Post-call workouts are rough. But alas, it's over! Now time to eat 😜
I'm still so tired even though I got a good amount of sleep while on call last night and then some more this morning. It's been pretty busy these few weeks after I got back from vacation so that's probably it. Or the fact that I have consistently only gotten 4-5 hours of sleep for the last 2 months 😂
Either way, I'm changing some things this weekend.
I've been telling myself more excuses than I would like and have missed a few workouts here and there because my mind wasn't in it. And I've let myself order food and eat junk more than I would like to admit. As a result, I've lost a good amount of muscle and definitely gained some fat in exchange.
I'm not proud of that.
Especially as a health and fitness coach.
I feel like I've let people down.
But more importantly, I've let myself down.
So I'm pressing the reset button tomorrow and starting fresh!
Can't have excuses take over my life again. Who's with me?! ➡️I'm gearing up for a brand new accountability group in September. If you want more info, comment below or email me at email@example.com.⬅️ I'm serious.
We're doing this.
The wallpaper #612ShadesofSunshine that I designed during my #residency last year is still available to order through @ketchdesigncentre! A portion of the sales will go back to Ketch and non-profit @612okc. This could be a great way to incorporate #localart into your home or business in a unique way. DM me for details on rates if interested. ✨🛋✨
OKIE PEOPLE this weekend again I'm playing @silvanaharlem yay!!! Sunday night. 9pm. Relaxing tunes. Vibes. Beers. There's falafel and it's like, the good kind. Also hummus. But i can't get any. I ate 2 whole containers yesterday so I'll just watch you eat yours. Trying out tons of new songs that I've written but never played for some reason or another. Come tell me which ones you like and which ones to never play ever again. Also there's a full backline drum set keyboard and business, and I know every cover song ever, so bring your stick (I actually prefer brushes tbh but you do you) bring your singing voice, you can play my guitar if you want, let's make some jams. Had a lot of fun writing tunes on stage last week let's do it again with more friends!!
Picture from that time I almost died at the cliffs of moher 🇮🇪 I'm not joking I got way too close to the side, man, it was exhilarating, if that was it, it'd be fine, what a way to go
You know you picked the right field of medicine when you love seeing patients in clinic, interacting with people of all ages and occasionally, on days like today, hearing "you are the first doctor who has ever really cared about me". #familymedicine
"Don't just sit by waiting for your life to happen, make it happen! Don’t just hope your dreams will come alive, breathe life into them! Don't let your fear help you birth a well-nourished regret. Take action today! .
At the end of the day, at the end of the year, at the end of your life, live in such a manner that you can hold your head up high, smile, and be proud of a life well lived." Dr. Steve Maraboli
I posted a part of this quote a while back and every now and then I see myself scrolling back to it so I thought I might as well share it again. 💗
Back in my hometown to see family, sign some bank forms, and see the progress of my brothers house.
Today I was very tempted to write a check to get rid of my student debt but the interest rate is just too good since I refinanced.
If you're practicing and have no intention of taking advantage of public student loan forgiveness programs then why haven't you refinanced yet?
I've saved over $15,000 in interest so far refinancing my loan from medical school. Links to all the banks that refinance loans on my profile.
Heading to work in my fav scrubs 🏥👩🏽⚕️ that feel comfy and stretchy like pjs and yoga pants lol 😂 the best of both worlds! One of the things that is most important to me as an ER Doc 👩🏽⚕️ is comfort! 💛😃😍 @wearfigs
Typically, internal medicine residents’ exposure to ambulatory nephrologic issues takes place in their primary care clinics, in the absence of formal teaching by a nephrologist. As a result, the perceived complexity of nephrology persists not only into, but throughout residency. Because a significant part of the perceived difficulty of nephrology seems to be due to excessively complex or irrelevant didactics and skewed clinical experiences, Alexis C. Gomez (@pennmed) et al designed and implemented a required nephrology experience for interns early during their residency. The multifaceted ambulatory nephrology module aimed to provide residents with exposure to ambulatory topics in nephrology often under-represented in inpatient medicine and to increase overall comfort with nephrology through organized exposure to these topics. The module took place over an 8-week period, consisting of 4 consecutive 2-week blocks. The overarching goal was to create a reproducible nephrology curriculum that would help elucidate the utility, approachability, and appeal of ambulatory nephrology to internal medicine interns and ultimately attenuate the nationwide trend of declining nephrology fellow recruitment.
Goodbye scrubs 😭😭. I like looking nice but feeling nice (comfy) is so much better in my opinion....now on to out patient. I'm excited to get one on one time with an attending but also worried about being bored...
Behind every successful woman is the men she had to dump to get there.
Travel days and work days won't get the best of me! Being able to take my gym with me anywhere HELPS tremendously when it comes to staying on track!
People ask me all the time how I find time? I don't spend hours at the gym. I follow a program and am usually done in 30 min! That's it!
Worked out, picked up some food and now getting ready for my shift this afternoon 👩🏽⚕️🏥
