We'd certainly welcome a bowl of this: it’s Millet and Oats with 3-Berry Compote, Banana, and Seeds, a healthy yet sweet bowl take on porridge. Millet is largely grown in Asia and Africa, it’s rich in protein and vitamins, and it’s gluten free, but most importantly - it’s delicious!

I knew this day was coming.... But today it's the first real autumn day in Tel Aviv. Yes, I am spoiled with amazing weather usually and I actually forgot how it is to wake up hearing the rain falling and seeing a grey (depressing) sky. It hasn't been like this since February! 18.C ? 64.F = COLD here. Yes, OK, reality check, face it, autumn also started here 🍃🍂🍁.
Usually I prefer cold smoothiebowls, yoghurts... However today with the change of the weather, I definitely needed something warm. I choose to combine porridge with apple and cinnamon since this combo makes me think about warm oven baked apple pie, the healthier version 😎😋 .
Did you know that CINNAMON is Super Healthy?
First of all, it's good to know cinnamon is packed with a variety of protective ANTIOXIDANTS, that reduce free radical damage and slow the aging process 😎. It also helps lower blood sugar levels. With that, one tablespoon of ground cinnamon contains only 19 calories, 0% fat , 4gr fiber. It also includes vitamin K, manganese, calcium & iron.
Besides that the antioxidants in cinnamon have anti inflammatory effects and it is even beneficial to for pain management usage (example: relieve score muscles, PMS pain ). It has anti-fungal properties, it can help Candida.
So many benefits it is definitely not a bad idea to add a spoon of this powder to your breakfast bowl!

As winter begins to bite we're taking a look at porridge. The word ‘porridge’ is of British heritage and was used for the first time in a cookbook in the 16th century. Britain though was by no means the only country to have a dish like porridge – almost every country in the world eats it in some form. This is a Spanish twist on the breakfast staple - an Oat, Rye, and Spelt Spanish Breakfast Porridge from Nik Williamson’s The Grain Bowl. This energising 3-grain breakfast includes chorizo and a poached egg and takes around 25 minutes to prepare, the perfect winter warmer for a lazy day.
🌞 OMEGA 3 BREAKY 🌞 Here’s some useful and simple nutritional information I’ve recently learnt....🧠
FLAXSEED is packed full of the essential fatty acid OMEGA 3 💚 Apparently majority of people in the UK aren’t getting enough omega 3 in their diet, putting them at greater risk of heart disease 💚 OMEGA 3 can not be produced by the body and therefore must be consumed in the foods we eat 🐟 Great sources of Omega 3 are oily fish like salmon, trout and mackerel, avocado, nuts like the walnuts on my breakfast, some vegetable oils and flaxseeds, like the packet in my picture 🙌🏻
One tablespoon of milled flaxseed can hold your RDA of Omega 3, it’s easy to add to porridge or yoghurt or smoothies and is pretty tasteless 🙌🏻 This bag also has Vitamin D and bio cultures to help with gut health and the normal absorption of calcium for my bones and teeth 😁 I keep my flaxseed sealed and refrigerated as this helps to keep the benefits active for longer, protecting it from oxidation 💚

Today I'm having my favorite breakfast teff porridge. Here in NYC it's pretty chilly🍃 so this bowl brings the warmth that I'm craving. I love the flavor and texture of #teffporridge ! It's definitely a step above oatmeal in terms of taste and nutrients. I simmered my #teff in hemp milk and ginger tea. Then I topped my bowl with red bananas🍌, candied walnuts, and a sweet tahini drizzle.🙌 So delicious 😋.
#Teff is a pseudo grain from Ethiopia (its actually a seed like quinoa). And it's naturally gluten free!👌
Teff is a really great source of iron, protein, magnesium and calcium. Its rich in fiber and high in resistant starch which is good for managing your blood sugar and #WeightLoss 🙌
My first time using @goodhempfood GOOD HEMP unsweetened milk (was £1 for a litre in Tesco a coupla weeks ago) I took a sip out the cartoon and it tastes like grass 😬🌱 however added it to the oats in a pan an within minutes was thick and creamy bubbling away... with porridge it's a delish consistency and such a small hint of flavour it works perfectly! (Plus it means all toppings will work well 😜) seriously note tho how do people perfectly line up a banana 🙄🍌 mine go all over the place?! -
