Managing intracranial pressure (ICP) is an important aspect of neurocritical care. A normal ICP waveform is similar to an arterial line waveform in that P1 and P3 (the percussion and dicrotic waves, respectively) are analogous to the initial upstroke and dicrotic notch on the arterial line. P2 is the tidal wave and correlates to intracerebral compliance. Learn more about measuring and interpreting ICP waveforms on the blog (link in profile bio) and stay tuned for an IG Live tonight at 8pm EST going over this topic!
When your coffee says Christmas, your candle says spring and your table runner says fall 😂. Trying to decide how to incorporate some Christmas decorations into our apartment, it's always hard as a renter to decide what's worth spending money on when you might have to ditch it in the next move!
Anyone have some apartment decorating tips?! Candles and a wreath are high on my list but I would definitely like to add some more pizzazz than that! #christmasdecorating#apartmentdecorating#christmasintheair#renting
Happy Monday - hope you have a monumental start to this holiday week! 🦃 I have three more days on service with the #babies and can’t wait for Thursday since my parents are coming to visit! What are you thankful to be doing this week? #thanksgiving#grateful
We often cite "delayed gratification" as a pitfall to our very long training paths. Regardless of your career in healthcare, training (and life in general) is a lot shorter than we think. Seize EVERY opportunity to learn something new, and more importantly, teach that knowledge or skill to someone else. Hope everyone has a wonderful start to Thanksgiving week! 😀

Thank the good lord for a ventilator...it does the counting for you! 😈💉 Counting respirations for an entire minute goes right up there with "auscultating bowel sounds for five minutes per quadrant" & "palpating the point of maximal intensity" on the "List of things nursing school taught you that ain't nobody got time for in real life!" 😝💉
I'm not saying we don't do our jobs! I'm just saying every breathes at a rate of 18 until there's a problem...😅😅😅! What else did nursing school teach you that's older than the Golden Girls?! Leave it below! 👩🏼⚕️📚👇🏻 ▫️

Something to remember when you see social media. We often compare our lives to what is presented on social media and it’s definitely not someone’s whole life. I’ve seen terrible comments and judgements on people’s profiles and have even had some not so nice comments directed towards mine. Just some things to keep in mind.... Stop being so harsh on yourself when you’re looking at other people’s social media and don’t think you know everything about someone just by seeing theirs. We all offer more than what is presented on our profiles and often use our profiles to represent a certain interest. #medicine#residentlife#womeninmedicine#socialmedia#supporteachother#life#fitness#health#wellness#selflove
I love Spaghetti Squash and I'm going to be sharing some really great healthy recipes this coming week! 🙌🏽⠀
Why do I love Spaghetti Squash so much? Because it's healthy, delicious, and super EASY to make. How easy?⠀
1. Preheat oven 🔥⠀
2. Cut squash in half 🔪⠀
3. Rub with olive oil ✋⠀
4. Season with some sea salt and pepper 👌🏽⠀
5. Bake 👍🏽⠀
So easy. Anyone can enjoy a perfect spaghetti squash, and as you'll see this coming week...the recipes you can create are so versatile! ⠀
What's you're favorite way to enjoy spaghetti squash?
And dammit, sometimes it means wasting hours curled up in bed. Sometimes it’s eating Oreos all day and pizza for dinner. Sometimes it’s wasting a whole evening on Netflix instead of studying.
Sometimes the most health-conscious self-care is letting yourself indulge in the unhealthy habits for the overall greater good. Rarely do I let myself fall into this gluttony, but guys, this call weekend NEEDED it. I have been beating myself up over not studying when I’ve gotten home from my long hours of work this weekend. But you know what? I haven’t taken a single day of vacation in over 6 months. Not a single sick day. Not a single personal day. And you know what? Fuck it. I’m gonna watch some movies, eat some Oreos, and lay around the house for a few more hours before I hit the ground running again tomorrow. .🖕🏻.
So here’s to a type of #selfcaresunday rarely encountered in this house. Sometimes it’s the best kind.
I may be in LA at the Mega Success Conference, but that doesn't mean my daily commitment to fitness gets pushed to the side. 💯 ⠀
I bring my gym WITH me when I travel. 😯⠀
What you see here is my gym membership, fitness classes, weights and other necessary tools to get an awesome workout in less than 30 minutes no matter where I am! 🙌🏽⠀
Throw up a 💪🏽 if you got your workout in today!
And just like that, I’m back on inpatient medicine, and it’s so great to say that it is so much easier the second time around, because I have my system down. My team started off the morning with an early admission, and 4 hour long rounds, and I feel like I’m right back in the swing of things. I’m definitely going to miss my weekends for the next 6 months, but always internally grateful to get to do this job! Spending the rest of the afternoon charting, follow up on consults and discharging patients. Have a great afternoon! #doctorlife#residencylife#womeninmedicine#goaldigger
Whoever said "sundays are for rest" wasn't an entrepreneur! 💯⠀
Yes you've worked all week and you deserve the enjoy the weekend however you see fit, but Sunday is for worship! ⠀
Sunday is for thanking God for all the amazing things that are working in your life. And while you're at it, take a moment and worship the TEMPLE you live in every day.⠀
30 minutes is all you need to show that YOU are the number ONE priority in your plan. 🙌🏽⠀
You are exactly as God planned for you to be... but you can work at being STRONGER than you were yesterday. Perfection isn't the goal. Just be stronger than before and you'll be just fine 😘
So glad to go back to the same kind of church I attended in my country for my first 21 years (before I left Nigeria!). ⛪💒
Random fact about me: my maternal grandfather was a Reverend with the Anglican (Episcopal) church.
"Do not worry about anything, but in everything, with prayer and thanksgiving, present your requests unto God. And the peace of God which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus."- Philippians 4: 6-7
