Day twenty/31 of #digdeepyogis journal. Yoga has...
Yoga has been a safe haven for me. I started practicing when I was depressed and anxious, and despite the fact I still suffer with both conditions, yoga has been one of the most helpful and productive ways to tackle them. Yoga has given me space to think, to be present, to focus on myself. Yoga has taught me things I never knew about my body and my mind. Yoga has introduced me to new concepts, new lifestyle, new people. Yoga has shown me I can choose how I want to live my life. Yoga has taught me patience and perseverance. Yoga made me let go of some of my biggest fears.
Day nineteen/31 of #digdeepyogis journal. Connection.
Since this is a yoga challenge I'm inclined to talk about connection to my body, and connection to my surroundings. Out of all physical practices, yoga is the thing I stuck with the longest - partly because I enjoy it, and partly because I no longer see it as exercise. It allowed me to be aware of my body, it provided space for me to be present and mindful, it improved my mental health, my physical health, and it also introduced me to some wonderful people. I've come to appreciate my body, understand it, and it never ceases to amaze me the kind of things human body is capable of. Whether it's due to practice or not, I also feel strongly connected to nature, especially in the last few years. Ever since I was little, I enjoyed camping trips with my family, canoeing down the river, swimming in lakes, foraging berries in the woods, watching the sun rise. In the last few years I have grown to appreciate it a lot more, I learned a lot about environmental processes, and became much more aware of the impact my actions have in the planet. Nowadays going away into nature gives me the strength to come back to the city and carry on living. I saw a beautiful quote on my feed the other day that sums it up 🌍
"And into the woods I go, to lose my mind and to find my soul..."
The more 🌈 in your food the better. #colouryourlifehappy with #bioraw meals! 😊We love to flood you with nourishment while you #skipthedishes . Oh & would it reallllly be a true #bioraw bowl without being accompanied by both @tonicakombucha & @michellesrawfoodz ...no, no it would not be 😜
BIG BANANA'S IN THA HOUSE🍌 We hebben weer grote bananenplanten in de winkel [afmeting 1m50 en 1m70] compleet met pot, voeding en verzorgingstips zodat je ff vooruit kunt. Ennnn 👉🏼 Gratis bezorgd in Breda.
"If you spoke to your friends the way you speak to yourself, would you have any friends?". What a powerful quote 👆 Why are we so rude and hard on ourselves? We don't need to make everything so difficult all the time. Slowing things down, being patient and self love are all intertwined with mindfulness. Starting to practice these simple yet challenging tasks everyday 🙏🌻 Currently munching on some of these sweet juicy apples from the local market 🍎🍎
koko rice - this is a local favorite that we fell in love with while living here. the local recipe calls for coconut cream, rice, sugar & koko samoa. this morning i made it with leftover rice from dinner, almond milk, koko samoa & banana, such a yummy treat👍💦😍
Day four of #yogisinthetreez was monkey pose, or any variation of splits - mine is upside down and it was a lot harder than I expected 🐒
I'm kind of a sucker for kombucha. I live drinking it, and can really feel the difference whenever I drink it. I'll finally start brewing my own very soon. But whenever I get the chance to try different kombuchas, I do! I tried some here in Hong Kong from @taboocha ✨ Fantastic packaging, and they donate to animal charities! #THPnourish#THPexplore

🍫💚 Raw Peppermint Patties 😱🍫💚 STOP EVERYTHING. I'm not one to toot my own horn but seriously, these are pretty darn life changing! 👅 Think a mint-flavoured aero on steroids. 🙉
These peppermint patties are so easy to make and they taste even better than the not-so-nutritious-yet-utterly-beloved mint slice biscuits. They are refreshing, light, and make the perfect post-dinner treat. Kids will love getting involved in the preparation and best of all, you won’t feel guilty about them licking the spoon, as the recipe contains nothing but all natural, wholesome ingredients. 👌
Using a silicon muffin tray that allows you to simply pop the patties out once set is an easy, convenient way to ensure each patty is the same size and avoids any dessert serving-size politics #UNdinnertable 👍👍 However, you can easily use different molds to create your desired shapes and serving sizes. If you have leftovers (doubt it!), these keep well covered in the fridge or freezer.
Menthol and methyl salicylate are the main active ingredients of peppermint. Internally, they have anti-spasmodic actions, with calming effects on the muscles of the stomach, intestinal tract, and uterus.
They also have powerful analgesic (pain-killing) properties, which are mediated, in part, through activation of kappa-opioid receptors, which help block pain signal transmission. This is why they may "numb" your belly pain after a heavy meal that may have flared symptoms. Wonder herb or what?! 🙌
Note that while the minty treat can help some digestive conditions, like indigestion and gas, it may hurt others, such as heartburn due to gastroesophogeal reflux disease (GERD). In this instance, you can simply sub with some acai powder or even some mashed nana. There are always options my friends! 😘

What's the story of your life? Had such a precious moment with the amazing @remysansfamine. For eight years he was blind on both eyes. Look at his amazing insta stories, the pictures are all So bright and colourful. I'm deeply touched. Now, after several operations he can thankfully see something. Thank you Rémy for meeting you. The dish was delish: rucola, spinach, perfect sweet fresh figs and lemony cashew crème fraiche.
