my offering for today is garuda mudrā
accompanied by sitali breath • pranayam

it has come to my attention that there has been some confusion around the breathing technique offered to compliment this mudrā. 
i shared a SIGNIFICANTLY sped up video in which it may appear that my tongue is moving in and out. but in fact, i am gently closing my lips over the tongue to illustrate that a moment occurs between inhaling (through the mouth—there is a gentle retention at the top) and the exhale leaving through the nostrils..this breath is slow. a true sense of allowing happens here. i sure hope this helps! please feel free to ask any questions you may have! i am beyond happy to clarify further. this is a very special breath to me and am honored to be sharing it with you🌿.

with a focus on clarity, balance + flow, 
find yourself seated comfortably..taking a few calm breaths to come into your space. establishing a connection between thumbs (it is my understanding, right hand traditionally leads), spread through the fingers..like the wings of an eagle. this mudrā may be held at the heart for the duration or as displayed here, a gradual ascension from lower abdomen to over head then back to heart..pausing at each point along the way, we take 10-12 breaths at each position. inhaling through a curled tongue (pause—)and exhale through the nostrils for a cooling, calming effect. a true blessing for our darling bodies. injoy! and feel free to ask questions

Next, as you inhale reach arms down, out & up till your lungs are full. Bring your hands together and down as you exhale.

After a few breaths in this pattern, switch directions to open up evenly through your shoulders.

Take any last stretches. You can roll gently through your neck, stretch hands up, fold over legs, whatever you'd like!

TRUE HAPPINESS
Förmodligen känner ni igen känslan av hur glad man blir ända in i hjärtat när man ser hur lycklig en av ens nära vänner är. Det här fotot ger mig den känslan.  Långt ifrån en perfekt bild, suddig och saknar fokus men jag ser bara min genuint glada vän och två andra världsbra yogalärare som gjorde min kväll igår till något alldeles extra. @yogimelinda arrangerade igår en 2,5 h lång klass i hennes egna fina yoga shala med hennes teacher @sarayogigranstrom och Guy som gästlärare. De kombinerade chanting, asanas och pranayama på ett helt underbart sätt. 
Många runt om kring mig,  inte bara Melinda, har pratat så varmt om Saras klasser och jag förstår varför. Så fin klass, helt underbart samspel mellan Guy och Sara och tonerna från deras harmonikum. 
Effekterna sitter kvar även idag av klassen. Eftersom jag vet ur mycket Sara har lärt och betyder för Melinda känns det ännu roligare att få ha delat den här upplevelsen med henne i hennes egna yogastudio 🙏. Så om du någon gång får tillfälle att gå på en klass med Sara och Guy. Tveka inte. Bara gör det. Och få möjlighet att känna hur det verkligen känns att fylla hela kroppen med ditt andetag.

Today I'm wishing I had a nice sunny spot to stretch out in 🌞 It's been rainy all day here but I fought against my urge to be lazy and actually got some stuff done. Now all that's left for this Sunday is to relax. Child's pose is one of my absolute favorite easy stretches for my back & sides & shoulders. I also love how aware of breath this posture makes me. Feeling my lungs expand against legs, hearing the sound of breath moving in and out of my body, and just noticing the ground beneath me helps me to bring myself into the present moment.
