Who started these cultural norms that an American breakfast has to be refined and nutrient depleted? From refined toast, bagels, sugar-filled GMO cereals, pastries, “breakfast bars,” sugary oatmeal, and ultra pasteurized, homogenized low fat dairy, we are used to starting our day off with crap, essentially. We should be starting our day off with nutrients to fuel our brains for school and work and to keep us full until lunch without needing sugary snacks or caffeinated beverages to keep us going. Protein and fat are best for this long-sustained energy. I have an organic @applegate chicken hot dog cooked in olive oil for protein + fat (and a tad more protein in my yogurt). My @co_yo_usa yogurt is FULL of fat- GOOD FAT (not trans), fiber and even some iron! I added fresh organic cherries and organic @driscollsberry raspberries and I’m sipping on an organic green @bigelowtea.
There is NOTHING wrong with dinner leftovers for lunch or dinner. When I first ditched my original GI doc’s recommendation that “food doesn’t matter in IBD” and listened to my now doc about what real food is, I ate bison burgers with mustard for breakfast for months! I was satiated, my belly was happy, and I consumed one of the most nutrient dense, healthy foods for humans- red meat. I gained weight healthfully and steadily from reintroducing REAL FOOD 🙏🏼

Tonight’s dinner was this delicious pork tenderloin which was actually from @aldiusa and totally #Whole30 compliant. Crispy asparagus seasoned with just a sprinkle of Himalayan pink sea salt is my favorite side dish 😋
Day 11 is in the books and it feels great. For a lot of people I think overeating and a crazy sugar addiction is what draws them to the Whole30 but prior to this round I found drinking was the big thing dragging me down. The NSV’s are apparent even on day 11 which totally freaking amazes me.
Had a sweet tooth tonight, so I tossed some sliced banana in coconut flour and cinnamon and sauteed it in some coconut oil. Drizzed it with honey with some almond butter on the side. Super satisfying! #QuestFor199
Bang Bang Chicken Pasta! I'm going to post two recipes below! One will be paleo, and one will be low carb!
PALEO BANG BANG CHICKEN:
-2 cups primal mayo (or regular mayo for low carb) -2 cups unflavored almond milk (heavy cream for low carb) -Siracha -2 tbs raw honey (eliminate for low carb) -Chicken breast -Spaghetti squash -2 tablespoons Kerrygold
Directions: -Bake spaghetti squash -Pan sear chicken on stove in Kerrygold -Pour all other ingredients in a pot on low/medium heat and mix until fluid

After three (well halfway through round 3!) rounds of whole30, this is one of my favorite tips:
If you don’t feel like cooking, eat leftovers for breakfast. You already prepared a perfectly compliant meal like this flank steak and bell peppers from two nights ago.
I made extra on purpose and now I’m enjoying it for breakfast with almost no prep time.
Particularly helpful during this week because my babies got sick and we are way behind on sleep!
Little introspection this morning: I really feel like my January this year hasn’t been the normal ‘back to normal’ month it usually is, in more than one ways. It has been good to get back to routines here in London, but at the same time I have this inexplicable wanderlust and restlessness I can’t seem to shake. I will try to keep a close eye on my moods, mind, and eating, trying to find ways to relax while still keeping on top of things, meditate more, and nourish my body (and my brain) optimally. So that not all the good work Christmas holidays did to me will be undone in a dash! Well damn. I was worried if I figured out mathematically what I was doing with my macros I would learn I was failing. But turns out my intuition and my vague calculation skills aren't so bad. I knew I was keeping low carb intake (for me based off my previous high carb existence) but I has no idea I was naturally keeping it THIS low. It's just amazing to me how I don't miss anything. I DON'T miss sugar. I DON'T miss gluten free baked goods. I hated the way it felt to be in my body every day. I tried to find gratitude where I could. Because who wants to be bitter? That's just stressful anyway. I keep thinking it's the gift of desperation. I'm definitely greatful for that. Quick dinner salad for 1!🥗💚 I wasn’t super hungry but knew If I didn’t eat I’d be starving later! Spring mix, walnuts, carrots, raisins, green olives, hard boiled eggs, and the best apples. I dress my salads with black pepper, olive oil and red wine vinegar. Yum😋😋

I will legitimize all of this as I tell #riseofkurt but some years ago I made a promise to the universe. If I ever got my health back, I would use the knowledge I learned along the way to give back my wish to the world. Though I don't always feel the best, and still sometimes my discipline fails me, still sometimes I say "fuck it"and self sabotagedly devour junk food, but now is not that time. I had my colon removed due to severe ulcerative colitis and a mismanagement of my condition by the awful medical industry. Later, I would develop a terrible neurological condition that was far worse than anything colitis had brought to me. However, through an almost unimaginable amount of suffering, sifting through the internet, podcasts, and guinea pigging myself, against all odds, with natural methods, I cured it, and have many thoughts about how to cure many ailments. This is part of the protocol I have developed. A mostly fish, eggs, organ meat, and plant based modified ketogenic diet. The fats allow me to fast and only eat two small meals a day, much easier on my jpouch since they are much denser. Being in ketosis keeps my inflammation profoundly down, to a point where I don't notice my arthritis related to the disease. Fermented vegetables daily to keep my micro-biome strong. Organ meat every other day to keep b12 high, a common deficiency in colitis patients. I eat good quality eggs daily, and cycle organ meat and sardines for basically all my vitamin deficiencies. I cook with lots of garlic, turmeric, and ginger, also for inflammation. This protocol along with many other lifestyle changes such as mindful meditation, martial arts, and a new found taste for life have made me feel better than I've felt my entire life. Now that I've got enough of my health back to be happy, it's time to return the favor to the universe. I have been very busy and nothing drives a man to learn like his own mortality.
