Reunited with the founder & creative brain behind @rjacksonlondon , who gave me a chance to work under her wing 6 years ago. So proud of all the achievements over the years, can't wait to see where you'll take the brand next! Hopefully Malaysia 😊
So here it is, the last ever day of my twenties. I'd like to say I spent it doing something wild, but I didn't. I dragged myself through a joe wicks work out in the hope I'll shift some baby weight, I walked the dog, I made the baby lunch and changed a few nappies and then I took a trip to maxwells diy to order a radiator cover. And after all this I had a little moment where I felt really down, feeling like if my 20 year old self could look at me now I'd be a tad bit disappointed. I've just left a good job where I was doing well to return home to a whole lack of job vacancies. As a result we are on a budget (I obviously thought by 30 I'd be doing my weekly shop in marksies.) I'm not in my prime. I look a bit haggered from the sleepless nights that come hand in hand with teething, I haven't lost all the baby weight in a matter of months, I'm almost a year on and the majority is still there. And just as I was feeling a little bit urgh, my mam and dad popped round with a gift that couldn't be more perfect, and couldn't make me feel more happy about my life at 30. This little locket of joy has the birthstones for me, David, Florence and Baxter (as much a member of the king household as any - the airway bill for his travel here proves it!) all in one little mixing pot. My twenties gave me all of them....and it reminded me of how amazing that is. Meeting David in uni, travelling with him to Australia, surviving a hellish PGCE and an even more difficult NQT year with his support, getting married, moving to Dubai and back again, moving into our beautiful home, rescuing our little pup Baxter and successfully getting his Hungarian self back from the UAE, and finally, my greatest achievement, our Florence. I think if I'd asked my 20 year old self to describe the best thing I'd done, she'd blow it out the water, and she never would be here if anything had been different. So I'm sitting here now eating pizza (sorry joe wicks), watching location, location, location, with the dog beside me begging for food and the baby tucked up in bed, thinking how lucky I am to have everything I do. Come on 30's, let's see what this chapter has in store ❤️ #30#birthday#racheljackson
Uncle Alfred Jackson. Had heard of this man from my readings of Andrew Jackson but never extensively. Was Betty's son(the enslaved cook of the Jackson family) and stayed on the plantation after jacksons death for 98 years becoming caretaker during the civil war. Alfred took Jackson's last name as was custom for freed slaves in those days. Says a lot about the relationship( that of slave and master) for him to want to be buried next to andrew and his wife Rachel. Old Hickory was a leader with many disturbing contradictions yet many distinguishable characteristics that made him successful. #thehermitage#presidents#ushistory#history#7thpresident#andrewjackson#oldhickory#racheljackson#unclealfred#nashville

Swipe for my fringe picks from this year. Missing (because I forgot to take a photo of the poster) is Batacchio at ZOO Southside, which was amazing. I saw fewer shows this year than in the past as we were only up for a couple of days but these were the best ones and you should definitely try to see any and all of them!
I've been casually listening to Bloody Bloody Andrew Jackson and I can't find the original cast actors (or make sure it is) so I just decided to doodle up some Andrew Jackson and his wife based off the clothing of the time mixed with punk rock elements lol
Smiling is contagious! It can change someone's day and lift someone's spirits. Just smiling at someone without reason or just saying hi to a stranger can make a difference. #smile#uplift#hi#selfie#racheljackson
