Duke, I didn't choose your name since I rescued you when you were already 1- and I didn't feel it was right to change your name at that point. It took me a while to get used to it since I'm a Kentucky Wildcats fan, and it's the same name as their rivalry...which we won't mention. But now, I don't think there is any other name that could fit you better. You're the finest Duke of them all, literally and metaphorically. I always say I chose you of all the other dogs in the shelter... but in reality, you chose me. ❤ #thankfulthursday#rescuedog
We have a houseguest this weekend shaking things up! 🤙🏻 Moose's parents went on vacation and so she's hanging with us for a few days. Carmella went in for her spay surgery this morning, which means it should be an interesting evening....and Friday. 2 dogs over 60 lbs in our tiny 1-bedroom apartment partying hard. Basically my dream scenario. 🙌🏻
So first words out of Noah's mouth this morning were "I don't want to go to school!" With some begging and pleading to please just stay home. Last night I made him a picture book, of just Cliff and McGee and all the pics in it are silly ones to make him smile, to take with him to school and I just received this email... So far the book is working! He's started to cry a little a few times this morning, and then went right to his bookbag to get it out. He took it with him to lunch, so we'll see how he does! :) We love the patience and kindness of Rachel Theolus. All 3 of our boys were blessed to get her as their teacher.
Oh and here is a couple of the pics in his book. I mean how can you look at these and not laugh or smile?! We always laugh when Cliff stretches out bc his back legs are so short and then well McGee is just McGee, his pics need no explanation. 😂#rescuedog#ohmcgee#cliffycliff
This little monster. Not so little anymore, more like an old lady, but still absolutely no concept of personal space. Incidentally, trying to get a dog to pose for a selfie is no mean feat 😂 she's stubbornly loveable though so it's all good.
You know what the best thing about having a dog is? They tell you when it's time to get your booty off the desk chair & go for a walk to clear your mind. It's a great mental reset to attack your afternoon goals. #letsdothis
Alright, guys, if you don't follow us on Facebook then you may not know about these sweeties. We have been tracking a group of puppies for the past few days after getting several calls about an entire litter being THROWN FROM A MOVING VEHICLE. Let that sink in. The reality and frequency of this is too much. When puppies don't make money, they become trash. Left in the country to die. And sadly, two of them did before we were notified. We were able to catch one puppy on Tuesday and one puppy this morning, but the frequent storms haven't been doing us any favors. These guys are in rough shape but they will be ok, they are receiving medical treatment and finally getting some food and water. Most importantly, they are starting to learn how to trust. Something they've already been programmed not to do. While we cannot keep these babies (we are way over capacity 😔), we are so thankful that our friends from Ponca City Humane have a spot for them and are willing to help. We will not give up looking for the other three puppies that are still terrified and in hiding. We won't stop, we won't give up, we won't let their lives mean nothing. Our work never ends until the cruelty of humans does. But we will never stop fighting for those who can't fight for themselves. You're safe now, babies. You're safe. ❤️
