I love competing in bjj. When you’re consistent in your training and putting in several hours per day, the itch to compete comes up every month. You want to test yourself and see the improvements, you want to see the hard work pay off. Competitions can also show you your weak areas, as they can often be exploited by your opponent. This forces you to sharpen up these weaknesses when you get back to your gym. Competitions make your jiu jitsu better, and that is a fact. I will compete in this sport for the majority of the rest of my life. I will do so because out there, facing an opponent from a different academy, you will know if your hard work is paying off; out there the mats don’t lie. #MatsDontLie#Competition#Porrada#HardWork

The chocolate one was tastier than the pumpkin one in my opinion.
I noticed is that pumpkin tastes a lot better in desserts than cooked with rice for example.
Which means if you dislike some kind of food, using it in another food category might help 😄 just like for example if you hate raw spinach, you can use it in a smoothie 💁🏻♂️

Finally back to training after a cold that knocked me out for 5 days. I haven't been that sick in years. Picking up the pieces this week - reduced the training intensity a bit, but increased the volume to get acclimated to training again.
5 x 5 @ 155 lbs. & 165 lbs.
No max effort for me on this max effort day 😟 My body needed a little break after suited squats and shirting up. I always look forward to maxing out, but don’t want to burn out a few weeks from a meet!

Pulse together in a food processor or high speed blender the dry ingredients then slowly add wet ingredients:
🔅1.5 cups of rolled oats
🔅3/4 cup buckwheat flour
🔅Pinch sea salt
🔅Scoop of plant based protein powder (I use vanilla @pranaon)
🔅1 tsp chia seeds or flax
🔅Dash of cinnamon
🔅Dash of ACV
🔅Tiny dash of vanilla essence
🔅1 tsp baking soda
🔅1.5 cups rice milk (slowly added to the mix depending how thick or thin you want them)
Top with berries, banana, maple syrup or choc sauce made from maple syrup, dates and cacao.

T-spine & Respiratory function: Importance of thoracic mobility.
To inhale, respiratory muscles such as the intercostals, and the diaphragm contract. This causes the chest cavity to expand, and thereby creates a negative pressure inside the thoracic cavity, which makes air rush inwards. The negative pressure caused by the expansion of the chest cavity forces the lungs to expand downwards toward the contracted diaphragm. Once the lungs reach the limit of the diaphragm, further expansion must come from the rib cage (which connects to the T-spine)😏. The ribs must elevate to expand, and this motion is coupled with T-spine extension. Mobility throughout the T-spine is essential for efficient respiratory function.
This is important, as breathing shallow is usually accompanied by a dominant sympathetic nervous system, which depresses immune responses. Immobility throughout this region may also inhibit recovery during cardiovascular exercise. If your client or athlete shows signs of immobility throughout this region, this may be a great place to start in enhancing performance and QOL.
