Unfortunately Jake and I won't be able to #optoutside today, since one of us has to work (🙁). So he will be at home writing his letter to Santa and we will both be day dreaming of this. Hope everyone had a Happy Thanksgiving!
I am incredibly thankful for this man and the life we are building together. This past year hasn’t been the easiest one we’ve seen, but we’ve found a reason to smile every single day and no matter the obstacle I’m lucky to be tackling it with him. Happy Thanksgiving.. I hope you have tons of reasons to smile. ❤️
#Thanksgiving can mean a lot of different things to a lot of different people, but I prefer to take it back to the basics and take the opportunity to appreciate what I am most thankful for in my life.
First and foremost I am thankful for my health, something I’ve learned that can be taken away from you at moments notice. I mean without it what do you really have?
I am thankful for having the loving friends and family in my life. No matter how lonely or on the outskirts of things I may feel at times (often self imposed), I know there are a handful of really incredible human beings in my life that I can always look to when times are rough. Not everyone is fortunate enough to have such a great support system in life.
Last but certainly not least, I am thankful for the great outdoors and the incredible landscapes that encapsulate it. Social media can often dilute this down to a small thumbnail sized picture or witty caption but it’s so much more than that. It’s what inspires me more than anything else, it’s what allows me to experience so many different invigorating activities to keep life feeling fresh, and it’s what I will get out of bed for at 4 in the morning just to go hike up a mountain in the dark with the slightest hope of capturing a halfway decent photo.
It can be so easy to get caught up in the negativity and nonsense that surrounds us in our day to day. That’s why it’s important to take days like today and spend a little time thinking about some of the most basic aspects of our lives, what are we most thankful for?

The first time I hiked up this mountain I stood in the fog for hours waiting for it to clear but it never did. I could only see a few feet in front of me and never had the chance to take in the beauty. I returned this Fall and had some beautiful weather with this never ending view. What a difference!
Gifting this to a friend for their baby shower, the parents got engaged in Saranac Lake. Surely this child will have many Adirondack trips in their future! With the holidays approaching this is a great gift to consider for the little adventurer in your life! I purchased this at the Mountain man store in Old Forge, but it is also available online through Barnes and Noble!
