We are using a throwback exercise for our first core exercise. This exercise is such a great one for core strenght and even throws in some shoulder stability.

Thread that needle! This is another dynamic plank exercise that works on rotational control! Ideally you will keep your body in line throughout the exercise as you reach under your body or "thread the needle". This takes some good core strength. Start with the regular side plank progression. Once you master this technique try it with a dumbbell for added difficulty.

As a therapist 💆‍♂️, as a strength coach 🏋️, as a movement enthusiast 🐒, I see weak shoulder blade function everywhere. And almost always the weakest link is the Serratus Anterior ❌ (since we stopped using our arms for movement & all 😒) ☝️This is for those who have 1 side weaker than the other. 
Revisiting this muscle which I posted about in the beginning of the year, it is a multi purpose muscle not only assisting with shoulder weakness, but postural repositioning as well, in addition to assisting with breathing 🌬. Better yet is how much it ties in with the core & respiration so why not show an exercise that works all 🤗

Integration is the 🔑 with this one:
Core remains tight ✅ 
Serratus muscles stay ON & alternate ✅ 
Alternating oblique activity ✅ 
Back muscles stay OFF ✅ 
Breathing is maximized ✅ 
1️⃣ On all 4s, push the ground & lift the knees 2-3" off the ground
2️⃣ Pushing into the ground as you breathe IN allow your back to round.
3️⃣ As you breathe OUT push the ground with just 1 arm, putting all weight on that arm, slightly raising the other off the ground. 
4️⃣ Repeat 🔁 & alternate 
Reciprocal & alternating strength is the goal 🥅

I actually didnt expect to be able to do one.  Its very encouraging and a great reminder of what drills will do to help sustain skills.  The elements.  The foundations.  I have continued to practice these turnovers multiple times a week from the ground/boxes etc. leg assisted.  Continuing to practice your fundamentals is key.  You never outgrow them or become so advanced you dont need them.  Injury or not the elements keep the proper motor skills, recruitment, mobility and even strength of the skills intact.  I was only planning to attempt one to see where the shldr was but i kept going cuz it felt so good to be up there again.  It was a bad decision as on the final rep i lost tension and almost caught the shldr ina bad position.  It can be hard to remain disciplined when you just want to fly!  Im lucky i didnt injure myself.  I think God sometimes has pity on the stupid people...🙏 ______________________________

I know its very sloppy and its clear there is still massive mobility issues with the shldr but i was really excited to be able to do it after so long off the rings. Antes de qualquer discussão, precisamos lembrar que a dependência química é uma doença progressiva, incurável e se não tratada, fatal. O dependente químico jamais ficará curado, mas, com o apoio necessário e os tratamentos adequados (sim, precisa ser feito um trabalho multidisciplinar, tratando o físico, emocional, espiritual e etc), poderá controlar a doença e a sua vida.

Nenhum dependente químico utiliza o álcool e/ou drogas por "sem vergonhice", "falta de esforço" ou "por que quer". E em um estágio avançado da doença, o dependente não consegue mais manter o controle. Ninguém quer se maltratar ou a sua família (o familiar do dependente precisa tb de apoio) sem motivo.

Antes de apontar o dedo acusador, tenha mais compaixão pelo outro e tente ao menos se informar, entender o que é a doença. Fique de olho, veja se não existe alguém no seu círculo de relacionamentos que precisa de apoio. Tenho a certeza que fará a diferença!

Falamos bastante sobre este assunto nos últimos dias, isto, devido a grande ocorrência desta lesão entre nós corredores e pela curiosidade de que este perfil nasceu devido a uma tendinopatia crônica que tive após a maratona de Amsterdã.
Vimos que:
* Exercício excêntrico funciona para tendinopatia intra substancial  e Isométrico para insercional.
* Palmilha, terapia miofascial e Ondas de choque podem ajudar bastante no processo de alívio da sobrecarga e da dor.
* Medicamentos e modalidades fisioterápicas tradicionais não funcionam bem nos casos crônicos mas podem ser usados em casos agudos.
* Apesar da literatura não ser favorável ao taping, na prática pode ajudar.
* Sobrecarga é a principal causa da tendinopatia. Para trata lá, o primeiro passo é reduzir esta sobrecarga.

