Feeling artsy at #renwickgallery in DC this weekend! A door made by a jeweler, a rather nice butt on a rather classy statue, and pictures of a ceiling piece that I took while laying on the floor.

Individual film reels stitched together to form a "quilt". I generally hate most modern art because it takes no talent and is filled with fictitious meanings but this was one of the most interesting/creative pieces of art I have ever experienced in person. //

He cuts the silhouette of a tree into one side, then bends paper inward to seemingly take root, leaving the lacy holes above to evoke mottled sunlight. @renwickgallery .

#Reposting @unthinkpink with @instarepost_app -- If you find yourself in DC, don't miss the incredible, Unthinkpink-approved @freelandbuck installation "Parallax Gap" at the @renwickgallery! From the museum's description: "Parallax Gap" transforms the Renwick Gallery’s Bettie Rubenstein Grand Salon into a visual puzzle. This immersive, site-specific installation explores examples of interplay between craft and architecture through a ceiling-suspended structure running the length of the Renwick’s iconic gallery. The installation embraces both Eastern and Western concepts of perspective through trompe l’oeil effects and multiple vanishing points to create a sense of soaring architectural volume. Drawings of ceilings of nine different iconic American buildings are fabricated using a collection of skewed vantage points. Laid near or atop one another, they create layers of both recognizable and abstracted architectural space that change as viewers move underneath. These perspectival illusions operate through the concept of parallax, or how the distance or depth of objects appears to vary when viewed from different lines of sight. Parallax Gap is the Renwick’s first foray into commissioning examples of large-scale craft in architecture. Parallax Gap was designed by FreelandBuck, an architectural design practice based in New York and Los Angeles. Independent curator Helen B. Bechtel coordinated the installation.

From Durham to Dallas, and DC to LA (and points beyond). Appreciating Artistry Amusedly always appeared on my agenda. Above Anything.
Adoration. Affection. Addiction. Allegory. Absence. Arrogance. Anger. Assonance.

Is another abject artist admiring art available?
