Were getting confirmations! Excited about our amazing new and returning vendors!
Amidst all the turbulence of our times and all of our other obligations, planning a space to celebrate queer art and healing helps us nurture our joy and resilience. Also you all are cute. 💜

My new collections are launching on Friday the 27th at 7pm CEST / 1pm ET! 🎉🌈💜✨ I'm super duper excited to share all the new items with you all. These items are really all about LGBTQ* acceptance and validation - there's a lot of love that flowed into these items and I hope that love flows over to all of you! 🌈⠀
First reveal is for the Queer Enough notepad! 💜✨ Constantly I hear so many queer folks saying that they don't feel "queer enough" and I feel you and I want you all to know: you ARE queer enough. These notepads are perfect for filling out the little certificate and handing a sheet out to yourself and all your queer friends to make sure you remember that you belong with us. 🏳️🌈🏳️🌈🏳️🌈⠀
[Image description: An A7 notepad is held by a hand. The notepad depicts a certificate design with a border of various pride flags. It reads "Certificate of validation. This certificate verifies that (blank space for a name) is queer enough. Presented by (blank space) on this day (blank space)". In the name space the handwriting by me reads "the person reading this".]⠀

Next October, we look forward to honoring the legacy of Chicago LGBT artist Ralph Arnold during #LGBTHistoryMonth and National Coming Out Day. On October 11, #NCOD 2018, @ArtDesignChicago exhibition "The Many Hats of Ralph Arnold" will open at @MoCPChi.

In recognition of #NationalComingOutDay , we honor late artist and native Chicagoan Ralph Arnold. Through his intricate visual arrangements of photography, text, and paint, Arnold utilized collage to explore media portrayals of sexuality, gender, race, and politics. Arnold’s art-making is almost a metaphor for his blended identity as a gay, black, Korean War veteran, and prominent figure in Chicago’s art community.
#ArtDesignChicago looks forward to celebrating Arnold’s important contributions to the art of collage starting one year from today, Oct. 11, through “The Many Hats of Ralph Arnold: Art, Identity, and Politics” at @MoCPChi. .

Commissioned piece of / for @mallory_i that I unintentionally (but appropriately) started on Indigenous People’s Day! Mallory shared all kinds of great imagery & context for this piece in her email to me:
“Tókša” is a Dakota word that begins a phrase commonly used to say goodbye to someone (tókša akhé waŋčhíyaŋkiŋ kte / I will surely see you again). Colloquially, people use it as a word for goodbye, but with the sentiment that it isn’t goodbye.
At the bottom of the piece, you’ll recognize symbols from the Mdewakanton seal, and at the top half, a Lakota constellation symbolizing the ancestral resting place and entrance into the spirit world. The background is based off of landscapes found in Makháthipi (Chamberlain, SD), her hometown. The morning star motif is based off of a sculpture of an indigenous woman called, Dignity.
Thank you so much for sharing and trusting me with such deep and meaningful imagery, Mallory! Ancestral and cultural knowledge is so critical in our understanding of our selves and our lives, and I was so honored to be a part of that. This is one of my favorite pieces I’ve made this far! ❤️❤️❤️ #raychelledraws#indigenouspeoplesdayiseveryday#powertothepeople#BIPOCareeverything
Inktober: High Femme/Le Bayadére/Metallics . Saw a video of Shobana Jeyasingh iteration of La Bayadère and was inspired by the high femme butch queen looks that Sooraj Subramnamiam was giving. ⭐️🌟☀️🌙🌕⚡️✨💫#inktober#inktober2017#ink
