Low bar PR for weight and reps! 455 for 2 on my last week of 5-3-1 for legs. Felt very easy and probably could have done at least 1 maybe 2 more. Back in March, I had a crazy idea to shed some weight and hopefully get girls to talk to me. Joking aside, this challenge was something that I wanted to do in order to teach myself a new level of discipline. Honestly, I fell off my plan multiple times, but it was always the support of those around me that helped me keep moving forward. For that, I truly love you guys (ya’ll know who you are). I also want to give a special thanks to my coach @serropark for keeping me accountable when I felt like giving up. With that being said, failure is never a reality until you stop trying.

Why pin squats are better than speed squats for practicing explosive force.

Exercise Physiology: strength adaptations are highly specific. In order for you to blast past sticking points, you must train them optimally to its weakness.

Optimal in this context: a quick change in velocity to maximize force output at a specific joint angle that is at the most mechanical disadvantage.

Biomechanically the weakest position of the squat is at parallel, or when the femur is horizontal to the ground when torque loading at the knee and hip is at its highest.

Physics: Force = mass X acceleration. This doesn't mean force is highest at max speed. Force output is inverse with velocity. Faster contractions actually produce lower forces (why you shouldn't do speed reps). In f=ma, acceleration is not synonymous with speed, but represents the rate of change that the barbell undergoes. When a rested bar on a pin squat goes from 0 to >0 there high acceleration and high force production.

Combine the principles from physiology, biomechanics, and physics... You get the pin squat as an optimal variation to work on "out of the hole" sticking point.

Its disturbing to hear them refer to this magnificent plant as a drug or narcotic. With all the science that proves the benefits of cannabis paired with the sheer fact that its a plant, that we would be beyond this fear instilled in our society long ago. Let us band together and keep fighting for our rights as Cannabadians, ( cannabis smoking Canadians). P.S. Slow and controlled 555lb/251.7kg single. Contrary to what it looks like, this is RPE 8.5 for me. Honestly, my decent was a little too slow on this one because this should have moved at RPE 8. I think I lost a little rebound because of the slow eccentric portion of this movement. 4x4x475 @ 7 after this. A little over two weeks out and I'm feeling it. ..

Summer Shred update: Rear delts are cutting in nicely. Starting to see nice separation, striations in the shoulders, brachioradioalis is cutting in etc. I've lost a bit of size but not much and strength has stayed the same.