This was my 2nd trip to rehab 
Because my ass got kicked the shit out of by HEROIN! 💉🚫😵
But I TOTALLY learned so much at this facility.
Soo I entered South Suburban Council
Located in Hazel Crest Illinois.
Now Hazel Crest is not exactly the best neighborhood..haha
I mean, I literally picked up dope down the street when I was using..💩
Talk about triggers 🔫
I was high as a kite when I got there..🚀🚀🚀
And i was scared shitless because I KNEW I was gonna crash and deal with wonderful withdrawals.. ⏳
(Fun Fact: heroin withdrawls get worse each time you quit! 👈)
Soo I was in bed not moving for 3 days..🛌😭😵🤢🤒🤧😫😪
And alll the dope heads there were so nice and supportive
Bringing me crackers, ginger ale
And cigarettes.
(We were not allowed to smoke at this place! People snuck in smokes in thier bathrooms..and each smoke cost $1 a piece!) The counselors were all really great.
And it helped that they were former addicts themselves so they understood where we were coming from.
There were 47 people there besides me
(And only 6 were females!)
I met a lotttt of fucking awesome people that I will continue to keep in touch with!
Young, old, black, white, meth, heroin, or alcohol..we were all addicts and we realized we fucked up our lives and needed to fix ourselves and learn from eachother and help one another out.

The struggle is real 😫

I gave up training... well I gave up giving it my all, my head wasn't in it anymore, neither was my heart.

I've been training for 8 years now... through pregnancies, broken bones, dislocations, post surgeries, uni exams, gym bullying, chronic fatigue, relationship break-ups... it's always been my savior but not anymore.

I guess after a while we all need a break from something we've been doing repetitively. The worse bit for me is the guilt that comes with it - "i'm letting myself go, I need to stay fit, I used to look like that and be able to do that". I'm crippled with fatigue at the moment and the most intense migraines after discovering a hairline fracture in my cervical spine.

This is the point where most people would fall off and throw it in all together... because I could use all of the above as an "EXCUSE" but reality is I don't have an excuse I have limitations so the next step is how to work WITH them.

So, ok I can't lift heavy weights with my neck, I'm tired and I've now got 3 kids who don't belong in a gym crèche all the time at my expense. Alternative?

Well Ill just have to adapt my lifestyle to what I can do and RESPECT my body for what it has been through rather than what it can't do. {Morning fat burning stack by @atpscience thanks for the advice Theo}

As my time at rehab is coming to a close I'd like to thank everyone for their love, prayer and support. It means the world to me and I'm sure it has a great deal to do with my speedy recovery. I'm not 100%, I will be walking with a walker for the time being, it's still difficult for me to get up from sitting, but this time last week I was bed bond, so the progress is great. With the thank you, I'd like to offer an apology to my family. My first 24 hours in the hospital is a really scary but hazy jumble of bits and pieces, but something I do know is several family members visiting me, and in hindsight it's been realized they were their to say good bye to me and I'm so sorry for that. I can't imagine how hard that was and I'm sorry I put you through that. I'm so sorry I let myself get to that point. I am so angry at myself for it. I had been really sick for a really long time and I was just so tired and I gave up. I'm sorry. Especially to my mom and Heather. I am so lucky to have you both because I need you now more than ever. Wall slides. An exercise that does a great job of challenging scapular stability, serratus anterior control/strength, and overall core stability with movement. This is a daily exercise that I try to do to keep my often stiff shoulders mobile. If you sit at a desk all day - this would be a great exercise to practice to keep the shoulders moving and feeling good!

Step 1: Stand with back against the wall and heels roughly 6-12 inches from the wall.

Step 2: *Most important step* Keep your back flat against the well while maintaining core rigidity and place elbows and forearms flush against wall overhead. .
Step 3: Slowly raise arms overhead while maintaining back flat against wall and elbows & forearms against wall. DO NOT let your ribs flare up and low back arch!

Step 4: Be sure to breath with each rep slowly reaching overhead. If you can't quite reach overhead while maintaining back flat against wall - then only move to where you feel comfortable and able. If simply getting the arms flush against the wall with back flat is hard - then start with that.

Most people believe that they have full shoulder overhead mobility; when in fact, they compensate by arching their low back and flaring the rib cage. Mentally think of engaging your core while moving overhead. Your shoulders will thank you!

A common concern we see at the #physio movement is knee caving in lunges.
We find people who present with poor hip control tend to cave at the knee when lunging- creating stress on the inner part of the knee 😫 
We find utilising a resistance band works wonders as your body will naturally not want to let your leg bend inward, activating the hip abductors.

This is a great exercise testing muscles of the shoulder, back, and anterior chain. This can also be used as a test before you go to lower angles, then push-ups, then dumbbell/barbell work. If you are trying to get back to lifting, but have pain these might be a good bridge to get you back. This is a great exercise to progress shoulder stability in a closed chain position (all four limbs in contact with the ground). Once you have begun crawling progressions, this is a great variation to incorporate. This exercise allows us to utilize scapula-on-humerus shoulder motion due to the hand being fixed throughout the exercise.

When completing this exercise you want to make sure you keep your hand as close to your hip as possible when in the seated position. This exercise allows us to work on shoulder depression and downward rotation through an alternative position. For even more of a challenge, use this movement to initiate your crawling pattern.
