Zero waste food 🌿
Yesterday, my family and I was to my youngest little sister graduation with music and food 🤓
Sorry was nothing of the food vegan, but lucky for me was as I could bring my own delicious food😍
I remember my own glass too 😎
My father say it was wired but funny I bring my own glass but was so jelly about my food 🌿🌞
I make so much food as I have food today too😍
CHOOSE TO REUSE ♻️ this cute little cutlery set (along with a metal straw I have added myself) is something I always pop in my bag so I'm not ever caught out! And no you don't need something fancy like this...just bring some metal cutlery from home and refuse the use of the plastic stuff! We use these for just a few minutes but they are designed to last FOREVER! In fact every piece of plastic that has ever been made still exists today 😱😩 They break up, not down (and yep that includes the "biodegradable" stuff) and most of it whether in the original form we got it in or broken down into microplastics ends up in our oceans 😭 I've said it before, but I'll say it again...it is predicted that by 2050 there will be more plastic in the ocean that 🐠🐟 Speaking of reusing how cool are these shrooms!? 🍄😜 They were grown from coffee ground waste....amazing!!!! Taste SO GOOD too 🤤🤤🤤 defs check out @lifecykel and get onboard the ♻️🍄 express 🚂 🙌🙌🙌
Day 23 of the @mcs_uk #plasticchallenge .
The bee's knees 🐝 Beeswax can be handy in all kinds of #plasticfree projects. We use it mainly for making beeswax wraps. Some beeswax - grated or use pellets- sprinkled onto some cloth (we used an old but unused handkerchief). Place some greaseproof or parchment paper over the top and iron till melted. Get a good spread but start with less- it's easier to add more than take it off! Once cool you can use your wrap to replace cling film. Wash with cool water and #reuse .
Beeswax is also handy to firm up your homemade deodorant in hot weather.
For those that's prefer not to use beeswax then candelilla wax is a good alternative.
Have you found a good use for it? #plasticpollution#wastefree#reusable#beeswax#candelillawax#waxwraps#beeswaxwraps
I've been making the biggest effort to take my food scraps home with me to compost even though it usually results in me leaving containers of food in my car for like 3 days...I am the worst. But determined to make a darn habit of composting the scraps I make at work 😬
| SUPER SMOOTHIE BOWL | Packed with nutrients and a great way to start the day especially when the sun is out. This bowl is high in #antioxidants and contains #probiotics too! I recommend using all organic ingredients. To make simply blend until smooth; 1/2 medium beetroot chopped into small squares, 1-2 cups spinach, 2 frozen bananas, Approx 50ml @greenstkitchen coconut milk kefir, 1 tbsp chia seeds, 1 tsp bee pollen, 1 tsp maqui powder, 2-4 drops orange oil, 1/4 cup frozen blueberries. Top with whatever you like. I like to use quinoa puffs, @paleopure berries and cinnamon paleo muesli, toasted coconut, fresh fruit or whatever I have in the pantry. Everything except the fresh fruit & veg available @scoopwholefoods 🌿
One century ago, our planet was home to more than 230,000 orangutans. Now, the Bornean orangutan population sits at only 104,700 and the critically endangered Sumatran orangutan at only 7,500. These beautiful animals need us to consider them in the decisions we make - what we buy, what's in it, how it's used, and where it ends up. By using sustainably sourced, corn based PLA instead of plastic, you're contributing to a more secure future for all Earth's creatures. 🌏 🌽

What happens with our plastic when we throw it away? Well, "there is no away. Because plastic is so permanent, and so indestructible, that when you cast it into the ocean, or indeed a dustbin, it does not go away".

