Day 23 of 31 Days of Rest and Self Care.
Today I want to feature an amazing gal I discovered last year online. I found @carolinewyoga on YouTube as I was searching for some simple yoga videos and her videos changed how I viewed yoga completely. Caroline weaves Scripture and devotionals and the heart of Jesus right into yoga and suddenly I felt like yoga was something I could actually do and truly benefit from.
For me, yoga is a way to intentionally slow down, release my mind from the stress of life and really allow rest and self care to happen. With Caroline's videos, I get to infuse some Jesus into that time too and that's just extra awesome!
You can check you @carolinewyoga on YouTube and also check out her website for a brand new yoga series she just released! I just purchased it this morning and I can't wait to work through it! You can read about Caroline's heart behind this series below!
This video series (The Foundations of Yoga: A Jesus-Centered Approach) has been stirring in my heart for a long time. When I talked to people about yoga, nearly everyone seemed to have an excuse for why they couldn't do it.
The two most common I heard were:
I'm not flexible and
I'm a Christian.
Neither of those are good reasons.
I wanted to create something that I could put in their hands and say confidently, start here.
So that's what this video series is.
An introduction to yoga with Jesus at the center, instruction on how to do and modify the foundational poses, and 4 beginner level practices.
It boils down to these two core values: educate and empower.
You can do yoga.
You can connect with God body+heart+soul.
That's what this series is all about.

Laziness level: 100! I’m back in the states after a 10 day school trip to Germany. It was amazing but I am completely burnt out! A huge thanks to @thejuicemerchant for this blue majik smoothie as other goods to get my body back in order after 10 days of bread 😂
In other news, I announced on my stories this morning that I’m changing my relationship with Instagram. It was feeling more like a chore than a passion. Time away the last week helped me refine what it is that I want. I’m still here, but I’ll just be doing it all a little differently!
Pre- and post-workout meals😎
I have had a very normal Monday. School, some homework, a workout and a walk with Neo🤗 My workout tonight was short but effective upper body’s strength session at the gym💪🏼
Oh there was something special in this Monday: we got first snow here in Finland😍❄️
People often mock my culinary skills.... it can be hurtful... sometimes gets me down .... 😂Jokes! I couldn’t careless as I’d like to see them squat 120kg!
#huzzah these egg muffins filled with greens are delish! I’m intermittent fasting at the moment & have incorporated fasted cardio. But I’ve been starving post training & end up snacking on whatever I can grab my hands on. So prepping these #lovemuffins to refuel the right way & shred those #lovehandles 💪🏼🏋🏽♀️🥗💛
👩🏻🍳#inspo @mrs_pma for her amazing eggy muffins!
@newzealand_nationals 2017, what a blast 👊🏼☄️ Couldn’t have come away more proud and inspired by the two @maiacrossfit teams that competed over the weekend 💪🏼 True grit and strength was seen on that floor and in that arena. No one gave up, no one was left out in making team decisions, no one was ever made to feel insignificant. Everyone was respected and an equal part of the team, which showed in the way we worked together, communicated and presented ourselves 👯 The supporters on the other hand.... I have no words to explain the immense appreciation and overwhelming gratitude I have for the bunch of people who came and stuck by our sides throughout the two days. They made the already electric atmosphere even more intense ⚡️I think they all ended up doing more work than the athletes did! 😅 I could go on and on, but I’ll stop there for the sake of keeping this post semi-short 🙈 Here are a few snapz of the weekend by the wicked @aidan_martin_photo, that accurately sum up all the feels felt 😜 Excluding after party pics of course 😏
Congratulations to all the other teams and competitiors that left it all out there, definitely witnessed some epic, nail biting moments 😬
I think I have about a week of sleep to catch up on buuuut exams that I need to START studying for are in about 10 days... sooooo me is currently in a bit of trouble 🤦🏼♀️🤷🏼♀️

The role of rest and recovery in any exercise program (mine especially) is essential to progress. It's not until I look at my historically captured data that I remember on average, each day, I'm walking approx 10 miles, awake 16 hours, doing some sort of intentional physical exercise, using +/- 3000 calories, all while in autopilot mode. Mixing up your program to keep up with your lifestyle does take planning, and part of that plan is the down time, to rest, to sleep, to relax, to meditate, and to have some fun too. Don't forget to build this into your week, at least once, twice if you can manage. Your #mind and #body will thank you for it and you will notice the difference. #rest#sleep#relax#meditate#mindbody#recovery#fitness#refuel#fitfam#committosomething#workout#weightloss#goals
