Many elite athletes from gymnastics, martial arts, dance, climbing and so on demonstrate considerable hypermobility. The key in these situations is to also possess the neuromuscular capacity (motor control and strength) to accommodate the increase in mobility.

What we did:
👉🏼Trap Peel
👉🏼serratus release
👉🏼 GH traction and posterior glides
👉🏼 Infraspinatus release ⭐️ 👉🏼 Pec min/major release
👉🏼 Sleeper stretch .
You may notice that his shoulder blade seems to “wing” a bit more now, which we were actually quite happy about. Why? When he would hang from a pull-up bar he would feel pain in the area of his serratus.

All together this was about 30 mins of work, not too shabby. .
Tag someone with tight shoulders!

📝Nothing new or crazy here- just two of my favorite higher level hip activation / warm-up / prehab movements.

🍑The side plank + clamshell is a serious glute activation movement. The glutes are one of those muscles that can respond well to isolation work.
.
🍍The supine leg whip is a long time favorite of mine. If you have issues like internal rotation discrepancies or lateral shifting in your squat, this movement might be helpful for you.
.
🍓Try these on a lower body day after your generalized warm-up but before your primary exercise or specific warm-up.
.
🍊Use higher reps and multiple sets. Just like regular training, in order to adapt and improve on prehab movements you need multiple reps/sets and fatiguing volume.

Now the bar can be a bit uncomfortable so try wrapping a towel, sweatshirt, or pad around it to make it more comfortable and then you can just focus on making all the gainz.💪🏻

📝This sequence of exercises is for a return to sport insertional achilles tendinopathy rehab by our buddy @strengthcoachtherapy 🔥.

🌵This is a D1 soccer player, a high level athlete who had been experiencing insertional achilles tendinopathy for almost a month before we made the decision to shut her down. This was after the initial shut down phase where she rested and focused on eccentrics and isometrics without loading into dorsiflexion.
.
👠Foot type always matters. She has high arches with supinated feet; her achilles take the brunt of the load when she runs. We had to change her entire approach to self treatment, which before involved a lot of stretching.
.
👣With an insertional achilles tendinopathy (very bottom of the achilles, pain is on the heel bone), you must avoid loaded stretching because it can exacerbate the injury. Instead, the solution is to remove potential aggravating factors, treat to eliminate pain, and then build the tendons resiliency through exercise.

Overuse and repetitive strain! I struggle with plantar fasciitis as a result, and @kinesiotape has been my saving grace to offer me extra support. 
What is plantar fasciitis? It’s when the thick fibrous band of connective tissue (that follows a pattern like the pink tape in the photo) becomes inflamed as it attempts to absorb shock and limit flattening of your arch. As a result, heel and arch pain occurs, sometimes radiating up into the Achilles and calves. Besides rest and NSAIDS, try taping to reduce pain and provide support and proprioceptive feedback. Stretches and strengthing exercises in your feet and calves are also extremely important. .

It's not just your abs! It's a group of muscles around your entire trunk that when activated, stabilize your spine.

▪️Why is it important to stabilize ? 
Stabilization exercises create a muscular stiffness or brace around the spine that can help prevent injury by making the tissues more resilient to everyday demands. An expert on this topic, Stuart McGill, states that "maintaining a stability margin of safety when performing tasks, particularly the tasks of daily living, is not compromised by insufficient STRENGTH but probably by insufficient ENDURANCE."(1)

.🐞Before all movements are performed, an abdominal brace should be done. [it's just a mild contraction of the abdominal wall, this can feel weird/hard to do but it will get easier as you become more aware of your body]

.🐞Extend one arm and the opposite leg slowly, while maintaining the brace around your core.

.🐞Continue to alternate arms and legs. Repeat this 10x and complete 3 sets, daily.

Warm up, stretch, hip circles, leg press, dumbbell Romanian deadlifts, single leg deadlifts (body weight), calf raises, trap bar deadlifts, and box jumps. I will not squat until I see my doctor. Deep body weight squats feel awkward because I am lacking hip mobility. Hip circles were easier today!
