Sometimes that quiet time just after #yoga#class when the #students have gone is the #sweetest . The #silence is #golden , the #energy from the practice is still in the air floating around putting a smile on my face🙂. Knowing that they have #connected to their #deeper selves, their bodies stretched and twisted, their #breath elongated and awareness increased. This is my practice, being open to allowing their practice to unfold before me. So grateful for the privilege 🙏💜
Beautiful success for the Introduction to Kundalini Workshop in Geelong at @yogadojo today. A room full of open hearts and open minds. Thankyou for sharing the practice with me. We'll start regular classes this Wednesday at 7:30pm.
Breath is not just the exchange of oxygen and carbon dioxide. For different levels of thought and emotion that you go through, your breath takes on different types of patterns. If you deeply observe it, when you are angry, calm, creative, intoxicated, joyous or dull, your breathe goes through subtle changes. Whichever way you breathe, that is the way you think. Whichever way you think, that is the way you breathe. It's very subtle so your attention level needs to be high and you should be aware to watch this shift at different moments.
#Pranayam is the science where, by consciously breathing in a particular way, the very way you think, feel, understand and experience this life can be changed.
If you travel through the breath, deep into yourself, to the deepest core of the breath, it will take you to that point where you are actually tied to the body. To arrive here is the goal of every #yogi .
Alone instead of lonely.
It's only now I'm beginning to realise how a sense of loneliness has permeated my actions for decades. I have always been independent, and yet, I always had a partner in crime - be they a best friend or lover. And I, for sure, could not sit alone in public without making it super clear that I was waiting for someone else.
And I was waiting for someone else on so many levels. So I wouldn't have to be lonely, face doing it alone, be accountable to just myself, be in sole command.
I hid fear under the guise of having such a big heart that I always just connected with people.
Only now do I realise how much I've been hiding. Hiding self abandonment as a lover. Even writing this makes me draw breath. Hard. Deep.
And with a big deep slow exhale, I know I'll be okay. It's all okay. Emotions are emotions and not me. Loneliness isn't reality. We are always connected, invisibly, intangibly, irrefutably. And it's up to us to sense into the difference between the emotions that course though us and the feelings that hold our truths.
It's for this awareness, this fine tuning, this nuanced understanding that I return to my mat always. It's for the feeling of the frequencies that I maintain my practice. And for the undeniable fact that it makes me a better friend to myself, better presence to be around, and a more faithful ally to my heart.
This meditation helps release painful memories of your childhood from day 1 to 11th year and allows you to shift towards a new, auspicious direction. Experience a wonderful sense of rebirth filled with peace and joy for a New You!
Ustrasana - Camel Pose - Continuing with backbends. Camel can be a very deep back bend depending on what level you take it. Just like wheel, you can see a full extension of the front of the body as the hips push forward, the chest raises up and the head drops back. Camel pose is usually saved for the latter portion of classes because of how strong of a back bend it is. It's helpful to warm the body up to keep us safe and get our deepest possible expression of the pose. This pose works the whole spine where our chakra points are located. #ustrasana#roslyn#longislandyoga#backbend#camelpose
When we are not doing anything the energy moves towards the center, it settles down towards the center. When we are doing something the energy moves out. Doing is a way of moving out. Non-doing is a way of moving in to our being. All occupations are an escape and they help us to cling outside our being. They are excuses to remain outside.
Sometimes coming inwards looks like entering a chaos. And it is so; inside we have created a chaos. We have to encounter it and go through it. Courage is needed – courage to be oneself, and courage to move inwards, the courage to be mindful and meditative.
