Capitalism is inherently good, but needs some directing sometimes. Regulations, as long as they are useful and not extremely punishing, are necessary for businesses. Basic economic regulations and reforms like Glass-Stegal could have very well prevented the 2008 Financial Crash. Now as Trump unravels more necessary regulations (and yes some unnecessary ones) the chances of a huge financial crash like '08 increases daily. Many people may laugh, but I could very well foresee a similar or even worse economic situation in the United States and ultimately the world due to the slashing of regulations and even taxes. Let's just hope for the best! #politics#regulations#economics#finance#2008#2017

Congratulations to the FinTech Association of a Indonesia for Organising a wonderful FinTech event in Jakarta.
Don't be fooled by the generic theme "Meet Up, Have Fun and Discuss FinTech" or the quirky setting (a ping-pong bar in Jakarta). The Association brought together the big guns - - key policy makers in Indonesia from Bank Indonesia, Otoritas Jasa Keuangan, the Ministry of InfoCommunications, Bekraf (Indonesian Creative Economy Agency) and the Director-General of Tax.
The Association's adviser, Pak Mahendra Siregar (formerly Chief of BKPM) sharply provoked the audience to think about the role of regulators and FinTech, remarking that there was a tension between regulations (and the financial services was the most heavily regulated industry globally) and innovation. He posited that regulators must take regulatory risks and not be too enthusiastic in regulating. He defined the government's primarily role as in putting in place the broad infrastructure for FinTech nationwide.
He also pointed out several challenges in Indonesia - the lack of VC funding (PE funds tend to not understand the needs of the tech startup community), and the lack of accelerators/incubators in Indonesia to guide startups.
What followed was a lively rejoinder from the regulators - that OJK itself had been reluctant to regulate P2P lending in Indonesia, but that the industry had lobbied OJK to issue regulations for investor confidence. OJK also hoped that the incubators could work together and share ideas for the greater good.
The Director General of Tax also shared a national initiative, Kartin1 as a national card, that provides a flexible platform for third parity stakeholders, using contactless technology. Amongst the uses are authentication for the public (eg with PIN or biometrics), to store critical data offline (eg tax clearance, transaction logs of hospitals , immigration purposes) and for integration of public services.
You’ve probably heard people say that e-cigarettes can act as a gateway to smoking. We went through the research to find that the opposite is true. Check out our findings via the link in our bio! #veppo#smokeless#gateway
A lot of people have very sweetly said they'd pray for us after the #caraccident or suggested that a deity was watching out for us during the accident. I'm grateful to those folks who are thinking of us lovingly, and I won't get into a debate here about the presence or absence of spirits. I do want to say, however, that I am grateful for the @nhtsagov and all the onerous #safetyboot#regulations it has placed on the #autoindustry . I am thankful to inventor Samuel Alderson and the thousands of #engineers and #scientists who used his #invention to figure out what happens to bodies in a car accident and how to minimize the damage. I am grateful to Linderer and Hedrik and Breed and to @ford who introduced their technology to mass-produced cars. I'm grateful to Nils Bohlin and @volvo, to @gmc for building #Yukons with full body frames, to the thousands of scientists, engineers, and assembly workers who built a #vehicle designed to withstand #collisions . And, I am so grateful to the real "angels" in our experience: the #witnesses and #bystanders who came running toward the accident, who opened the sun roof and pulled us out, who directed traffic before official help arrived, and who comforted us. And to the #heroes in #uniforms (fire, paramedic, police, scrubs, lab coats) whose paychecks I gladly pay with my #taxdollars and whose training and kind dispositions cared for us and stayed with us until we were ready to go home. In short, I'm grateful for #science , #biggovernment , and #people . Those are the #blessings I'm counting today.

Jubin from Rochester, NY, USA : " My family was flying to the US a week after Trump's visa ban and my family has green cards - my aunt, uncle and cousin. They were scheduled to fly and not even a week before Trump comes out with the ban. Suddenly my family, even though they were legal residents of the US, were not allowed to enter. I understand having borders and ways to control your borders. But if you tell people to come and then that they can’t come even though they were legally allowed to come according to this piece of paper they hold that is an official US government document, that is antithetical to the foundation of our country. They were able to come because the order was struck down. We don’t have an administration based on logic.
Global warming, meaningful pay of men and women are my real priorities. Marriage, it seems like they (the Trump administration) are not touching it. I am really more concerned about other things, who are the tax cuts for? The thing is, Trump is very much falling along Republican party lines about decreasing taxes on the rich. There is a reason we have these laws and regulations and is it perfect, no. but there is a reason we have these things and honestly that matters more to me than my right to marry whoever I want. Yes, I care about that, but i care more about food and drug safety, water safety and air quality. In the end they affect more people."
'32 Square Meters' by WANG Zhong.
Belief in contemporary China is a blur, luxury and lie.... 32 Square Meters" chooses the living room of the two-bedroom apartment, with its size and area adjusted to 32 square meters according to the area of the wall and the number of people I have planned.
Each model in the work has corresponding archetype in real life.
Among them are my middle school classmates, friends and students. They are refugees of a new era. It seems that they can only live and realize their dreams by going to a big city far away from their home. Among them are poets Zhou Sese, Qin Xiaoyu, Jiang Hao, Hu Jiujiu, Ye Kuangzheng, writer Dan Yu, critic Zhu Qi, my high school classmates who are living in Beijing as I am, lawyer Sun Zaifeng, scientist Kou jianyong, civil servants Liu Defeng and Guo Kui, as well as entrepreneurs Xin Weili, Ma Jianguang and Zhang Kai.

On April 28th the Bureau of Medical Cannabis Regulation drafted a comprehensive set of rules for the commercial medical cannabis industry. Some of the regulations are faulty, while others don't seemed to be sussed out enough.
The good thing is that these are only proposed regulations, meaning things can still change. We're in a 45-day public comment window, so if you see things in the regulations that seem screwy you can email them your comments or attend a public hearing. You have until June 12th to do so! The email to send comments to and the guidelines are in the story. Clink link in bio to read part one of the new proposed #mmj regulations that'll effect patients and dispensaries.
Good steps. All Federal Ministries,Departments and Agencies are to transparently publish a complete list of all requirements or conditions for obtaining products and services. Punitive measures also announced for those who violate the orders. #Osinbajo#Business#Nigeria#regulations 🇳🇬
