Have you ever had to pull yourself out of the situation!? Have you ever had to push yourself through something that was so scary but you knew you had to get through it and when you finally got through it you saw what the repercussions would have been had you not done it? It’s a struggle! I see a yes in the future, do you? Sometimes it takes a bit more effort to get to the finish line, but I promise you it’s worth it. I’m not even at my finish line, and I know it’s gonna be worth it!! You can’t enlarge your territory alone, but it’s up to you to see that there is a larger territory ahead!
Had to really psych myself out for today’s workout!
Single Arm half body pull-ups/ Horizontal Squat Push-ups / 50crunches
And BAMM SHAZAMM!!!it’s looking (& feeling) more & more everyday that I’m able to “Back-Up-Everything...” we changed around for the “Healthier Better Me”! Back & Lats were feeling a lil extra strong this morning (probably due to them 9hrs of deep sleep/rest last night...as well, I went to bed feeling very positive & hopeful for a good & rewarding future soon coming my way!!! This is just as important!!! If you know your Anatomy, I’m hinting at too much negativity in the mind (& life) will eventually affect hormonal levels (The endocrine System in particular). Sooo keep yo back strong, train for the balance between muscles on the front of the body & back of body as well. You’ll end up with less ‘risk of injury’ particularly to joints, tendons & ligaments. As well, you’ll naturally be working on the vanity benefit ‘We All Want’ called “symmetry” (a great shaped body overall). 😉☺️🤣👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾”G to the train in harmony front vs back & do yo best to keep negativity & Negative People at bay Q!!!”
Is it possible to overdo self-care? If I've learnt anything in the last two months, the answer is YES. ⚡️
Let me explain. My youngest started nursery in September and I went at it like a mad woman possessed: running nearly every day to release the pent up frustration of not being able to exercise as much or in the ways I would've liked to for about 7 years. Devouring podcasts with a voracious appetite because I could. Teeing up meetings in London because I finally could. Writing my heart out because I finally had the time and space. Now all these things are potentially nourishing but I over did it! Scary Mummy was rearing her head. I was exhausted and burnt out. I'd lost the art of balance. I'm learning how to pace myself again and I'm calling to mind that definition of self-care: it nourishes you in this moment AND the person you are becoming. ✨
Just something to ponder during self-care week. Are you overdoing some aspect of self-care? Is it becoming an obsession or losing its nurturing capacity? Is there another way that you could nourish yourself? Would going for a walk rather than a run be more energising, or would a night in be more restorative than a night out? There's no cast iron right or wrong here, there's right for you. We just need to really tune in and listen to the bodymind. ✨
The best self-care is mindful nourishment, life-giving acts that carve a balance between:
~ plugging in and switching off.
~ effort and surrender.
~ movement and stillness.
~ connection and solitude. ✨
In time to come I so look forward to sharing with you the Vitality Wheel framework from my book #selfcarerevolution . It's an image that will help you strike a balance in your acts of self-care. Watch this space! 💗
Ok... where do I begin... (trying to keep this short but detailed) 🙄
Training has been the shits lately. I went to the gym twice this week and left immediately, making today my first training day of the week. I've been upset and unmotivated with the whole knee situation and just mentally defeated bc of uni stress 😴. So I decided to give the gym another go today and it was ok.... had some good and bad performances in my exercises, but overall felt great to complete a decent workout. ➖Bench press 5x5 @ 30kg never felt so smooth and easy (shown is 6 reps cos yo girl can't count lol) ➖ 3x10 @ 60kg rack pulls
Dedicated this workout to abit of push and pulls as well as some HIIT + abs to wrap it up ☺️
Just thinking in a few days time, I'm done with uni for the sem and can solely dedicate my mind and energy on lifting makes me keen af 🤙🏼
