With finals week absolutely kicking my butt, I’ve missed the gym the last two days and my eating habits have not been the best. When I first slacked off Sunday afternoon, my mindset immediately fell to “well i’ll just pick it back up after finals,” but I have felt tired and discouraged, and it’s only been 2 days. It’s crazy how good you can feel when you take care of your body, and it’s even crazier how poorly you feel when you push your self care aside. That being said, i’m going to put my studies first and do my best to take care of myself along the way. I thought it would be important to remind myself of how far i’ve come, regardless of a hard past couple of day. We’re only human, and we need to listen to our bodies and put ourselves first. Ok let's talk about getting back in a healthy routine when you're feeling a little (or a lot) off track. It happens to all of us... even those of us who post smoothies and kale salads all the time. 😉

Once you're out of the swing of things, it's so tempting to stay there. Continuing to order takeout from your favorite pizza spot and skipping the workout is a whole lot easier than cooking a healthy dinner and dragging yourself to a spin class. Let me tell you, this was totally me over the past couple weeks. Getting back in my healthy routine was so daunting, and I realized it wasn't going to happen if I tried to do it all at once. So I set one goal a day... and now I'm starting to build on those, and I bet you in a few days, I'll actually crave those smoothies and workouts again like I used to.

Anyway the point of this lengthy post is to say it's ok to fall off track, to indulge in comfort food (there's a reason we call it that), and to take some time to get back in action. Give your body what it needs, and when you're ready, take little steps each day that make you feel good. I started small with a walk one day, then a homemade dinner instead of takeout, then a chocolatey smoothie (both comfort & healthiness in one), and today I ordered this kale salad with salmon for lunch (instead of a 🍔+🍟) while relaxing on a staycation with my favorite person. Little by little, it feels really good to come back to treating my body well! 💛

One of my biggest struggles… my constant attempt to please everyone else. 
The thought of someone disliking me used to send me into straight up panic, and I was constantly changing myself to make everyone else happy. ➡️ NEWSFLASH ⬅️ No matter what you do you CANNOT control other people’s opinions of you. You are not everyone’s cup of tea. 
The world is filled with people who, no matter what you do, no matter what you try, will simply not like you. But the world is also filled with those who will love you fiercely. The ones who love you: they are your people.

As soon as I stopped wasting my time trying to CONVINCE people to like me, I was able to spend all of time appreciating, loving, and enjoying the ones who do. Never ever feel like you need to PLEASE everyone. Make yourself happy. Make yourself proud. Let the rest go. 💕

Cook once & eat more than twice! Meal prepping saves me so much time, and helps me make healthier decisions that support my body. I’ve got my anti-inflammatory green soup, homemade garlicky hummus with veggie slices for snacks, roasted sweet potato with lime and salt, fried sweet plantains, Puerto Rican rice and beans, some fresh salad greens & loads of satsumas because 😋! I bought all the ingredients plastic and package-free. When I first started #circularliving, it took me a while to transition to this way of being in the world - I’m not perfect today, nor will I be tomorrow. Progress is the goal for me. It’s Tuesday again which means...LEG DAY!!! I had such a good session last week, finally upped my weight and absolutely smashed the workout! 💪🏻🌟 (thank you extra carbs) 😋🙏🏻 As you can see, my protein porridge has become a staple part of my higher carb diet at the moment, I’m really enjoying being able to be a bit more flexible with my food 😋
So here’s to hoping it’ll be as good a session today!!! Literally BUZZING to get in the gym! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Personally for myself my glutes never really started developing too much until I started doing heavy weighted hip thrusts 🍑 so if you haven’t tried them yet - give them a go! See if it makes any difference for you 😍🙌🏻

For years I have had sore knees on and off and as I focus on alignment & stability I am slowly seeing steady improvement. I have avoided squats for a long time due to my knees wanting to splay  wide. So adding a double loop band gives great feedback as I work on this and strengthen the leg and glute muscles. As I get get better and create more integrity to the movement I will add more depth and intensity to this peachy gem 🍑.

This is my habit. 3.5 years ago this was NOT my habit! But ya get to a point in your life where enough is enough. You start doing things you swore you’d never do,👉 like home workouts. .
But i can’t knock em! These trainers bring it ON! They’re available to me 24/7. I just have to put on my big girl pants and push play. 💁‍♀️I wouldn’t be able to tell ya about it without giving major kudos to my challenge group mamas👯‍♀️👯‍♀️. They showed up and together we took on the Goal one day at a time and continue to. ❤️👏

But this is how I put my oxygen mask 😷 on first. And there are days I don’t wanna push play. But i refuse to go back to my old ways of coping with stress and the overwhelm that is life + parenting! I’m thankful for this change. Thankful I have come THIS far! I’m a lazy fart during the holidays. But that’s what real change does to a woman. Makes ya stick to what you know you need. Makes ya do what you said you’d never be able to do. Helps to have people who have your back. 👊❤️

Adaptation is key to life and everything you do. If there’s an exercise you can’t accomplish don’t stress just find a way, adapt, there’s more than one way to train for your goals. The dragon flag, on my own it puts a major strain on me because i i lack the strength so a resistance band allows me to adapt and build the necessary strength. Same thing applies to the finger tip exercises, i use the resistance bands as a way to adapt. Finishing off my first day of work with this book, this is my homework for the next 13 weeks of training. A cup of boiling water with fresh mint leaves, a dark chocolate pure protein bar and a good book just makes everything relaxing. Today was successful, I managed to go to work, go to the gym, prep for tomorrow and my eating was half decent. I haven't had a "good eating" day in a while, but it's getting better. The first 2 weeks of my new job a different manager treats you to lunch each day, most people would love this... but I'm suffering quietly. I weighed in at 151.3 yesterday and I'll weigh in again on Friday to see where I stand. I haven't gained weight on the scale but I've definitely lost muscle and gained fat, I can see it in the way my clothes fit. So I must must must focus on weight training.

