This is one of the pictures that I took when I used somebody else’s digital camera instead of my phone for pictures, and I have to say that I’m liking it! The photos are a lot easier to edit, and I like how they turn out better as well.
I am currently on the 6th book in the Kinsey Millhone series (my favorite is number 5 so far) and I’m really liking them! They are short, quick, and easy, yet really interesting. I’m excited to see where it goes!
Finally got this little project done, thanks to the kids' delayed school opening & a bit of snow! This has literally been on the to-do list for over a year!!! And only took 45 minutes... #procrastination Swipe to see the "before".

There are some places in nature that help me put life into perspective. The mountains are one of them and hiking deep into the woods to look up through the tall pines is another.
In life we are always trying to reach something. A goal, a milestone, a destination, a year, a finish line, an ideal “something” (weight, shape, salary etc...)...a place within that is different than where we are now. My last month has been focused on the end games of the year ahead. Reaching far into the future to create movement and progress around the places I want to go, the things I want to achieve and the person I want to be more of.
It can get overwhelming—especially for an overachiever who sets the bar further than I can manage to reach without a step stool and a few good cries. Then I realize that these strong trees are also reaching upward toward something bright and shiny that helps them to grow too. I am comforted to know that it is natural to want to grow taller and reach farther and that it is a process that takes time and a willingness to bend in new directions. I’m also reminded that trees not only reach upward toward the sun, but they dig deep down and hold firm with their roots so that they can keep standing tall against a strong wind or turbulent storm.
Last summer, I dug up three ridiculously large root systems that began as small decorative bushes along my front walkway and it ended up being my workout for the week. Roots don’t f#%k around. As I continue reach forward I know I must also to dig inward and remember to water the many root systems that support me as I reach for growth. Self care, self compassion and gratitude are on the top of the list this week.