We know the impacts of plastic pollution in the ocean but this seems to be ignored by many who could make a difference.
There is no escaping the fact that we cannot continue to flood the ocean with plastic waste and not expect serious consequences.
Sea birds are the sentinels of the ocean, they cover tens of thousands of kms every year and are indicators of ocean health. In Australia researchers have reported that 90% of Flesh footed Shearwaters are ingesting plastic!
Many balloon clips used to seal the ballon are found in seabirds stomachs.
Turtles are found on our coastlines killed by plastic ingestion.
We can all make a difference and if that difference means giving up straws or balloons and choosing to refusingle use plastic is that really so hard!?
Get behind this bill and lets stop the flow of plastic into the ocean. Send a message to show that you are supporting this proposed legislation. 👉🏾www.robinchapple.com/banplasticswa👈🏾
Regram: It's Plastic Free July!!! Whether you're travelling or your chilling at home there are SO many ways you can reduce your plastic use.
1. Never leave the house without your trusty reusable bag. I have a cute as foldable one I always keep in my bag, whether I'm on the road or in my home city. You never know when you might need it!
2. You have two hands and they were made for carrying! If you don't have a reusable bag, you can still refuse a plastic one! If you want some inspiration, @lucyspeaches made an excellent video about this point on her Facebook page.
3. Plastic cutlery, coffee cups and take away containers? Can you dine in instead? Otherwise my bamboo cutlery set is also a permanent fixture in my travel day bag.
4. How about a metal/glass/bamboo/anything other than plastic straw? Even if you're dining in, those juices or smoothies generally always come with a plastic straw!
5. Always carry a reusable bottle with you! It's far cheaper and environmentally friendly to fill it up from the tap- and let's be honest bottled water isn't all it's cracked up to be anyway. When I'm travelling I always use my @steripen_uvpurifiers if I'm not 100% sure about the water, and no, I haven't had any issues so far.
There are loads of other ways you can reduce your plastic consumption but it's getting a little large for an Instagram post so maybe I should just write a blog post about it instead .
Thanks for the photo @plasticfreejuly and keep up the good work!
I made wipes yesterday using kitchen roll, boiled water, tablespoon of coconut oil and a few drops of tea tree oil. I enjoyed making them and they smell delicious. I don't have a final verdict yet. They are certainly cheaper and handy to have. I'm not sure they'll be my primary solution though as they are a bit smeary and not particularly zero waste! Still, I'm happy with the option until I gather up enough cloth scraps and might get myself some Cheeky Wipes too!
We filled a whole bag full of rubbish today at the beach. It didn't take us long to see bits of rubbish around rocks, tangled in seaweed, and up on the sand dunes. Plastic Free July is just around the corner and I am going to be sharing ideas that you can do during the month with the hashtag #plasticfreejulynz 🌿 feel free to join in!
Best purchase this week :) Taking small steps at a time but hopefully get to a point where i can live completely plastic free!
To all my friends and family do yourselves a favour and educate yourself on how fast we are killing this planet, if you have netflix watch a plastic ocean, its absolutely heartbreaking and we need to step up and be the change! Say no to single use plastic #beeecowraps#sustainable#sunshinecoast#plasticfree

Gah! 😁 I get so excited when people put my food purchases in my own container. In this case my own bread bag. So here we have a cinnamon fruit loaf from #bakersdelight . After my rejection last time, it took me some courage to go back there again. Whilst the first lady who served me just looked at me with a weird stare and stood there not knowing what to do. Another lady who walked past said with no hesitation. "Yep! No problem, what were you after?" Persistence is the key. The more you do it, the more they get used to do. Best of all, #noplastic ! Also FYI, there is no law or legislation in NSW that prevents shops from serving food in your own container, unless they have a company policy which disallows them.
Delicious pancakes pic and irreverent caption time 😜🥞🌱👉🏽 Have you ever tried shakti flow yoga ? One of the other volunteers here invited me to take a class with her tonight and I couldn't be more gracious that she did ! The class was so powerful - shakti doesn't necessarily refer to a specific type of yoga; rather, it's a reference to feminine divine energy. There was so much fluid movement, so much freedom, so much love. I've never felt so powerful and connected with myself. 💫 the teacher ended our practice by reminding us that we must always find an oasis in something that makes us truly happy, no matter what it seems like "we must do" because of societal norms - finding your personal source of happy is just as important, if not more. 💞
Afterwards, we decided to walk back to our camp - and mind you this is around 7:30, when the sun was setting! About halfway through our 2 mile walk, it began to POUR 🌨 so there we were, laughing with flashlights in our hands, dripping with so much sweat post yoga, now drenched in cold water and walking through unfamiliar land. We talked about fear and trust and adventure the whole way back - it was scary and freeing all at once. I'm so so thankful for today and for the connections I've made here. Life is so incredibly beautiful when you just LIVE. 🌎🍃
Cauliflower Pizza 🍕
I think we can just say that cooking this without baking paper was extremely very difficult, I think I might need to invest in some kind of reusable baking mat?! Still tho 😋😋😋😋 Pretty happy to get some tummy friendly pizza in ma belly this Friday evening 😀
It´s #friyay for my skin 💖🌿☀️ Since I changed over to live plastic free I began using body oils instead of body cream because I hardly found lotion that was not packed in plastic. Depending on the season and what kind of care my skin requires, I mix several oils and what shall I say … I´ve never had such smooth and healthy skin before … and I love the oil´s cent 😍
Here I mixed organic Jojoba Oil, Apricot Kernel Oil, Macadamia Nut Oil, Wheat Germ Oil (all by @primavera_life ) and Wild Rose Oil (by @weleda_ag ) and for summertime I add St. John´s Wort Oil and a few drops of Neroli (by @primavera_life).
What are your favorite body oils or skin care products? I'd be delighted if you leave your tips in the comments 💓🌿😍
