Deprivation doesn’t work. I don’t know about you but when my parents told me I couldn’t have something, I would find a way to have double. Call me a rebel if you wish but I didn’t like hearing no, and boy did I hear it quite often lol. Why be on diet and deprive yourself? Instead crowd out your diet with new foods. Start by trying a new vegetable every week, or make a familiar veggie a different way. Our tastes change so something you may not have liked before may taste delicious to you now. I was lucky to have parents from the Middle East so I grew up eating home cooked Mediterranean foods. I was eating garlic bulbs as a toddler. Maybe that’s why I’m a little off lol. A good place to start is with a food journal. Take note about how you feel after eating certain foods. It’s not normal to be in pain or not feel good. If you don’t feel good the first thing that’s easy to do is change your diet!! Food is so powerful and if you just start paying attention and making small changes you may start to feel amazing by eating more whole foods. It’s not rocket science. We are what we eat. So try to eat as clean and close to the earth as you can. Be adventurous and take a trip to a international farmers market. There are so many amazing vegetables from all over the world that are quite delicious. I made this leftover macro bowl with my market finds. Recipe-baked sweet potato fries, beetroots, broccoli crowns, fennel, with some ground taco meat. I roasted a bunch of veggies on Tuesday night so I would have them for the week. Tonight I felt like eating some red meat. I typically listen to my body and if I’m craving something I’ll eat it. 🎉4.46miles!!!!!🎉I have to share. Before I was married and had kids, I used to run distances like this daily. I'm sad to say, but 10 years of not working out consistently, really took a toll on my body. It's amazing how fast my "temple" and morale breaks down without movement. It doesn't make it easier that my job is to sit and pray, sit and sing, or stand in one place and sing. Anyways, last summer, my friend @odetamv challenged me and my kids to meet her at a park every day to get all of our bodies moving again. Meeting her to exercise was the best decision I made for myself in 2017. I was pitiful 😩 I ran like a 🐌 Whined like a 👶🏼 And turned as beet red as the noon-day sun - thanks to my trans lucena light complexion😳. My kids even ran faster, did more push-ups, don't even mention sit-ups, lol. Today, I barely got out of bed. I forced myself to get out bed. I drove all the way to the gym and then almost sat outside of the smoothie shop next door eating a chocolate chip cookie. Till I heard this small voice inside of me say, "NOPE! Workout first. You'll feel better." So I finished my ketones and went to the gym. I jumped on the treadmill and thought, "I'll see how far I can go." I was amazed that after over an hour, my body still had energy and endurance to keep going! I only stopped because I had an appointment to get to. So I snapped a pic and now I am sharing with you. Let it be known that this is not an accurate representation of how I look at this moment. I remember seeing so many put together women on Instagram and getting stuck in the comparison trap that this platform can be. I remember feeling like I was doing everything right and getting no where. Eating well, working out, sleeping soundly and still exhausted, still lacking oomph.

As I wrap up my daily manifestation meditation and sit down with my glass of ketones to write out notes for a team huddle tonight, I can’t help but write out everything that I’m grateful for. I have been there and struggled with all of those and more, and if you’ve watched my journey to where I am today, then I pray I give you the hope that there is peace and a beautiful life ahead.
It’s so easy to blend with the mentality of the world and to feed into negativity and bullshit mindsets that we’ve been taught as “truth.” I could have $1 in the bank and signing divorce papers but still look into my life and find hundreds of reasons to be grateful. Take the time to look in front of you and see the abundance that is there already and release the toxic that hinders your personal growth. As soon as your mindset changes so will those relationships, finances, and whatever struggles you have weighing you down. Today was pretty warm here - for winter. I took my jacket off in the car and I noticed that none of my tummy touched the steering wheel - ( short girl problems 😬) there was actually a huge space between the wheel and my body !
