Because she's driving me all kinds of crazy today 😬 I post a lot of smiley pictures but the truth is, this kid cries.. a lot! She is a full blown drama queen with a quick temper and we haven't even hit the toddler years yet. 🙈 My mild mannered first born did not prepare me for this.
Do you guys agree with Attachment Parenting theory? Some concepts were really interesting for me to discover. We are all attached to our kids and spouse. But what matters most is the type of attachment that we show to them. Very rarely the family has all relationships as “Secure Attachments”. In most cases, we have other types, for example Anxious, Preoccupied attachment, or Dismissive, or even Disorganized attachment style. You may love your baby more than anything, but your attachment style (which you often inherit from your parents) still make them confused.
Secure Attachment means baby always feels safe, soothed, seen and secure. They should feel that you are always there for them as a permanent base, without any emotional swings. Then they can venture to explore the world (or the apartment). But often we are showing them Preoccupied Attachment (true for us working moms) – one moment we are available and rewarding with our love, and next moment we are misattuned and dismissive (perhaps busy with some office call), leaving the baby confused and frustrated.
And if you look at your relationship with your spouse, it gets even more complicated. Lots of avoidant – dismissive – disorganized attachment styles here.
It’s helpful for me to read about it, so at least I can make conscious efforts to balance out my attachment to both of my loves ❤️. Not to be too emotional for my own sake, but always be stable and “be there for them” when they need me.
Do you guys agree? And what is your attachment model, how you make your child feel stable and secure?
It was a beautiful evening with my favorite people, so I just may have taken a ridiculous amount of photos. There will be lots of sharing. Mostly because I could stare at this amount of handsome all day, but also because I'm really darn proud of my work!
The plan was to take a sweet photo of these two together since I missed #nationalpuppyday yesterday. Let's just say sometimes things don't go as you envision them ... and I'm calling it a day and settling for this #outtake . 😂 83/365
