 At @laanimalsave weekly vigil 🐷 #raisingacompassionatechild
This baby was so scared. She is gone now. No one should have to live this reality. Please join us on the next Louisville Pig Vigil. October 27 at JBS Swift slaughterhouse. Corner of Bickel and Main St at 7:30 AM. 💔
Beautiful activism. I just love this account. Full of beautiful art and words of a talented compassionate human.@oneheartillustration (@get_repost) .
With more people knowing the negative impact of meat consumption and the positive impact of a vegan lifestyle, meat companies are facing an obvious sale decline. Some companies start using "interesting" ways in attempt to reboost their sales. On Sunday and Monday a pink Become A Pork Lover van came to Edinburgh during its U.K. Tour. Me and other activists protest in front of their van and held an outreach. We show slaughterhouses footages, put our vegan food and hand out vegan leaflets. I have had conversations with a lot of pedestrians, and we had delivered more than 700 flyers in four hours. Because of our activism, less than 20 people actually went into their van for their pork. This outreach is so important because we are sending a strong message to meat companies that WE ARE READY AT ANYTIME TO FIGHT TO END ANIMAL ABUSE.
I LOVE how swift activists act in this instant. If similar ridiculous thing happen in Hong Kong, I promise I'll be out on the street to protest. Hong Kong vegans and activists, will also you be ready?!
A brief moment of compassion captured at the @laanimalsave pig vigil on Sunday night by my friend @aaronasr ~ the only moment of compassion they ever knew. They were just babies, terrified and thirsty, just moments before they were slaughtered. We see you, we love you and we're sooo sorry we couldn't save you.😥 We're trying. Please leave these babies off your plate!

#protectlily 10/8/17 Last nights vigil with @laanimalsave @thesavemovement we gave thirsty animals water, love and the only compassion they will ever see. These two six mouth old babies are no different then your dog or cat at home. They were terrified but we made eye contact, they knew I wouldn't hurt them. I'm sorry I couldn't stop them from hurting you!!!! 20 trucks came last night within a two hour period. 6,000 pigs are electrocuted, boiled alive, and slaughtered without mercy here every single day. Please stop eating animals. •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Bacon, ham and sausages rank alongside cigarettes as a major cause of cancer, the World Health Organization has said, placing cured and processed meats in the same category as asbestos, alcohol, arsenic and tobacco. @wthfilm •••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• Healthy planet based meats are readily available at any supermarket. Plant-based bacon, sausage, cold cuts anything you want! Vegan is literally as easy as just buying something else. Be on the side non-violence and justice!
It was an honor to play the crystal singing bowls last night. Vegan activists gathered around, listening and feeling the vibrations move energy through our bodies. We took deep cleansing breaths as a community, embracing the importance of self care. We came to bear witness to the pigs, giving them water in their last moments before entering the Farmer John slaughterhouse. Pigs are usually slaughtered when they are between 4-6 months old & at Farmer John's, they kill 6,000-7,000 pigs a day. 😪So you can imagine the heavy feeling in the air, and the smell of pigs being trucked in dehydrated, covered in their own waste, injured, sick and some already dead on arrival. Our message is compassion and love. Those pigs are gone now, but they won't be forgotten. Let's be the change for the animals, humanity, and our planet. ❤️🙏🏼🐷#support#each#other
Me and this amazing group of people @laanimalsave will always be willing to give you water and show you unconditional love. You deserve to be free and happy instead of living in pain & fear. We humans are the worst animals to have ever lived on this planet. We are truly sorry for the people who continue to pay for this insanity. We are working on it. We are here for you today, tomorrow and forever long it takes to see all of you free. Please come bear witness on Sunday’s, it will change your life for the better as it did mine. I LOVE all of you guys, you’ve helped me tremendously.✌🏽💚 Photo credit: The Amazing @chefitophoto #laanimalsave#animalsarefriendsnotfood#animalactivist#govegan#pigvigil#wearethechange#myveganfamily#fuckfarmerjohns
Last night I went to my first @laanimalsave pig vigil at Farmer John's Slaughterhouse. We gave water and comfort to the hundreds of 6 month old babies headed for slaughter. There were about 16 trucks, each 2-3 tiers full of pigs who had traveled 36 hours with no food or water. This happens every day, all over the world. All of the unique individuals I met last night on these trucks have been killed now and their bodies are in pieces. If you haven't examined your choices for speciesism and haven't gone vegan yet, please come to a vigil. Meet them in person. Look into their eyes and discover how terrified they are for yourself. All animals are just like humans. They feel pain, love, suffering, have families, friends, and complex emotions. There is no justification for taking their lives, and a truly just world can't exist while we are still exploiting and objectifying and murdering our most innocent. 🐷💔
With @laanimalsave @thesavemovement last night bearing witness and giving water to pigs headed to slaughter at Farmer John. They were just babies, fattened up for slaughter at just six months old. They were so terrified and what happened next is unimaginable.💔 Their screams are heart-shattering and their pain and fear is real. They don't deserve this. Please leave these babies off your plate🙏🏼💚🐷
Tonight 🐷 Outside of the Farmer John slaughterhouse, we will be gathering to bear witness to the pigs as they arrive by truck to the facility. We will give them water 💦, and comfort them before they enter Farmer John's. Please come out and support. 🙏🏼It will be a peaceful gathering. If you can't attend, please send love and peaceful energy to us and the pigs. 🐷🙌🏼❤️ Thank you
