Gorgeous Codiaeum “Petra” Croton to inspire your day! These beauties are admired for their attractive green foliage with various shades of yellow to orange to deep red. These types of houseplants grow wild in the tropics and can reach an amazing height of up to 8 feet tall and 6 feet wide! Grown indoors, they would be most happy in a humid environment with regular watering. Don’t be alarmed though if you notice the leaves start to drop when you bring one home. These guys are creatures of habit and don’t like to be moved around too much. If this does happen, just continue with regular care and they will bounce right back. 🌿
These are the bracteoles of 7 different species of the Acanthacae Mendoncia from South and Central America. They are all incredibly distinct and this drawing has them all drawn to the same scale so you can tell they are also very different sizes. Some of them had incredibly long hairs on them and others were nearly entirely hairless.
The botanist I was working for found a few more specimens that would be good to add so I'm going to keep working on them and add to the plate!
My #oxalistriangularis has died 3 times and come back alive for 4 times with even bigger leaves. Aside from the facts that I am a lousy plant keeper, I am not so sure what’s the definition of fragile and strong anymore. But, I know for certain they’re being very understanding.

I grow plants for many reasons: to please my soul, to challenge the elements or to challenge my patience, for novelty or nostalgia but mostly for the joy in seeing them grow. David Hobson
Snow kale, anyone? 🤣🤣🤣 I don't know why I find this so funny, but this kale plant just won't die! I knew they liked cooler weather, but this is just crazy! I started growing it indoors from a seed almost 1 year ago. It barely survived an ongoing cabbage worm infestation (I went out several times a day and hand plucked the buggers off for like 3 months straight) but really started taking off in the fall. When the snow finally flew, I tucked it under the stairs (where it still gets decent light and water) and now it's still kicking! Photo taken today while it is currently being rained/snowed on. A small reminder of how strong/mighty plants can be! 🌱

def not anticipating the hastily rushed mornings cramming down a semblance of breakfast, trying to keep my eyes open during lessons & staying up past sane hours to get assignments done. blehh nope just thinking about it fills me with dread ._.
I’d like to start this week with something small and delicate. This baby #alocasiatigrina is my second attempt after the first one has sudden died of no reason. Sometimes they plants do that, but no matter what you do, please don’t be sad. Have a great productive week and teal is indeed my fav colour 💙
