Not sure if this is a #vata reducing and #pitta balancing food but it is what I was craving. I did not want a cold salad because I am on my moon and want to keep my gas and bloat down. In this heat I wanted something refreshing. Here's a twist on the #Greeksalad #mediterraneansalad with a #mexican #southamerican flaire. Steam nopales and cabbage chop cilantro heirloomtomato daikon avocado add the steamed veggies add sunflowerseeds or any seeds or nuts. Squeeze lime add oliveoil and pinksalt and toss. You could also add pickled beets or any other crispy root veggie! Fall food for hot weather. #foodismedicine #eattherainbow

This has been the beauty / godsend/ game-changer Ayurveda has brought to our lives. Years back our pantry shelf was filled with expensive 🤑 pills, potions, vitamins and minerals.  Most were probably urinated out the next day and at best they provided a sense of doing something for our health rather than doing nothing. 
But now, right diet for dosha, seasonal changes for climate and daily regulars like oil self-massage (assists lymph and detoxifying), homemade chai and sauerkraut and plenty of home-grown greens is enough to keep us healthy. 
Yes it doesn't hurt that I'm an Ayurvedic health coach so I know what to do .... but I did start this path only a few years ago. The changes have been slow, steady and life-changing.
Not to mention saving us 💰

Made kitchari for lunch today.  It’s easy on the digestive system and still packs protein in with the mung dal beans.  Just basmati rice, yellow mung dal beans, zucchini squash, ghee and mixture of spices: brown mustard seed, turmeric, salt, cumin seed, ginger, asafoetida, and fenugreek.  Simmer for 45min-1hr and voila!

Day 23 #breastcancerawareness Part of my #fallcleanse protocol is adding both ground flax seeds and flaxseed oil to my daily regimen. From the #ayurvedichealth perspective flaxseeds help clear #pitta from the system, nourish #ojas and promote regularity. I’m also keen to support adrenals which they do however, there is so much research being done and clinical testing carried out connecting Flaxseeds and Breast Cancer survival. #Lignans (present in very concentrated form in flax seeds although can also be found in other seeds, whole grains, fruits and vegetables) have been shown to have a direct anti cancer growth effect and to prevent cell migration.  Some studies have found flaxseeds as effective as Tamoxifen in blocking inflammatory molecules in the body that feed tumours. Plenty of stuff to google if you are interested.//
Don’t go overboard though! 2 tablespoons of freshly ground flaxseeds is ample for a day’s intake. If you have or are in recovery from cancer check with your doctor before adding this to your diet. [It’s wonderful added to a morning bowl of oatmeal.]

2 Medium Avocados, diced
4 boiled eggs, diced
Bell peppers, chopped
Spring onions, chopped 
Cherry tomatoes, chopped in quarters
Cucumber, chopped
Dressing - Mix 1 Tbsp vinegar and olive oil - 1 tbsp Dijon mustard - salt and black pepper to taste .

Instructions .

Place all the ingredients in a large bowl then add the dressing and toss until everything is covered in the dressing. Scoop and add the filling to the toasted pitta bread. Enjoy! .

Coffee is a "no go" in Ayurveda, at least not daily. The only constitution that gets away with it is kapha and the rest of us, in the spring. This is because it's a little too light, sharp, dry for the rest of us.

I gave up coffee for 4 years and then realized once again how much I love it and the coffee shops I find it. Now I consider myself a conscious coffee drinker. I never have it on an empty stomach, I often put cardamom in it to diffuse the acidity and nervous energy it brings and I don't have it if I'm already feeling anxious (or motion sick--coffee makes car rides worse for me). Mine most often is in the form of a latte or includes non-dairy milk in some capacity.
