Our healthcare system as a whole is focused on REACTIVE care. Such as, “Oh, man. I think I’m catching a cold. My throat hurts, my body aches, my glands are swollen.” Fast forward a day or two and BAM! Full-blown sickness 🤒. In my years of learning to be PROACTIVE in my healthcare, I’ve learned to be so much more in tune with my body and able to focus on what I need to support myself BEFORE it goes down the 🚽. Hence, informed self care. When you’re around a bunch of people (sick or not because they could be spreading germs before they have symptoms!), it’s best to SUPPORT your body. As much as I’d love to say my body functions well on its own, it does not. The powerhouse that allows Monday mornings to happen, even when the scratchy throat starts. I don't know about you, but having OnGuard on hand really gives me this sense of knowing that when I start to feel yucky at times, I have this little oil army behind me that will get me feeling better in no time.
I've been fighting something the past two days, no real symptoms other than a bit of a scratchy throat and some congestion.
1) Get that OnGuard Diffusing in open areas to keep everyone else from getting whatever is brewing
2) Apply OnGuard (diluted) topically to my neck and throat to ease the soreness - this is super effective and works very quickly.
3) Put 2-3 drops of OnGuard in a veggie cap and take internally 2x a day.
4) Apply OnGuard topically to the girls 1x a day, and add a drop into their diffusers at night.
Typically this is enough to ward off whatever is happening. If my symptoms continue, or get worse, I then. move on to the Flu Bomb (2x Lemon, Frank, OnGuard, Tea Tree + OnGuard in a veggie cap)

Just got off the phone with a client, and I’m feeling over the damn moon 🌚 I’ve been working with her in The Healthstyle Emporium for just under a month, and she reported she has not had a single migraine (something she has struggled with her whole life), her energy has gone through the roof (she sounded like she was going to burst through the phone), and (surprisingly) her overactive bladder disorder has started to disappear (something she was going to have to potentially start taking medication for, and now happily reported she doesn’t think she will need anymore). It's no secret the flu is going around. Thankful for my health and that I feel so great though! So yesterday I had to get on a plane, and tomorrow I'm on another one. And I'm pretty sure everyone I know is sick right now with cedar fever and flu running amuck, so this girl isn't taking any chances. Loss of mitochondrial function is the hallmark of accelerated aging and age-associated disease. Many researchers have found interesting links between mitochondrial functionality and NAD levels. The mitochondria needs NAD to carry out its functions, if we have compound genetic mutations that not only affect NAD but also mitochondrial efficiency we are looking at a perfect storm for accelerated aging. Being proactive during this cold/flu season can mean a couple things. 1). You may avoid getting sick at all. 2). If you do get sick, symptoms may not be as severe.
What are we doing to prevent cold/flu in addition to the things we all have been conditioned to do--like hand washing?
1). Diffuse OnGuard essential oil daily.
2). Apply a mixture of OnGuard essential oil and coconut oil topically 2-3 times daily.
3). Take OnGuard soft-gels daily.
What do we do if we feel symptoms coming on?
1). Increase aromatic exposure to certain essential oils.
2). Increase topical application of essential oils--such as Peppermint for fever, Digestzen for upset stomach, Breathe for sinus congestion.
3). Adults--consider the recommended "Flu Bomb" capsules or create a roller bottle for easy + safe application for adults & children.

Shake and spray at every diaper change! Cleaning your diffusers. It’s such an important step in taking care of your health with essential oils, albeit not the most fun one. ⚪️
I clean our diffusers every 3-4 days. Every time the water runs out of my son’s which is usually after 3 or 4-4 hour cycles that’s my cue to round ‘em all up and clean up so they’re not spewing mold and mildew and grossness into the air when I’m trying to keep everyone healthy!
I run our tap water as hot as possible and poor about 1 inch of white vinegar at the bottom of every diffuser base and top off with hot water and let it sit for about 5 minutes. ⚪️
Then I dip a microfiber towel in the vinegar/water solution and wipe down the inside and outside of the tops and then the bases. ⚪️
After washing I always run a cycle of lemon through every diffuser for its purifying properties for the diffuser itself and their respective rooms. ⚪️
Once the lemon has run through, then I’m ready to fill em up with their individual goodies. Tomorrow is back to school after the Christmas Break here in Canada - with that in mind I thought I'd share some of the proactive steps I take to help my kiddos (and as a result me 😉) stay healthy. These small proactive steps can have a HUGE impact!
Tips: apply on guard (I like to add a couple drops of arborvitae) in a carrier oil to the spine or feet before and after school for optimum immune support. You can taper off to once a day as the weather gets better if you like.
Use a good probiotic as your immune system is heavily impacted by your gut flora. Healthy guts = healthy bodies :) I love the PB Assist Jnr because it works amazing for keeping little bodies humming as they should and it tastes delish - aka no whining, crying or refusing to take it. Not pictured we also use a good quality multi vitamin and vitamin D cause well, we live in Canada and with minus 20+ degrees we don't get much sun these days!! Spray heads, hats and backpacks to prevent against any unwanted creepy crawlers 😬 I use distilled water, a little FCO, a little witch hazel, tea tree and clove EOs. Just shake and spray, spray, spray.
Keep those hands clean! We know when we aren't there that hand cleaning most likely isn't as thorough as we'd like. This On Guard hand sanitizer is the perfect solution - a quick spritz and rub and they are good to go.
And last but not least, don't forget about the emotions!!! With two weeks out of routines and headed back to school - especially the littles - they may be a bit scared or nervous. Apply their choice of emotional oils on the spine and back of the neck/behind the ears. Good ones might be Vetiver, Balance, Cheer, Wild Orange, Frankincense- if you ask them you will find ones they are drawn to.
