Have you been wondering what all this self love, self care, movement is all about? "Love yourself more", we’re told. But what does that mean? What, exactly, does that look like? Does it mean spending the day in bed, or going out & getting some exercise? Does it mean eating a bowl of chocolate ice-cream, or eating a salad instead?
Well, it can be all of these things. The root of radical self love is in listening to your intuition, & learning to hear what your body is telling you it needs. Sometimes, though, that can be tricky…
Make a list of what your body is telling you. Don't second guess it!
Pick a couple of them to do today, & do another two or three over the coming week. I think — actually, I know! — that you will be staggered by how effective they are! Spend some time alone this coming week. I implore you to do this, even if you have to cancel a social outing in order to make it happen. Learning to get comfortable with who we are is one of the must crucial parts of radical self love!
I love people, but I cherish my alone time too! (It makes me a better people person)
Close your laptop, take off your headphones, & turn off your phone. Just hang out with yourself. Go for a walk. Meditate. Go out & get more familiar with your city! Go & do something you really want to do~ maybe go to an art show, or see a movie no one else wants to see! Embrace your freak flag....it's glorious! 🚩 Pay yourself an amazing compliment, & make it meaningful. It’s okay if it takes you a little time to come up with. Make a mantra, sing a mantra! Post sticky notes in your bathroom reminding you to say I love you out loud...to yourself. Write yourself a love letter and send it.(yes, to you!)
Over time you will see what the hoopla of the self love movement is all about. You might even start paying it forward. 💕

Whole30 meals day 23:
I’m feeling so good and totally looking at food differently! I’m so loving the Whole30 journey!! .
Breakfast- pumpkin custard and sausage. .
Lunch- burger with all the goodies... my homemade Whole30 ketchup, mustard, pickles, onions, tomatoes, and avocado all wrapped in romaine lettuce with a side of potatoes. Omg! It’s so damn delicious I honestly could care less about a stupid bun that makes me feel like crap anyway. This is so juicy and flavorful I just can’t even 🤤. .
Dinner- salsa chicken over a salad, topped with cilantro and lime. Also served with a side dish of homemade guacamole! I’m over here eating great and not feeling deprived, only feeling amazing!!!! .
So this is a reminder to everyone, myself included that it's okay to fall off track but just as long as you have the strength to get back on track.
I started my fitness journey in May of 2016 after I finished chemo. I wanted so bad to get into shape and be healthy and strong so quick so I could go back to work. I did great! I lost 15 pounds and about 14 inches in 2 months. I felt amazing!
I started to work again in July and I was so excited to be back but a combination of the heavy workload and my medication, I was in pain on a daily basis. I had to stop work a few months after my return. It sucked.
I started to fall into old habits. I couldn't exercise because of another surgery and then it was the holidays and then what do you know.. the weights back up and I'm feeling crappy about it.
I started again this month to get fully into the swing of things again. I want nothing more than to get back on track and have others join me on this amazing journey!! If you need to hit the reset button, go ahead! You don't have to wait till Monday, or next month, or when things settle down.. start now!

To all the Mamas who need encouraging tonight! You got this!! Maybe you were solo parenting tonight and bed time was a gong show ( 🙋 ). Maybe you have a small babe and are nursing around the clock. Maybe you have a wild toddler who made more messes than you could clean today. Maybe you burnt dinner and got a flat tire. Maybe you fought with your five year old over wearing pants because it's winter!!! Maybe you got sick kiddos and haven't slept in weeks. Maybe your pregnant and battling the struggles of your body being held hostage.
Whatever it is you can do it! You are strong! You are powerful! You are capable! And you are loved beyond measure! Let all the hardships of the day fall away. Tomorrow's another day. Another chance to try again. You are human and you are trying! Be gentle with yourself and give your self permission to rest and re set tonight. .

I love the idea behind zero carb challenges but I find a personal flaw to those. I need things like coffee that isn’t black, shots of espresso, seasonings on my meat and a slew of almost zero carb things that don’t come to my head without a lot brain storming. I don’t know about anyone else but I need a reset. Now I’ve been pretty strict keto this January. To be honest I’ve slayed my January weight loss and I couldn’t be happier. 2018 is going great BUT I want to get a bit more primal! I want to get back to the base of STRICT keto. Here’s the thing, I like stevia or sugar free syrup in my life. Cream or MCT oil has carbs. SO what am I getting at? Are you even still reading? If so you are amazing. Let’s do a non-restrictive as close to zero carb challenge as possible. I’m starting Jan 31 and going until Feb 13th. Anyone else in?!

DAY ONE LUNCH
The day got away from us and we ate a late lunch of Broccoli Salad a top Beet Noodles. Thank goodness that monster omelette sustained us!
SWEET BROCCOLI & BEET NOODLE SALAD WITH SUNSHINE DRESSING Serves 2 Ingredients:
For the dressing:
Juice from 2 freshly squeezed oranges
2 tablespoons tahini
1/2 tablespoon sesame oil
1/2 tablespoon Coconut Secret Coconut Aminos
2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar
2 inch knob of ginger
1 garlic clove.
Preparation: In a food processor or magic bullet etc. Combine all the ingredients and blend until creamy. If necessary, add an ice cube or two to achieve a creamy consistency.
For the Salad:
1/2 head of broccoli, cut into florets
8 ounces beet noodles (I picked these up at Whole Foods)
1 tablespoon extra virgin olive oil
salt and freshly ground black pepper to taste 1 tangerine, segmented 1 shallots, thinly sliced Palmful of raisins (about 1/4 cup) Palmful almonds, slightly crushed (about 1/4 cup)
Preparation: Prepare a sheet pan with parchment paper and heat your oven to 400F. Massage the olive oil, salt and freshly ground black pepper into the broccoli and beet noodles and turn out onto the sheet pan, being sure to keep the beet noodles on one half and the broccoli on the other. The beet noodles should roast about 5 minutes and the broccoli about 10 minutes. When the beet noodles are done, remove from oven and portion them into serving bowls. Return the broccoli to the oven to continue roasting, about 5 more minutes.
Once the broccoli is roasted, remove to a large mixing bowl and add the tangerine, shallots, raisins, and almonds. Mix to combine and drizzle on a few tablespoons of the Sunshine Dressing (above) Serve atop the beet noodles.
The extra dressing can be stored in a covered container in the refrigerator for 1-2 weeks.

I ate a late-ish breakfast then left to run errands in town. I didn’t allow enough time to run back home to make lunch before picking the big boys up from school! Oops!! 🤷🏼♀️ So, here’s “lunch” from the school car-rider line! 😂