Worked today which was so nice to get back to. Got all my steps in. Did my exercises and restarted my #30daychallenge  #freshstart did some bedtime yoga with essential oils in the diffuser. So this is a tough photo to share! A year ago, I was 3 months post pregnancy, trying to juggle a three month old baby, my other two daughters, and dealing with the dread and resentment of having to go back to a horrible job. After a very honest discussion about quitting the job and having faith that I could find something else, I began to work on me as the primary focus in February. If I couldn’t be happy with myself and finding my happiness again, what good was I as a mom, a wife, or a friend??? This has been a long road, and one that I am still traveling.
I figure as much as I post working out, I should at least show how far I have come!

When I first slacked off Sunday afternoon, my mindset immediately fell to “well i’ll just pick it back up after finals,” but I have felt tired and discouraged, and it’s only been 2 days. It’s crazy how good you can feel when you take care of your body, and it’s even crazier how poorly you feel when you push your self care aside. That being said, i’m going to put my studies first and do my best to take care of myself along the way. I thought it would be important to remind myself of how far i’ve come, regardless of a hard past couple of day. We’re only human, and we need to listen to our bodies and put ourselves first. Ok let's talk about getting back in a healthy routine when you're feeling a little (or a lot) off track. It happens to all of us... even those of us who post smoothies and kale salads all the time. 😉

Once you're out of the swing of things, it's so tempting to stay there. Continuing to order takeout from your favorite pizza spot and skipping the workout is a whole lot easier than cooking a healthy dinner and dragging yourself to a spin class. Let me tell you, this was totally me over the past couple weeks. Getting back in my healthy routine was so daunting, and I realized it wasn't going to happen if I tried to do it all at once. So I set one goal a day... and now I'm starting to build on those, and I bet you in a few days, I'll actually crave those smoothies and workouts again like I used to.

Anyway the point of this lengthy post is to say it's ok to fall off track, to indulge in comfort food (there's a reason we call it that), and to take some time to get back in action. Give your body what it needs, and when you're ready, take little steps each day that make you feel good. I started small with a walk one day, then a homemade dinner instead of takeout, then a chocolatey smoothie (both comfort & healthiness in one), and today I ordered this kale salad with salmon for lunch (instead of a 🍔+🍟) while relaxing on a staycation with my favorite person. Little by little, it feels really good to come back to treating my body well! 💛

I’ve got my anti-inflammatory green soup, homemade garlicky hummus with veggie slices for snacks, roasted sweet potato with lime and salt, fried sweet plantains, Puerto Rican rice and beans, some fresh salad greens & loads of satsumas because 😋! I honestly feel younger with every day. These photos were taken almost 15 years apart and I feel and look better now than I did at 23.  In the first pic I was drinking excessively, eating garbage and felt insecure about myself. Sure, I still have my moments of indulgence but I have learned balance and that a workout can cure any bad day I may have😀

People close to me have noticed not only the changes physically but also emotionally. They say I am so positive, energetic, motivated and overall just a happy human

Holy hell I don't think I will be doing that workout again any time soon... 😬 lol Autumn kicked my ass with that one! lol 😂 I seriously had to modify half of that workout. A bit of #mondaymotivation ⬅️ 1 year ago on a night out with my cousin 💜 felt chuffed that I managed to fit into these size 12 trousers 👖 at the start of my #postpartumjourney and to shift all of my pre pregnancy weight 🤰🏼➡️ one year on loosing all of my pregnancy weight - plus a little bit more 👌🏼✌🏼 although I am having to remind myself on a regular basis these days at how far I’ve come. These dark evenings and cold mornings have had a huge effect on my mood 🌚☃️ as well as all the added stress of being signed off/money/work/Christmas 🎄🎅🏼
Finally things are looking up - new job for the new year! Finally il be in a school as a teaching assistant (stepping stone to were I eventually want to be 👩🏼‍🏫) Slowly getting back on track with healthy options instead of the quick naughty options.

This photo may not be that impressive to y’all but it’s just crazy to me to see any sort of definition in my core. I haven’t been perfect with my diet and workouts the last week but I’m still looking at it as a win when I think back to where I was last year, and the year before and so on.
I still feel overall amazing and despite letting up a little with my diet haven’t gained any weight or really even noticed any difference in my body. This is so important to realize. I didn’t lose weight and change my body in a few days and a few days of not so perfect eating isn’t going to ruin my progress. 💁🏻‍♀️
